This game was alright in some aspects, such as the message it was trying to convey, the amazing music pieces, and the emotions in the story.

However, it was a bit confusing... who am I kidding? A f--kload confusing. And Ati? Why? WHY?!!?! Geez, I loved her 'til the end, just the same way she loved Gii 'til the end. She should've had a better ending.

What the hell happened to Kia and Gii?
Who are you Clown?!

Too much unfinished and unanswered questions and how most characters seem to disappear after a chapter kind of kill this game for me.

Verdict: I still love you Ati, so 7/10

I highly recommend that you read the webnovels (especially the four chapters of "After the Inganock") if you want to shed some light on the ending. It won't explain everything, but it should improve your opinion of the game a bit. Not to mention that they're quite Ati-centric.Last modified on 2011-06-05 at 04:06

Well I DLed this game a while ago to play and I was really excited to play it since I saw post 1 so I started to play it THAN I read post 6 and it seems the shit hit the fan at the final moments. Is this game worth wasting 10-30 hours on? So far it doens't look that bad. I did think the "clown" thing is kinda stupid though.

Also seems like there is a bad ending to this?Last modified on 2012-09-23 at 05:41

Inganock is a masterpiece (90+ for anyone with taste) and is arguably Liarsoft's game (either it or Forest). Of course the English translation is a huge pile of shit so it doesn't matter either way~

Confusing, yes. Unanswered, in most instances, not (depends on how in-depth answer you expected though) So, answered, but too confusing to be recognized as an answer.

... Clown ...
I don't know why are you all picking on this poor clown. He was explained well enough. Because in this case not explaining anything explicitly was the right way.

Also seems like there is a bad ending to this?
If you choose wrong option when choices appear. Recommended to read the bad endings before proceeding further.Last modified on 2012-09-23 at 08:28

I don't think moogy believes that any translation is good. You should probably ignore that comment.

@32 ?? The english translation seems fine to me........
@33 I thought the clown was kinda stupid but I haven't read much of it, was it part of his disaese or something?
Oh I thought there was just one end because the patch came with a weird looking walkthrough.
But im skipping the bad end's I never like bad ending's.

So that means I should proably finish the game than?Last modified on 2012-09-23 at 18:39

Why the Inganock TL is bad:

1) Sakurai Hikaru is the eroge writer I consider the most difficult to translate in terms of writing style. Her style relies heavily on being written in Japanese and there's no way to properly express it in English no matter how hard you try.
2) It was one of Ixrec's earlier works and as such is full of horrible mistranslations everywhere.
3) Amaterasu's translations have poor prose in general; they are clearly written and edited by people not otherwise qualified to pick up the pen, so to speak. Compounded with my first bullet point, this makes for a rather lacking experience compared to the original game since so much of the Steampunk series's charm in general is reliant on the poetic style of writing.

Any translation of a Steampunk series game is unfathomable to me. You are going to lose a lot if you play this game in English, just be aware.

I have recently finished Inganock and written a review of it. It's probably a good thing that I have never played the original and could immediately dive into the Reborn version.

Liked both the plot and presentation of the game, however I believe, the greatest thing that this VN does is making all the characters very likable (even the villains).

Still, I feel that it was a shitty thing that we had to read webnovels to get Ati's conclusion. :-(

I have recently finished Inganock and written a review of it.
It was written in verse? I guess that's why the game repeats lines many times. Might also be the reason why the game has this artsy atmosphere to it. The writing style seems interesting though awkward at some parts to somewhat incomprehensible (might be because my vocabulary is bad). Since it's said to be written in artsy verse, I guess the game loses a lot after translation.Last modified on 2013-05-22 at 22:15

Just finished this VN. I really enjoyed it overall. The only thing I didn't buy was the one-hit KO Porshion does in battle, even if it's the player, seriously. Life's not that easy for the lulz.

I wonder if it's just me buut it really reminded me of the VN True Remembrance. While the parts that shows some similarities isn't that obvious and handled in a manner that is unique, it just came in my mind to compare them. This is just a few but I think there's more.

The clearest one I actually saw was that of Ati and Maria (Blackiris's childhood/girlfriend) in the past. It's more slap in the face for Gii though since he does the memory erase himself.

Another one was Kerkan and Dexter. Both of them are interesting since their perspective shows that they hated the bad things but their way of correcting them isn't the way chosen by Gii/Blackiris but in a different way. The battle for both of them were nearly the same, though more painful for Kerkan though.

Also, Gii's choice at the end, without the webnovels here, reminded me as to how he chose Kia, just like how Blackiris chose La at the end. The actual conflict too in TR felt similar to that of Inganock's, though different topic.

I really enjoyed both of them overall. Inganock is how I see TR if it's more elaborate. Both are awesome.Last modified on 2014-09-30 at 11:50

For people who didn't get Kerkan and Ruaha

Kerkan kills people to release them from suffering. 10 years ago, when his younger sister, Kia, was critically injured, he wanted Gii not to prolong her suffering and let her die. This is another reason why he and Gii do not get along.

As for Ruaha, her sudden change of heart isn't strange. The whole point of her arc was about her humanity, and when she met Kerkan, it is implied that she fell in love with him. Instead of following her mental priority of staying beside Kia, she followed her heart and went to Kerkan. Proving that even though she is mostly made of machine, she is still human.
