< report >Just to check, did you make extra character entries (linked with instances) for v1894 because the art seemed to be redrawn for a later release of the VN?

< report >Yes. Did I do something wrong? They look slightly different and their visual traits such as hair length and eye color were altered a bit.Last modified on 2013-07-25 at 21:20

< report >Probably not... just wondering why there are two nearly identical character entries for each heroine. Plus I didn't think the traits actually had to be different.
I asked Yorhel what he thinks about redrawn characters, since it happens occasionally, and even if the traits were the same, the image is noticably different.Last modified on 2013-07-25 at 21:09

< report >Warning: Rant below!
Before modding this game, when I saw its cover and its characters, I thought that something is weird about them. Almost like if it wasn't the same novel. I even looked if it had any prequels or something and the character sprites are possibly taken from them. Then after I started modding the characters, I realized this novel just had a remake with a significant style change and minor trait changes.
Actually, I saw much more serious cases of style changes in a remake or a sequel of the original novel, so I though that this case may be a borderline. So thank you for clearing this up so soon.Last modified on 2013-07-25 at 21:30

Almost like if it wasn't the same novel.I don't think the original character sprites are -that- different from the cover art. Although if you were reading the VN with one set of sprites, then switched over to the other set of sprites, I think it could be a -little- jarring.

< report >First, it's really inconvenient that this discussion is spread over 3 different threads.
The difference in art is not even nearly large enough to justify creating new instances for every character. In fact, the art stile is very similar and character design is the same.
Creating separate entries might have been fine if character design was completely different, but this is not the case here.

< report >I agree about the thread being separated. But on everything else I have already expressed my opinion. I agree neither with you, immlff, nor with gabe. The reasons are listed above in this thread. Now it's only for Yorhel to decide, I suppose.
(My reasoning: They look slightly different because of the new style and their visual traits such as hair length and eye color were altered a bit.)Last modified on 2013-07-27 at 09:34

< report >So what you are saying is that a 1% change in character design is enough to justify a separate instance? Then what about stuff like Eien no Aselai, where the characters differ at least that much between their tachies and their CG versions? Or Da Capo where sometimes the artists screwed up and had the wrong eye color for the heroines in their CGs? Should we have different instances for those as well?
No, wait, I know something even better: what of a character has multiple sets of clothes or wears his/hear hair differently from time to time? And should we add a separate instances for every game with a beach scene where the heroines let their hair down and wear swimsuits? It's bigger that a 1% difference, so we should, shouldn't we? [/sarcasm]

< report >Quoting myself from t2108.358 (keeping the discussion here is good, conclusion can go to t2108):
I agree with Immlff and will delete the instances later.
I don't feel too strongly against creating instances for style changes, but in this case it really isn't major, and doesn't seem worth the instances.
Some people around here actually add extra entries for characters with different clothing, but I DON'T.Do you have examples?
@bin: Again, stop taking criticism personally. Gabezhul isn't attacking *you*, but the idea of creating instances for minor changes. Disagreements and arguments on this topic are to be expected, because we haven't had previous experience on this topic and the guidelines regarding instances aren't very clearly cut.Last modified on 2013-07-27 at 14:53

Fine. I'll agree with all you have written.

Do you have examples? No, I didn't bookmark these pages. But if I see them again I'll let you know by posting them straight to the candidates for deletion thread, ok?Last modified on 2013-07-27 at 20:29
