OELVN credits

Hey, just wanted to ask you about some of the staff edits you're making. I thought we were only supposed to add staff that's actually credited in the VN; presumably Georgina Bensley is the writer/director of Sword Daughter, but she's not specifically credited in the game itself. And for Loren The Amazon Princess, Celso Riva is credited as "original idea, storyboard, ruleset, extra coding"; where are you getting Director from? Is that a reasonable translation of "storyboard" for other OELVNs?

(Also I disagree that Georgina Bensley's site should be the Hanako Games site rather than her personal blog; we're talking about the individual, not the company.)Last modified on 2015-01-29 at 21:34

Considering the staff DB is kinda new, I'm winging the edits I'm not sure about. For example, the person who takes the work of many different people and puts it together into a completed VN is "Director" for me. That encompases original idea, storyboard and coding for me. At least that's my interpretation. After all, Mr. Riva is the sole member of "Winter Wolves" (everything else is commisioned). Thus my interpretation is that it makes him the Director of all WW games by default. I haven't seen anything in the discussions that would contradict that.
Was it ever said that we shouldn't add uncredited persons? I don't know, but it would be kinda dumb not to credit Georgina in "Sword Daughter" where she did the lion's share of work. Would sort of go against the idea of a comprehensive DB...
As for the site, Georgina herself contacted me and requested to change the site to hanakogames.com, instead of her personal blog.

Your explanation re: director makes sense; thanks.

And I swear to God the guidelines said only add stuff that's credited in the VN, but maybe I was just tired -_- I agree that she obviously was the writer/director of SD, but in principle it doesn't seem like a good idea to add roles that aren't specifically credited, because then we end up with a shitton of obscure Japanese vns with a staff list that's based on "well, obviously..." rather than solid citations that can be verified. JMO; @yorhel should weigh in on this.

This is why I've mostly been adding voice actors, myself. Much safer =PLast modified on 2015-01-29 at 21:36

Hope you don't mind me butting in, but you're right that staff roles should only be listed in VNDB if they are verifiable. That said, I don't agree that a game's credits should be the only verifiable source. The game's website, interviews, etc. should also be considered valid sources, imo.

Ah, that's true. Thanks; that does relieve some of my fears.
