< report >I'm curious if anyone knows what happened to Neko-Soft? Their site is defunkt, and the blogspot site they have have received no updates whatsoever in almost a year. I've attempted to find some way to contact them, but unsuccessfully.

< report >After some more digging, I've been informed by someone who seemed in the know that Neko-Soft has been disbanded, and that some have gone to work for nyaatrap who did the translation of Eng->Jap for Sugar's Delight. As such it seems that Chocolate's Delight is on definite hold as well. Too bad. :(

< report >Nyaatrap's listed to be the developer for Sugar's Delight here, so I have a sneaking suspicion that Neko-Soft really is just Nyaatrap but retranslated to English for an English-speaking audience.

Even more interestingly, that website also listed works under Nyaatrap that is made after Sugar's Delight.

What is even odder is that there is a release for the soundtrack, supposedly to go along with v9408, located here, but it could be assumed that the development for that VN has been cancelled.

Is there actually a "canceled" status in VNDB anyhows?Last modified on 2014-06-25 at 07:04

< report >Neko-Soft, the eroge/nukige group is dead. I know, since I worked with them. It is NOT nyaatrap, we just happened to collaborate.

The Saga of Original Sin development is cut short. For simple lack of funds to commission the rest of the art. It is script complete. I have the build sitting on my hard drive. It is not going anywhere.

But the leadership is now Winged-Cloud, who's going to release Sakura Spirit w/ Sekai Project and Mangagamer. (And who were also responsible for otome game Pyrite Heart and also working on Guardian's Spell, who share same artist.)

The main artist for Sugar's Delight seemed to be involved in Swords of Edo, but I couldn't confirm if it's still true.

So they all exist somehow, but only as all-age/ecchi-only entities.

< report >Not involved with that (it's a revolving door group for the most part), but I believe pretty much, dead.

< report >#6 I heard that Neko-Soft is outsourcing (or maybe another group picked up the project, don't really know the details) the writing for Chocolate's Delight, implying the project is still being developped, is that true?Last modified on 2014-06-25 at 18:20

< report >@booger: sorry for being skeptical, but do you have any proof for your involvement?

Also if you are involved with The Saga of Original Sin, what is the deal with the soundtrack release? Did you commission him in advance? You said you ran out of funds to commission the artworks; who is/was/was to be (damn participles) the illustrator for that VN?Last modified on 2014-06-26 at 00:24

< report >Proof: link

The musician is a professional, not the usual EVN wannabe like me. At the time he was experimenting and thinking hentai hell yeah why not and offered a good price package for indies. Naturally that meant right to market own OST... surrendering all rights would have been very expensive.

Though small at 15 tracks, the OST is more or less complete.

The illustrator I believe is the same who's working on Sakura Spirit, I never actually talk to the artists; we all talk to leader (Xent) The files just appear in my Dropbox. But one day I was just unshared.

< report >On Chocolate's Delight, we (random folks from Kawa-Soft) are the last ones Neko-Soft outsourced it to (apparently a lot of writers tried but failed to do it before us).

Problem is, xrth (project leader) severed all communication means with us in January 2014 without any warning, so we kinda stopped writing it a few weeks afterwards (no point in writing for nothing...). It's quite a shame though, a lot of people in my team really liked the CG they provided us.

< report >#11 I see, that's a shame. Thanks for the clarification. It would be cool if someone could pick up the project, but the illustrator seems to be quite busy, so it would be kind of difficult, I think.

< report >I've investigated dead VN projects before, but this is the first time I've interacted with people who actually worked on it.

Thank you very much for the replies. This has been very interesting.

@booger: I'd rate Sakura Spirit at 15+ rather than all-ages just going from the cover alone but hey.Last modified on 2014-06-26 at 14:47

< report >Hopefully Chocolate's Delight isn't entirely pining for the fjords, just sleeping.
I really do encourage everyone who worked on it to get together if possible.Last modified on 2014-06-26 at 16:37

< report >Well, as far as I'm concerned, I'd gladly work on it again. But since I can't reach anybody at Neko-Soft on that matter, I don't really know what to do.

< report >It's a matter of funding and the amount of time people want to put in it I guess.

If it were Japan and the members are in a doujin group, because it could be sold at least for some profit, then I guess there would be more motivation.

But I digress.

< report >Will gladly continue on Original Sin as well, but it is not my IP. And it has tons of incomplete graphics work.

mereck >> are your graphics complete though? Is it just a matter of writing/coding/putting it together, or will you need a high caliber artist to finish it?

< report >booger >> it's almost complete for the CG. We only got one out of two main characters with full pose sprites and we only have 2 sprites for the other. No secondary character sprite either.
As for the BG... well, we don't have any...

< report >I'm assuming the BGs are from DLsite off-the-shelf Japanese locations. At least that was for most of BGs for Sugar's Delight / Idoling Alice.

< report >Too bad Neko-soft is beyond hope. We can probably safely assume that we won;t be seeing it in existence as a full game in this world.

< report >@18&19: if Christine Love can actually buy her sprites from existing sprite/BG vendors (they exist), then so can anyone.
