Apparently, it takes place in the Beta world line, the divergence Okabe was living in before he sent the very first D-Mail (so Kurisu stays dead, though the video seems to suggest she'll come back somehow)... which means World War III? The destruction in the video implies that. But then it's not actually a "true sequel", since it's the Beta world line... unless other timelines (mainly Steins;Gate) are somehow important to the story.

Hyped *__*

ffggdmc has summarized my thought but at least it should be better than Senkei Kousoku no Phenogram which I feel is totally useless until you really love reading the same thing again and again and again like if you were stuck in a... time loop. Well, that's 5pb. for you. I don't think there is more opportunist than them.
I should thank them by not allowing me to read all those VN since it's console-only because even though I know how bad Hayashi Naotaka is as a sci-fi writer, I cannot help but be tempted.

ffgdmc's got it indeed.

Scenario doesn't seem like it'll have Shimokura Vio's help since that guy's busy with Tokyo Necro atm. Hasayashi on his own might not make anything worthwhile compared to the original S;G. Kind of like how a couple of VNs he's worked on weren't very good.

Will get the ost at least, Abo Takeshi never disappoints.Last modified on 2015-03-29 at 06:13

5pb is going to milk Steins;Gate for as long as it keeps making money.

Nitro+ doesn't seem to be involved with this one, so I think it can be safely ignored.

It's going to be mostly stuff that was already released as a Drama CD and Light Novels, so I doubt it will be bad. I don't think they can fail at copy pasting.

Unless the source material is bad.

Not in this case, though. The Epigraph Trilogy and Drama CD Beta (that are essentially the source material) are easily the best of S;G spin offs out there. If not to say "almost the only good ones".Last modified on 2015-03-30 at 00:39

And we all know that commissioned LN can't be bad.
Btw, who wrote them?Last modified on 2015-03-30 at 00:39

Some guy named Takimoto Masashi. (瀧本正至, but apparently he uses his name written in hiragana). He has a page on EGS, but I can't access it at the moment.
From what I know about him, he was with Hayashi since KID days, so I guess he knows what he's doingLast modified on 2015-03-30 at 00:48

Can't think of anything else but cashgrab...
They should really stop where it's good.

Well except this writer of the original novels isn't working on this game.
Also Nitro+ is co-developing all Chaos;Head/Steins;Gate/Robotics;Notes games aside from Octet.
Though Chaos;Child is the first game where they were just cooperating (協力) with 5pb.

So, Nitro+ is working on this? Or not? Also, if it was a true sequel... wouldn't it take place after the true ending? Perhaps this is the story of the Okabe who helped prepare the true ending Okabe we see from Steins;Gate? That's my guess after watching the video.

Also, does anyone know when this will be released in English? Has any group stepped up and said they'd translate it? Also also, will this ever come out for PC? I don't have a PS3,4, etc...

I will take advantage of this bump to ask:
Like it seems to have worked for JAST and like it has been one year since the release, did they say anything about localizing Steins;Gate Senkei Kousoku no Phenogram (or this 0 one or any pseudo_sci-fi_adventure_series VN)?Last modified on 2015-09-09 at 00:24

JAST doesn't do console games. :P

Any console games would be more likely from PQube, who did the English release of Steins;Gate for PS3/Vita.Last modified on 2015-09-09 at 00:45

Ok, but PQube used the translation made by JAST, isn't it?
Do we have any number about the sales JAST did (or PQube)?
I know JAST doesn't do console games but if the game really sold well, why couldn't they find a way to port on consoles like 5pb. used Nitro+ to develop her game on PC? (Or even create a PC version from scratch like MG do sometimes. Ok, I am dreaming.)

It'd be more fair to say that PQube used revised fan TL as JAST did.
Wasn't there some rumors about PQube's mysterious hints regarding the possibility of localizing other SciADV titles?
I heard something about making the announcement in the end of the summer, but seeing how it's already September I guess those were just rumors.

Based on what you said, I found the source of your rumor. Not really strong evidence. It was not even the end of the summer but the end of July.
I hope it's not Chaos;Head Noah, seriously, if it's true. Someone to ask confirmation?Last modified on 2015-09-09 at 07:14

That pqube email coincides with this ask.fm entry from a person who was involved with the localization of Steins;Gate and other SciADV stuff: link

It's hard to say how much stock to put into his specific response, he may have just been referencing that email, or he may have also had some inside information considering he has worked S;G in an official capacity. I get the feeling that Chaos;Head Noah was meant to be announced at Otakon and something happened at the last minute to cancel the announcement. Or if not C;HN, something else in the SciADV series.

Do take note that S;G worldline (1.084596% iirc) is in the Beta line.

(so Kurisu stays dead, though the video seems to suggest she'll come back somehow)

If you'd just believe in the Witch of Miracles then she would cast a spell to make the impossible, possible. after all, red truth: the real requirement was to fool the attractor field. Meaning Kurisu doesn't need to stay dead.Last modified on 2015-09-09 at 12:49

Hey, this is exactly the story line of the three part Stein's;Gate manga spin off. Here's the first one: link

Edit: I need to be refreshed, this Beta timeline is Mayuri's ending in the original game right?Last modified on 2015-12-17 at 19:22

The ratings this thing is getting are pretty insane lol. So is it really that much better than the original Steins;Gate?

#13 I think it can be considered "true sequel" in the sense that the Beta timeline is the "original/true" timeline Okabe started out in, Titor wrote about WWIII, Kurisu died, etc.
Steins Gate timeline was just one more step beyond that, the ideal reality for Okabe, but not his "original" one.
