< report >>2.
Most VN adaptations of LNs I've seen use anime design rather than the LN design, so you would then concede those can be tagged with "based on anime" as well?

>3.
I don't understand what you are getting at. If the VN follows the scenario from the LN/anime, then the faithfulness to the scenario matter, if it doesn't, then the "faithfulness" doesn't matter. So far so good. But how do you jump from that and say "original" material is now decidedly more closer to the VN than the anime because it doesn't follow the scenario of neither the LN nor the anime? Hell chances are such a VN will use the character design of the anime in that case as well (see my first point) and it will have more in common with the anime than the LN in that sense, since the plotline will be entirely original anyway.

If you are capable of demonstrating those VNs are in no way "based on" those animes, I will concede and rectify my votes. However citing how other websites don't handle it like this won't change my mind.Last modified on 2021-01-11 at 19:12

< report >That's not how burden of proof works. You are tagging them with a new tag. You prove that they are based on the anime from credits/interview/obscure author post. Until then, based on x refers to the original work, the way everyone uses it. From a user viewpoint, taking an existing word and twisting its meaning makes a tag worse.

The VN adapts the original except for extremely rare cases which get specified
You have not proven this claim. I can (and will) assume a VN is also based on the anime (their character designs are based on anime most of the time anyway) unless I see some strong evidence against it.

< report >if you look at the credits of all vn games they credit both the ln author and the consortium made just for that anime's production. as a result, it should be both. otherwise, you can say the ln author is credited for and in the anime as well, so it should be just "anime" tag, not "ln" tag.Last modified on 2021-01-13 at 03:12
