< report >Exactly. There's nothing wrong with a person voting strangely, the only problem is if s/he made 20 accounts to do the same thing.

< report >@ gabe
Ok, no troll this time. <troll

For the rest of the people:

They are no trolls. They are Time travelers! Send em back to the future with the banhammer like that of a croquet swingin with the force enough to slay luckypaper and novelsfan-sama.
Oh wait, that won't solve anything. Just f**kin abolish advance-voting system once and for all!Last modified on 2013-06-20 at 14:24

< report >Everyone has his rating policy, so I guess it's useless complaining about that. If a user gives more than 70 10 votes...well, he is..a bit original in giving votes!
As for this:
They are no trolls. They are Time travelers! Send em back to the future with the banhammer like that of a croquet swingin with the force enough to slay luckypaper and novelsfan-sama.
Oh wait, that won't solve anything. Just f**kin abolish advance-voting system once and for all!
I don't really understand. They have certainly a pure gift, an immense power, an innate capacity of time traveling that we don't have!Last modified on 2013-06-20 at 14:51

< report >You guys are way behind the times.

Voting by cover art before the game is even released is the way of the new decade.

< report >They hold history in their hands. Toying our very lives. If we leave them alone, they might change the course of time. The past is history's, future is God's, and now is ours! Those bastards don't belong here/now. They are just shamelessly freeloading, consuming what is supposed to be ours for the taking. We may not have enough omnipotence to oust them, we can at least code an advance-voting blocker to limit their influence in this database.

Good if they inform me about the winning number combination of tomorrow's lottery. I don't think those bastards would reveal anything like that tho.Last modified on 2013-06-20 at 15:24

< report >u40734 seems to have died as seen on the inactivity of his vote stats. That proves that Earth is an inhospitable place for space aliens... or so I thought. u46038 appears to be feeling at-home... or maybe he is just of another specie.
Whatever. Those space aliens don't adapt to human standards. They tend to deify very VN they read.

< report >I have finally unmasked the man behind the superhero known as "the flash"... more like "da plash" or "the troll". His ultra super high speed allows him to read incredible amount of VNs in just a day.Last modified on 2013-07-27 at 07:57

< report >Nothing wrong with voting for a bunch of VNs you already played on the same day. I did that when I joined this site, and that was quite a while after I started reading VNs.

< report >10 of the vns he voted on are all released just yesterday...
There's no way a normal person could read 10 VNs in just one day. Only superheroes (and trolls alike) could.

< report >...I could vote first before reading the VN...?
Now, I only have to cast (temporary) votes for all the VNs in my wishlist, can I?

Seriously, VNDB's vote stats for VNs are loosing its integrity. No wonder why lots of people find it bothersome to cast theirs. Guess i might as well asume apathy just like them...Last modified on 2013-07-27 at 09:06

< report >There's no way I'm going to moderate VNDB by assuming bad faith on part of all users. My current approach to ignoring votes is based purely on cases where it is indisputably clear that the user either made a mistake while voting or is intentionally trying to game the system. For anything else, live with it. No voting system is *ever* going to have much integrity.

< report >Votes aren't just numbers. They are statistics. They are numbers that tells more than their actual numerical values.

Integrity aside, I'm hoping that, someday, you would finally realize the depth of people's quantitative expression for their qualitative impressions on VNs they "wholly read".

< report >I thought we were only supposed to have up to three ten out of ten votes? If I knew we could vote more than that, I would have added on four or five more of the several hundred I've played through... I kind of liked it that way, because it meant that the gap between nine and ten was pretty huge. It's kind of annoying to have some random enthusiast come in and inflate the numbers.

< report >i batch vote for vn i've completed or dropped as well; but no matter how you try to spin it, u42497's voting habits are really cyclical.

i can't imagine what the immediacy of their votes are even for. are they just supposed to be placeholders for future edits? or to just to further skew distributions with false samples? or maybe just to piss off people like soketsu.

< report >I generally just keep the tabs for the ones I'm playing and intend to play in the near future on my browser until I'm done, saving the tabs before going offline. I then come back and rate them once they are finished, one by one. If it gets to be too much, I bookmark them then put the links in a new folder marked 'in-progress'. I don't vote in batches though... since I tend to completely finish only one game at a time then vote on it immediately.

Since I screen most games before I even consider playing them, I don't hit lemons very often (though it does happen) and thus most of my ratings tend to hover between 6-8. If it is above that, it usually left a huge impression on me in some way, shape, or fashion.

That goes to my main reason for disliking people who vote for something they haven't played through, one way or another... if you haven't played it, you shouldn't rate it. The few lemons I've run into are ones I looked up on vndb with high ratings that turned out to be pure crap on a stick because people were rating them without playing them through.

< report >A lemon is a yellow tropic fruit well know for its sour taste and it is often used in the flavoring of soft drinks and other foods. It also has a high vitamin C content. I wonder how you didn't know this... [/deadpan sarcasm]

Okay, in all seriousness, the term "lemon" in this context refers to the well known proverbial phrase by Victor Frankenstein, saying "If life gives you lemons, you give lemons life!", said shortly before he made Lemonstein and got his castle burned down by genetically modified food opponents. I wonder how you didn't know this... [/silly sarcasm]

Okay, now with 100% seriousness, picking at such a silly detail as the usage of the word "lemon" is a little vacuous, don't you think?
