I reeeealy want translation asap!!! )) What I mean is - despite this game being serious chuunige/storige with sci-fi infodumping - protag there gains power through fapping and his dick turns into sword
link or link ) Imagine scenes like this:

Enemy: You lost your arm! Now you can't fap! Give up!
You: Pffft! I can fap by left arm! You can't defeat me!
After that there are discussions about how to fap without arms at all. Variants:
1) clamp it between legs
2) rub it against female knight legs with whom you fighting
3) if you lost legs too - you can rub it against floor!

Masterpiece! Pinnacle of the genre! 10/10 just for the idea alone )))Last modified on 2017-08-24 at 20:05

Yeah, really ridiculous. The serious parts get in the way of the "comedy" and the "comedy" ruins anything serious. This isn't how parody is supposed to work.

I agree, the comedy and seriousness clash too much. I don't know what a parody of this is supposed to be, but the ridiculous perverted humor made me quit the game despite the interesting sci-fi parts. Too bad since I appreciated the writer's previous games and was looking forward to this one.

I guess they tried to take lessons from the Nakige formulae, in which you also have a clash between bright slice-of-life scenes and heavy drama. Here we have a game that juggles between hard scientific explanations and juvenile low-brow humor.

You could also argue that a pure sci-fi story, especially in 18+ form, wouldn't sell well enough even if written decently enough *cough* Steins;Gate *cough*. So they had to add dumb eroge tropes and pointless sex scenes to appease those that only buy these games for the graphics and are otherwise uninterested or unable to understand the themes behind them.

A shame, but I guess it has its audience, just not me.

I admittedly avoid typical moege/eroge like the plague but I don't remember playing a game with such garbage, juvenile "ero" integration. Even more offensive because they are in a game which tries to have complicated and serious plot (like #3 argues).

I also ended up dropping it - picked up this game because somebody compared this game to Steins;Gate, but quality of the characters and overall atmosphere are just so drastically different.Last modified on 2017-08-28 at 16:07

not quite sure how decent 18+ writing would result in the existence or worsened quality of graphics... it would not be "that" 18+ after all if there were not such 18+ content (it would not be 18+ because of sex but because of violence, another genre entirely)

but I guess it has its audience, just not me
based on my experience with RPG Maker Trash games, primarily German ones, the audience you guess would be those which enjoy and write those. Well, it is basically for such Chuu2 which do not just want to be cool (pseudo-serious plot, usually more complicated then it needed to be, otherwise over-dramatized and terribly written by design or inexperience or both) but also want to use as much profanity (especially obscene one) as possible.

So mostly the audience would be adolescents or those who did not mentally mature beyond like 14 (hence also the term chuunibyou). (Do you remember in middle school certain groups of boys shouting "Penis" in class? Exactly that level it is and if you do not remember or ever experience, you have gone to the wrong school).

In any event...
they had to add dumb eroge tropes and pointless sex scenes
that exactly clashes with what would be considered "written decently", one can implement mature/adult content without forcing it and romance is never pointless or unnecessary, it simply is, rather badly written romance would be unnatural, rushed or simply awkward while badly implemented romance distracts from the plot. Usually, to manage screen and interaction time, it is better to have the love interest as near always present Deuteragonist than making them a damsel in distress (well, I suppose that's still not as bad as making mind control turn them into an enemy but that's another story for another day). Sex scenes ofc... TPO.

Since I didn't even manage to get past the second trial, what I wrote may very well not apply to the rest of the game. It wouldn't be the first time a game shifts its tone in the middle, and very likely if my Nakige hypothesis is correct.

Still, the ero content is over the top, too early and goes too far (4th base in the common route is a no-no). Reading it, it felt like the writer made a sci-fi first draft then realized he had a quota of sex scenes to include somewhere in his scenario, because he's writing a 18+ script. So he did, but what he put in the early chapters is awkward and silly (it could be much better once actual routes start).

Note that it's not necessarily wrong to include time for players to rest their brain between serious parts. Steins;Gate has Rintarou's chuuni episodes for instance. Juvenile perverted humor can fit that role as well, and whether one laughs to it or just facepalms is a matter of personal preference. But it has to be used in moderation, or it will completely derail the story, shatter the mood and demotivate players like me to continue, however good the underlying sci-fi elements are.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I started laughing seeing the second link, where it says in Japanese "Starting my journey to become an authentic pervert!!" and in Italian "Stolen the female underwear".

@#6 - there are no "routes" so to speak in this game, in the sense that there are no choices, but there is still clear separation between the different parts.

The game doesn't quite "genre shift" but it does get much more serious and less like a bakage, which was my first impression whilst reading it. The low-brow humor does tone down a lot, but it doesn't completely go away.

I'm like 3 hours in and I love it. I think it's great if you don't focus too heavily on the plot, but rather the memes and jokes

I finished the game, and this should definitely have a genre shift tag.

The intro is completely different from the rest of the game, content wise and mood wise. You start out thinking that you are just reading some silly nukige in a SF setting, but then it transitions into a physics textbook, and then into someone's thesis on quantum physics, and all of a sudden it turns into a graduate level computer science course.

And all throughout there is just ero-content forced in. They weren't bad quality wise per se, but this is the wrong VN if you are reading only for the h-scenes, or only for the comedy for that matter. In fact, this should just be labeled as a mystery VN.

Anyways, I really enjoyed it. Pretty good game overall.Last modified on 2018-02-23 at 12:49

Despite only playing the MMO for a couple hours/days compared to all the other players' 6 months of non-stop login time, the protagonist is immediately the strongest man in the universe.

He's also the smartest man in the universe. And (spoiler) the second smartest man in the universe, the protagonist's only worthy rival, turns out to be the protagonist from another timeline.

The scene in the Apeiria route where he explains the time travel logic to Apeiria made my blood boil. She's a godlike AI that's 500000000x times smarter than you, what position are you in to explain physics/science/math to her?

Also, near the start of the Kuon route where he easily persuades Ninomae to stop his swampman brain research. "Wow, I never thought about it that way. You're right, highschool student. I, the greatest AI researcher of the era, was wrong. Thank you for showing me how of an idiot I was. Can I suck your dick?".

^Correction. I wrote that post before finishing the final half of the Apeiria route. So one part of it is wrong.
