< report >Hi, I have been on VNDB for a long time but I registered yesterday. Wouldn't it be better if we can add a VN as "planning to read" ? for ex. I'm studying for my entrance exam most of the day and I dont't have much time to read. I'm plannig to read "Noble☆Works" after my exam but for now I had to tag it as "playing" because there is no choice like "plan to read". Maybe you would say I can add it to my list when I started to read it but probably won't be able remember its name. I want to categorize all my novels in one like VNDB so can you add "plan to read" status?

(note: sorry for bad english)

< report >Probably, something like "Rereading" would also be pretty useful.

< report >Isn't the "wishlist" pretty much the option you're looking for? It's exactly for the VNs you haven't started yet, but plan to read in the future.

< report >^I thought the wishlist was for VNs you hadn't obtained yet, but planned to.

< report >It's for whatever you want to use it for.
You can just stick it under the 'Unknown' category, or stick a note on it.

< report >I wanted an extended wishlist and a new status for a long time, but yorhel doesn't seem to prioritize this much. I don't know why, it doesn't seem too hard to me to just extend some lists which already exist, but I don't about vndb's backend so I might be wrong.

Whatever, a "planning to read" status would be much appreciated. And no, non of those solutions mentioned here would work for me. You can't just add a note, because notes are not searchable. Wishlists are not searchable either, but even if, you only have three wishlists and three priorities for wishes are already far too few! I can't waste a priority by turning it into a "planning to read" list! ;_;

< report >I would like to see some new list added as well.

very high and very low setting for wishlist
&
plan to read and other setting for VN list

also
can a option similar to exclude blacklist from search be added to exclude titles on the dropped list,
its kind of annoying to be forced to vote on dropped titles to keep them off a search linkLast modified on 2016-02-14 at 17:50

< report >Well, I've been using the wishlist for this purpose since there wasn't the desired "Plan to Read/Play" option and I didn't have other uses for it anyway. So yeah, I'd appreaciate a "Plan to Read/Play" status for VNs.

But if it won't by added I'd at least appreciate refining the whishlist with "Very High/Low" options as suggested by Hex.

< report >I don't get what the difference between a wishlist and a plan to read list as if you weren't planning to read what you wish. I get it's not enough whatever are your purposes but just ask for custom lists then. Like replacement of the priority (minus the blacklist) by whatever the user wants as list name. Of course filterable, with a button added for each list name in place of the priority buttons.

Wishlists are not searchable either
They are searchable but you need to go to the VN filter. "My lists" tab. I still think indications on producers page, whether you read/stalled/dropped/wished it, would be much appreciated, saving us from looking at each VN to see if it was listed (like you can't search with producers and I don't know you but I do extensive check with prod pages).

What I would want to drastically improve the wishlist system would be thumbnails. I have 350-400 VN in my wishlist and better than custom lists would be the capacity to identify the VN at first glance without having to click on each #### VN page to remember what was that VN again, this one buried in the low priority level. Because, contrary to your VN list, you are not supposed to know by heart what VN you added 2 months ago as a you might want to read it maybe one time sometime tabun. Even more when it's nukige with double barrelled names.

< report >Not a bad idea, though it might make the whishlist look rather cumbersome. Maybe pop-up thumbails over pointed-at entries?Last modified on 2016-02-14 at 21:44

< report >You don't need huge thumbnail. Pop-up thumbnails is the worst idea, not efficient to the slightest and really annoying if your mouse just happens to pass above the results. That doesn't help you to envision in a single glance the whole page like you are supposed to manage the whole list or just want to pick one VN in the middle. With your solution, you are forced to hover again and again back and forth.
I was more thinking about a grid of thumbnails, maybe even without further indications.

Edit: @tyr: I will take a look at that.
Edit2: yeah, it's pretty much what I feared, it's horrible... but better than nothing like it saves you a click+back button.
Edit3: I think I will take a look at the API, if I am able to understand it.Last modified on 2016-02-14 at 22:18

< report >I'm pretty sure you can write a user script for your purpose.
Not sure why you think the API will help you, though....

< report >I am a noob when it comes to handle those technologies. I don't even know how I am supposed to access the API...
I wanted to create my own table with my own client-side ressources. A table linking VN to custom tags to create lists then create my own html by loading the picture (from the API?) to make a nice personal grid.

Something like that.Last modified on 2016-02-15 at 00:00

< report >Waste some hours making something concrete.
Still need to add a layer of jquery to delete the items from my wishlist via the API or put them into the categories I want. I also need to create a form to add new favorites to my list like I can't do that directly on vndb. I guess a user script could do the trick but I currently don't know how to do that.

My botched CSS doesn't accept criticism.
