< report >Aaaaand it's released.

Fuck yes, I've been following this translation since...it began, pretty much. Words alone cannot convey my excitement for finally being able to play this. ;w;

< report >Do you know if there's any romance in this or is it just a straight mystery. I wish there were more translation going on for the PSP, there sure are a ton of visual novels for it, that's for sure.Last modified on 2013-06-23 at 10:56

< report >In case somebody plans to emulate, here is my experience :

1.Unless there are some specific settings, this doesnt really work in PPSSPP.Game has pretty much no sound, videos dont work and it bugs out the moment you get to actual gameplay.
2.Besides a very irritating slowdown when conversations come around, works very well on Jpcsp
3.Didin't try pcsp.

< report >Use JPCSP, but not the latest version. Use 3081, no random slowdowns.

< report >God, this game was great.
I highly, highly recommend this; while it's easy, it's also a hell of a lot of fun.

< report >I was able to complete the game with PPSSPP with almost no problems, after adjusting the settings.
-You need to have the latest build, (v0.8.1-471 or better)
-Open your PPSSPP.ini file and under [Graphics] change "FramebuffersToMem = False" to "FramebuffersToMem = True" and "FramebuffersCPUConvert = False" to "FramebuffersCPUConvert = True".
-Go to Settings > Audio > Enable Sound > Download Atrac3+ plugin > Enable Atrac3+.
-I had to disable "Hardware Transform" in the Graphics section.
-There was occasionally a text bug, but whenever this happened it was easily fixed by pressing the F2 button.

This game is may be a pain to setup, but it's well worth it. It's a good game, with a good story.

< report >Question: is this voice acted? It says 'Protagonist with Partial Voice Acting' in the tags, but what about the other characters?

< report >@9 Yes, the other characters are voiced

< report >@10 Well, they are, though "partially" voice acted is more approprate. Parts of the game are fully voiced, but in many of the lines what is actually voiced is something more like a shortened generic line, instead of the full line. For example, if the character's line is "No way, he must be lying!", the voice might say "No way!"

I think this actually works extremely well for a translation, since if you don't understand Japanese, you mostly just want the tone of the voice to add flavor anyway.Last modified on 2013-07-15 at 01:14

< report >I can't install official firmware update 6.60. therefore I couldn't install CFW PRO 6.60 which is needed to play this VN flawlessly.

only managed to install official firmware update 6.20. Now stuck.

< report >I got the game working now and currently in chapter 1. Dropping by just to say the voices are cut-off terribad. is this normal or should I use another 6.20 custom firmware?

< report >As I said above, the game is "partially" voiced, with many lines only given a generic substitute instead of the full line. That said, it shouldn't cut off in the middle of a sound or anything.

< report >1. is this also the same issue with 6.60 custom firmware?
2. is this also true with the original ISO files? Because I see no reason why the TL team would butcher those voice files (at least effort-wise).

< report >No firmware upgrade is going to give you access to voice files that don't exist. I haven't played the Japanese version, so I guess I can't say with 100% certainty, but I'm reletively certain the original must be the same way.

Edit: Looking at the comments, it seems some people do have voice problems, where the voices stop completely. In the game, most lines should have at least a generic sound effect.Last modified on 2013-07-27 at 04:43

< report >so umm, yeah. finished it a while ago.

The "premise" is nothing special. It's redeeming quality lies on the class trials thus if you remove that from the game there would be nothing left. The "big reveal" can also be brushed off to the side completely since... who cares when everything is over anyway? If you'd ask me if its worth the effort for a TL then I'd say "no". But that's not to say the game is horrible. I'd say decent at best. Personally, I have 3 things in this VN that is noteworthy which would definitely improve my "decent" rank to "above decent".

1. the title of chapter 1 being イキキル and it was translated as "kill free or die hard". Now that I can actually read katakana I can further appreciate the TL note that they provided. It was rather flavorful of them to actually end up with such a translation.
2. Togami's epic tsundere nearly the end game. I really lol'd there.
3. That one particular hard question given by Monokuma in chap 6. The one heavily resembling Nanjo's murder in game 3 of Umineko. If you've played the game you'd instantly know what I'm talking about. Took me a long time before finally answering it, and when I did the "wow" factor hit me hard.

If I had to guess, the biggest motivation for the TL team to do this could be purely because of note 3 alone. But that's just me.

< report >@24 Well, which games register emotion varies greatly from person to person. Chapters 1 and 2 were both emotional for me. The gameplay was entertaining, but the story is what makes it rank so highly.

If I had to voice a complaint, it would be how everyone had western ordered names in the translation. It seemed unnatural, and it made them extremely hard to remember.
