< report >I'd say so. With the exception of some console titles that force a copyright watermark on screenshots, there shouldn't by anything in the screenshot that is not part of the game.

< report >So, the Switch and PS4 physical editions of Fault Milestone One (both standard and collectors) have been sold on the Limited Run Games website this past summer. (r46643, r78701, r78702, r78700)
The website pages say:
"This release is not a part of the Limited Run Games Collection and is not a numbered release. We are distributing this title on behalf of Sekai Project. Missing out on this release will not compromise a complete Limited Run set."
and the covers only show the Sekai Games logo, and not the Limited Run Games logo.
What am I supposed to put in the publisher field? Both? If only one, which one? I currently chose only Sekai Games.

< report >While LRG says they are just distributing the game, they did manufacture the physicals, didn't they? They aren't simply serving as a store, are they? In that case, I'd say they are a co-publisher. Unless it was SP that manufactured the discs, and only had LRG ship them...

|< report >Hmm Libra of the Vampire Princess: Lycoris & Aoi in "The Promise" PLUS Iris in "Homeworld" clearly seems to be a Japanese-made game but has no Japanese release. |< report >is there any point in keeping 3 original trial screenshots for entries like link and uploading 7 screenshots for full release instead of deleting 3 trial screenshots and just uploading 10 new screenshots for full release? |
is there any point in keeping trial screenshots for some entries in general, if there is no difference between trial and full release?
#508 by beliar
2021-03-26 at 18:13
< report >No, if the trial has identical content that is incorporated in the full game, I don't think there is a reason to keep the screenshots separated as belonging to a trial, and could be merged into the screenshots from the full game.
Note, that in some cases trials have exclusive content, in which case the screens do serve a point to showcase the said content.

< report >Is it permitted to re-use official screenshots if they meet the usual requirements? I couldn't find any statement either way. So far I've assumed that it isn't permitted, and developers seem to be terribly at taking screenshots in general, but it could save a lot of effort when they do get it right.

< report >r67644 was originally released as freeware. However, the developer put a price-tag on it recently, in order to match the just released Steam version. There are no significant differences in content between the free and the commercial release, from what I gather.
Should there be two releases in this case, one for the new commercial release and one for the original (and no longer available) freeware release, or is it sufficient to change the original release to a commercial release and possibly add a note? The same question also applies to r72620, though the Steam version is not out yet.

< report >
Is it permitted to re-use official screenshots if they meet the usual requirements? It's simply discouraged, because the official screens frequently do not correspond to our guidelines. However, there is no law that prevents you from using them, if you are sure they are suitable.
is it sufficient to change the original release to a commercial release and possibly add a noteThis. We don't add a new release entry if the release changes the status between free and paid, or vice versa. Simply changing the status, and possibly adding a note is enough.

< report >Should all girls with routes be listed as main characters? Because I really don't think so.
She has a route, she's a main character.I don't think that's how it works. Side heroines are a thing. Official site shows that all 3 girls whose status was edited from side to main are indeed side heroines (silver crown next to the names, as opposed to the golden crowns the main girls have). Unless they have a serious presence in the overall story, I see no reason to change them to main chars.

< report >Some inconsistencies I noticed in titles.
x人 has three variations in the db: x nin, x-nin, xnin (10-nin but 12nin and even 8 Nin)
Titles with suru verbs like 愛する or 恋する have the suru separate (Ai Suru, Koi Suru), at least majority of the titles, but once suru is in another form such as shiteru, it's almost always together (aishiteru, koishiteru)
Can you say which variations are correct, since I've seen corrections on this recently?

< report >noun+suru, such as 愛する can be treated either like two separate words or like a single word, but words like 愛してる are pretty much their own, even though they have same source. So IMO Ai Suru is ok, but for shiteru form I'd go with "Aishiteru".
This is based on my limited Japanese knowledge, YMMV ;)
*** EDIT ***
Actually, noun+suru form is contraction of "noun + o particle (を) + suru", and that's why I think romanizing both parts separately is OK. But then 愛する and 恋する seem to be a bit different, as those "short" forms seem to be their own new words - they got glued together permanently. So for those two I think romanizing them without space also would be okay. And "Ai Shiteru" romanization looks weird/wrong to me ;)Last modified on 2021-04-12 at 10:06

< report >Is this change correct?
I feel like a db entry should represent the data at release date so retrospective changes in who the publisher is shouldn't warrant a release edit.

a db entry should represent the data at release date so retrospective changes in who the publisher is shouldn't warrant a release edit.from what I understand from discussions with similar case, particularly in this discussion t13596.24, the original release state should be what we generally use. so even if a company want to pull itself out, or even worse delete an entry from the DB, we should just ignore them [t8242.446]. so putting notes like npzmzfg suggested is probably more correct.
