Fantastic atmosphere that the backgrounds do an excellent job at emitting with a spookily eerie OST to boot and Yoshitoshi ABe character designs. A damn shame this is not a full adaptation of the light novel because I would have loved for it to keep going, especially after the way it ended, a pure chef's kiss of dread and the desire to indulge more and discover what happens next. It ends on a cliffhanger to say the least, so you understand my points of frustration a bit. Still a great short read regardless! |

The answer to that question is found by reading this beautifully constructed VN. From the betrayal of talent, the tragedy of loss, to pondering what art truly represents; this was all in all a novel that gives you reminders about life and makes you think about those aspects that are often times forgotten about or go by unnoticed without the need of constant reminders. The time spent resulted in a pleasant experience no less and only further elevates the excitement toward the upcoming conclusion of the happiness trilogy. If I had to draw (no pun intended) a comparison, it would be akin to witnessing a painting on a canvas being made from its perplexing start to gorgeous end result. You don't know what direction or route the path will take when reading the first couple of routes, but once the outlines have been sketched out and the colors splashed on bringing it all to life, that's only when true beauty can be realized and appreciated to its fullest extent. |

Finding beauty in negative spaces is the most simplest way to describe this grotesque yet beautiful work. Not for the faint of heart at all and most definitely a bad fit for those who only view things through one lens. Putting aside the off putting scenes and subject matter aside, it truly is a great work that can result in you seeing things differently than what they initially appear to be. Give it time, don't think too much about what is going on in front of you, focus more on bringing together the puzzle pieces to the bigger picture and you are guaranteed to be in for the most painfully meaningful journey you'll experience thus far. |
