Should we keep Steins;Gate Elite here?

This. Scenario is heavily revised and visual presentation isn't the same, so it's probably a different experience then the original game. I guess there is a point in separating releases.Last modified on 2017-09-23 at 06:17

The scenario appears to be the same from what I've seen, just with an optional, heavily-abbreviated "streamlined" mode. The full, unabridged text will also be there as the default option. I think they said there would be some additional content, but they haven't said how much.

Though yes, the presentation is very different. I'm undecided on if that's enough to qualify it for a separate entry.

Seems to be the same text just abridged to make the animation flow better. It seems you can also choose which script to use. link
The "additional content" is apparently just the animation for the character routes since they can't re-use that from the anime adaptation. link

I don't know about making a separate entry for different presentation since we don't usually make separate entries for new art.

Still not sure what to do with Kamaitachi no Yoru - Rinne Saisei. It's the exact same text as in the original but the silhouette presentation is the trademark of the entire series.

When in doubt, separate. At least if you ask me. I'll never understand why vndb is fine with several releases with different content being under one VN entry. Yes yes, you get a lot more entries for console versions with additional routes, but tags are REALLY not made for this stuff. And the "best version" argument doesn't hold with different platforms either. And a vote for the base version isn't the same as a vote for an enhanced version. And so on and so on.

So, yeah, just separate when in doubt. Especially remakes released many years later. Kamaitachi no Yoru - Rinne Saisei has additional content by a completely different writer and a completely different presentation and possibly some minor changes for the current market or whatever. People ALWAYS separate games like this. Yu-no as well. Should you play the old or the new version? I don't think I've ever heard someone saying "doesn't matter, it's the same". So just lumping them together is highly questionable, unless you just want to keep entries down for some reason.

Going off on the tangent regarding Kamaitachi no Yoru, I'd say the ios port of Banshee's Last Cry by Spike Chunsoft, both English and Japanese, should warrant an alternate page since they lack the silhouette presentation and add in tons of easter egg endings with references to other Spike Chunsoft game series.
(There might be more or less differences but I haven't played the previous versions)

As for the case with Steins;Gate Elite, I feel a little reserved about splitting it before its release, but I'd say considering the road that the simplification of the text is going down, I agree it does warrant its own separate entry.
It's just easier to keep track of VNs when it's not one page with tons of releases.
The game length will probably end up being affected too.Last modified on 2017-09-23 at 13:44

@4 As I said at some point earlier, there's simply too much maintenance involved in keeping different VN entries for every single slightly altered version of a game. And it would likely increase version confusion, not reduce it, as it would become much more difficult to keep track of the different releases. Your points about votes and such are valid, but I'm still not convinced the pros outweigh the cons regarding that structural change.

Knowing that Elite's "additional content" is just animation for the non-anime routes simplifies things a little. Since it will contain the unabridged S;G text and the only real change is a difference in art style/presentation, I believe it should be kept in the S;G entry.

As for Kamaitachi no Yoru - Rinne Saisei, I'm not sure if I already said it should be merged with the original, but I think it should. And I don't think additional easter eggs is a justifiable reason for an alternate version entry either.

Unfortunately, I haven't had much time for doing things around here lately, so I only ever end up saying things should be done without actually doing them. I'm really sorry about this. Later today I'll merge KnY and delete Fate GO. (respond in this other thread if you have objections to the latter).

I agree with Dk382, regarding Steins;Gate Elite. The changes just do not seem significant enough to warrant the split.

Who knows when will be the English release of S;G Elite? Wrote to 5pb. Games mail from their website asking them the date of English release.Last modified on 2018-05-24 at 20:44

Please for the love of god, just stop asking these questions. Just stop asking about release dates at all. This is getting obnoxious.

If any of us knew when the game was coming out, we'd have updated the english release in the database to reflect that.

Ok, sorry, I simply want to know because I would like to play and other people too. Sorry. I didn't mean to harm anyone.

Holy shit this is garbage, but the original S;G was garbage already. In that retrospect, cutting it into a fifth isn't a bad idea. Since this released is obviously aimed for people who can't/don't like to read, perhaps they should just delete all the text and leave us with a slideshow of pictures. That way the animation can "flow better".Last modified on 2018-05-25 at 01:26

5pb. Games answered me in e-mail they don't have exact date for English PC release as well as Japanese versions on PS Vita and Nintendo Switch. Let's wait.

#15, it's not garbage, you simply don't like science fiction and time travelling.

Thank you very much, Alex! Agree with you, I am Sergey by the way, it's my nick here)) I also don't like other genres in games and books, but I don't rate them personally, only objectively even if I don't like them.
