I've been a fan of the Higurashi series for years, but I find myself being turned away from Mangagamer because of their behavior regarding, well, this.

Is anybody else feeling this way? I'd really like it if they would edit that sprite to be less risque. It doesn't even fit the tone of the story they way they drew it.Last modified on 2015-04-09 at 15:52

There's nothing wrong with what MG does. SJWs should be ignored, since they are crazy and are not MGs customers anyway.

It doesn't even fit the tone of the story
Initial R07 sprite is completely nude, you have no fucking idea what are you talking about.

Who cares about what person says in his personal ask/Twitter? If you don't like his opinion, then don't read it.

Anyway, all this hate about new sprites is just stupid. You have an option to get the old sprites back, so what else do you want?

Dude, just give it a break. You've been at this for months. You're not going to "win." Give up and go home.

The new, sexualized sprites look great actually.

I didn't know what to said about them (Well this is the title lol)

- I think this is as retard as Neal Chandran from RPGFan (My first post here about him and his bad review about Higurashi).

- It's not like they have easy way to boycott MangaGamer anyway.

- Even so, unless MangaGamer sell something like said Ever17 and add 10 hour of Sex Scene (And badly drawn at that since Ever17 is not eroge in the first place anyway), I think they don't have the right to raise protest about Satoko in Tatarigoroshi anyway and boycott it.

- And if they didn't like it, they simply could ignore it and purchase old Higurashi and play it.

- Or if the original sprite of Satoko is insulting because it was naked, just search PS2 graphic patch and apply it.

- It's not like Satoko will appear naked more than once anyway.

Sorry for bad English and well I kinda at loss for the titleLast modified on 2015-04-09 at 17:36

Yeah, probably a few other SJWs who are against the freedom of expression in art and think that any kind of nudity is Devil's creation.

Seriously, I would have lost my faith in humanity... if I had any. :PLast modified on 2015-04-09 at 16:51

Even my chinese interactive picture books aren't safe form SJW threat. Quite terrifying. There's only one way to oppose it.

I henceforth proclaim this community to be called the Erogay Community, a community of the people sexually attracted to cartoons.
We've been under oppression for enough time already! SJWs reading this, you're supposed to fight with us against the privileged ones, how dare you deny our freedums?!Last modified on 2015-04-09 at 17:38

Seriously, this is the dumbest boycott ever.

She's not really naked, and it's quite funny how people don't even know what the term "naked" means.

Authoritarian galore. Teenagers telling other teenagers what is socially acceptable, how to act, and which companies to boycott while flaunting their supposed ''liberality'' Doesn't really apply to the whole of Tumblr, but there is definitely a strong presence of authoritarians there.

I can understand disliking censorship, but this has nothing to do with any of that.Last modified on 2015-04-09 at 18:40

I've always thought that Ryukishi07-fanatics are not well in the head, so I'm not really surprised they have SJW people among their numbers.

I really doubt that all this began from Ryukishi07-fanatics, though.
I'd imagine most of this people haven't even played the game, as evidenced by constant misinterpretation of the sprite in question.Last modified on 2015-04-09 at 19:16

Supposedly Tumblr is pretty good for ero related content, like, 50% of Tumblr is porn.

"MangaGamer refuses to immediately alter the game to my demands!" =/= "MangaGamer is unprofessional!" They explained why they made the artistic choices they did, that Ryuukishi07 approved them, and that it's possible to mod the game if you feel the need. What else do you expect, exactly?

I'm pretty sure the bulk of this movement is just one guy who has been trying to stir up shit about this sprite for the last six months or so. The guy will post with different usernames to various forums trying to make it look like he has more support than he does. Nobody listens to him but he hasn't stopped his one-man crusade, I guess. He even tried posting about this in 4chan, which yielded predictable results. I'm surprised it took him this long to post about this here.

I'll agree with everyone else: this crusade is stupid. If you want the original Ryukushi art, then buy the original game from MG's site. Everyone else can continue to enjoy the improved art while you stir yourself into a frenzy about sexualization of cartoon characters.

I can't say the argument that the new art is more sexualized is incorrect, but I'm guessing they contracted an eroge artist... with the expected results. I doubt it'll bother the vast majority of VN readers.

I don't see at all the argument that Mangagamer is acting unprofessionally. Seems like you're just upset and looking to take it out on them for not getting what you want.Last modified on 2015-04-10 at 00:04

I have seen the original sprites. I know what the original looks like, but it just seems like MangaGamer's intentions weren't sincere (Why does theirs have shiny skin? Why are most of their other sprites modeled after the Alchemist versions instead? What was up with their original comment?). For the record, the unprofessionalism was referring to their responses, not just the sprite. Anyway, while I don't agree that it's as simple as some of you say, I have no intention of arguing. Something happened right after I posted this thread that made me sick of the whole thing.Last modified on 2015-04-10 at 00:51

I agree with the OP in one thing: the original response from MangaGamer was unprofessional. You don't say stuff like "for whatever other reason you may have" as an official statement for a company. I give him that. They probably were just annoyed by the question, gave a quick explanation, then shooed him away. As a private person, would've done the same. But as an official statement, it lacks in professionalism since it gives way too much space for intentional or unintentional misinterpretations. That gives some ground for this crusade to stand on.

That doesn't make said crusade any less stupid though.Last modified on 2015-04-10 at 02:40
