|There are 2 unavoidable rape scenes within the story that don't involve the MC. (3 if you include reverse rape featuring Narika's dad and Kikyou-dayuu) Hope that answers one of your questions. Even I wonder why the tag disappeared. The VN gives the option to skip them, which I guess is for the squeamish, but I don't think it helps much since the bitter feeling will still remain. |@25 It's mostly either "consensual sex with MC" or "rape by others" for most of the game, but there's definitely some "Protagonist-organised Netorare" in the evil routes, so I've gone ahead and added that tag.Last modified on 2017-04-22 at 01:51|

This game is not bad but it's also not good. I would say that for it's sheer length, it's not really worth one's time, unless you really like these type of games...with little to no substance to the gameplay or story. Maybe do a route or two at most.
As for the sex, it's nothing really special. I'd recommend masturbating to something else.
I have no idea why Mangagamer decided to acquire this title.Last modified on 2017-06-22 at 12:21

^It was apparently highly successful in Japan (this alone is enough reason for MG). It also caters to the NTR audience and the 'mainstream' audience. 2 birds with 1 stone.

The good thing about this game is, that english readers get an Aoba Ringo role with this game. The bad thing is, that it's not a particularly good one, if you ask me.
But hey, Hapymaher is coming. That one was good.

@30 another Purple Software game? Not to stray from the topic at hand, but I hope it won't get the same reception Chrono Clock got on here.

@28 It was a good business decision because it was the best selling MG game (not including Steam sales of course) of the year 2016.
Holding Rance hostage may have been a factor, but I doubt it was the biggest one.
@30 I don't remember her voice acting being particularly good, but at least the character she voiced (Narika) was the most likable. This is especially true in her brutal route.
@31 Most of the complaints about Chrono Clock seem to be about tl quality than anything else.Last modified on 2017-06-22 at 16:16

@30 Well there's Nemu from euphoria and Kanade from Deardrops if we talk about Ringorin. Also if you get fan translated, there's Maya from Noble Work and the mayor from Dracu Riot. Oh, and Riku from Sorcery Joker which I think it'll be released first before Hapymaher considering the translation for Sorcery Joker was at 100% translated

I see, I was perhaps too hasty. I'm actually surprised to hear it was that sucessful. It does have its good points, I personally really do like some characters (Narika, Subaru, Orochimaru) because of their personalities and respective VA's. I really wish Subaru had more H-Scenes tho

@32: I didn't actually liked Narika's voice-acting myself. It sound really weird to me. But the voice-actress CAN be pretty damn good. Depends on role and voice-direction I suppose.
@31: It's by a completely different writer, so if your complaints weren't about the art or OST, you shouldn't let your enjoyment of Chrono Clock influence your view on Hapymaher. That said, you shouldn't expect some massive masterpiece either, but it has its strengths. If you like surreal stuff, Alice in Wonderland and such, as well as strong girls, you should keep it in mind. (strong girls as in, Hapymaher is actually one of those games that don't make you necessarily enjoy a harem situation and the girls are pretty strong willed in general, more so than the protagonist for the most part)

@34 MG's buyer base has a huge bias for gameplay and sex heavy titles. Though it should be remembered that selling really well by Mangagamer standards is only one thousand. One estimate for Haruka I've seen was 4k in 2016, but that was speculation based on calculating order numbers.
IMO, Haruka's gameplay was only decent at best, but never felt detrimental to the experience like in the average RPG maker DL site game. Battles were quick and painless and had a convenient autolose button to get those H-scenes. The castle running segments were easy to cheese and an unnecessary gameplay element but looked nice aesthetically, and the dice roll gameplay for the training scenes was surprisingly addicting and rarely too much of a hassle.
On a slightly related topic, I tried the Beat Valkyrie Ixseal trial. I couldn't read the text though which means this is an incomplete impression of the game.
The training has been streamlined and only requires spending a form of energy rather than rolling some dice. You can customize how much a sexual act increases certain stats or replenish AP to reduce or increase the cost of said act.
In contrast, the battles are more complex and are definitely the main focus of the game. You can fight up to three enemies at once, which provides a bit more variety overall.
AP can be used to buy skills, and you can set the order the character can use the skills. The character's personal skills are set to lists A, B, and C, Each list holds up to 5 skills, and in battle you can switch the lists. For example, after you use skill 1 on list A, you can use skill 2 on either list A, B, or C. There is a lot more variety of skills and some of those skills look like support skills, but I haven't checked.
It's not in the trial, but the trailers show that you eventually end up 2 characters at once. Both characters have their own individual lists, so while one character is on List A, character 2 can be on their list B. Overall compared to Haruka, there's a lot more customization involved and less RNG.
There was no equivalent to castle invading in the Ixseal trial, but castle invading didn't appear in Haruka for a while.Last modified on 2017-06-22 at 19:29

That's the nice thing about Haruka. The gameplay isn't deep or anything big, but it can be a little catchy. Even this optional bonus-game you can play to unlock some CG or whatever. You can't really lose, unless you try to, meaning it goes on forever, but it's sorta fun for what it is. Like the one time you'll be playing it.
Alice Soft tends to have pretty nice gameplay.

@38 ...you really want to know? you really want that spoiled for you? ...ok fine
#1: Subaru was getting gangraped by onis
#2: A possessed Subaru formed a dick and raped Haruka
#3: Narika's dad was getting reverse-raped by Kikyou-dayuu
I'm sure I remembered all that correctly. It's been a while since I last played it. I might come back to it at some point just to unlock a few more endings and stuff.Last modified on 2018-02-02 at 22:20

Not too fond of this game (not terrible by any means, but not amazing, either), but am I the only one who hated how ALL the "vanilla" sex scenes had that annoying lullaby song in the background? It didn't even fit a few of the scenes (why was it playing during the 3P?)Last modified on 2018-07-10 at 23:02
