Not sure. I'm not worried about it from a technical perspective (well, except it makes pages heavier on user bandwidth, but whatever). I'll need to experiment with how it looks and how much space it will take.

@isellpc: Thanks for the feedback. I don't disagree with your analysis, but there's one thing to keep in mind: VNDB is not trying to sell VNs. We do help people in making a choice, but that's not our only purpose. VNDB is also intended as a reference where people can lookup information on a VN they saw on some other site. Screenshots are, in that scenario, not much of a priority. A "more like this" block is definitely not a priority, but has been discussed before and might be added at some point. Some possible implementations are on vnstat.net, in any case.

It's better to compare VNDB to wikipedia than to a shop.

EDIT: Oh well and gone is the wall of text. *shrug*

@75 Thanks for the CSS. Have tried a few variants but did not come upon that acronym.

Adding thumbnails would make the cast block taller, and users are already complaining about its presence on a VN's main tab.

If we're keeping the staff and cast blocks in the main tab, they should be collapsible. Maybe have controls to "Show Staff" and "Show Characters", a bit like the "Show Sexual Traits" control on VN character tabs. (Will also need checkboxes in the user profile page to store default display settings.)

Minor staff roles... if someone can be bothered to add them, let them knock themselves out. Adding a "minor" flag sounds good.

I think the layout for the Staff block is pretty cool, particularly the way it adapts to the window width to reduce wasted space.

The Character Summary (replace with "Cast"?) block... is better than what was there previously, but there seems to be a lot of redundant information. ...like, "Main Character" is written once for _every_ main character in the game, and "Voiced by" is written once for every voiced character. There should be a more efficient way... although if you're going to add thumbnails, there's probably little room for improvement.Last modified on 2015-12-01 at 07:54

Small batch of changes:
- I've disabled the interface translations (t6463.65)
- Changing your password now requires your current password
- E-mail search when creating a new account or requesting a password reset is now case-insensitive.

I also broke all forms for about 30 minutes. Sorry about that.

Another minor update:
- The staff and character boxes on VN pages are now cut off if they're large, you can see the whole thing by hitting 'more'.

inb4 "I hate it, please make this a setting!"

good idea, but it should probably cut off at exactly 2 lines of character entries, right now it's like two and a half, and for entries with three lines it doesn't really save any space and is a bit annoying to look at.

I also think that this is a good idea, but in my opinion, it'll probably be better to leave this just for the character boxes. Staff ones are usually not that big.

See v3896.11.

It's a nice feature. ^^ Minor error: the "more" and "less" labels are hanging a bit lower than they should be on Chrome, but not IE (!).Last modified on 2016-01-11 at 07:27

I just pushed (yet another) large internal rewrite. Nothing visible should have changed. You know the drill, report anything unusual. :-)

I don't know when it happened, or if I had just missed it this whole time, but I'm really glad we can search both "releases" and "visual novel" tags at the same time, it's really convenient. Thanks
