< report >Try starting it with Japanese locale.

I remember having a similar problem with Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo.
Using AppLocale solved it.

< report >perhaps you people getting involved in the VN industry should start changing your system locale in the control panel to Japanese.. i mean, i always see this problem arising.. it's not that convenient.. \ will just become a yen symbol anyway.. or if you can't do that, always have an AppLocale with you..

< report >Actually, even with Applocale applied there seem to be problems for some with this game. For me for example, I get a message saying theres a problem with "osana.tmp"

< report >I've heard that some games are extreme and you have to change your time zone to GMT+8 as well but that doesn't really seem to be the case for you. So to be honest, I don't really know what the problem is. It might be alright if you reinstall the game. But that's probably not any help, seeing as the last post was made a month ago.

< report >This is long overdue but if anyone else has a problem running it you probably need to update the game with the official JAST patch

< report >^ JAST's version wasn't even available when the OP asked for help, so that clearly wasn't the problem.

< report >TBH (while I know it's late) the problem was probably you weren't running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

I always take it as a given that the vast majority of Japanese programs are designed to only run on Windows XP computers, with below 720p resolutions (or the og 800x600) that are set exactly as you would in Japan to all the system, app and time locales set to Japanese.
