Description

Ohno Akito is a military otaku. Akito dropped out of school a year ago and is now camping on a small island off Okinawa, where he went in the forlorn hope that the American military presence would give him a chance to play with real guns. He's unexpectedly approached by a foreigner girl, Shizuka, who tells him he's in a restricted area. That night, Akito sees a B-2 stealth bomber flying overhead, and realizes something is happening that shouldn't be. The next day, as he's trying to break into Kadena Air Base to get a closer look at the B-2, he runs into Shizuka again...

The story is told from 2 perspectives: Kurou, a super-spy from the prestigious Bettou-Izumi-Scarlett family, and Akito. The former wields knowledge, strength, and great political power, while the latter was just a normal high school guy. But their differing views on the world and how they themselves change is one of the main reasons that the story’s interesting. Scarlett is just a simple little story about 2 people, their different worlds, and the people they love.

<report>Scarlett reads like an 80s action movie – it’s fun-packed and animated by a ‘retro’ vibe. The work excels at making the reader feel in the moment, which is no easy feat. The plot, while easy-to-read, is ultimately forgettable; it takes a backseat to what the work does best – and that is, to draw the reader into its world. Through its gung-ho, at times, grandiose execution, Scarlett is a fun & engaging read – it’s consistent, focused, and rapidly paced; there’s virtually no filler.

Construable as a tale of maturity – a coming of age, Scarlett follows the protagonist, Oono Akito – who, with a model Beretta in one hand, and abandon on the other, travels to a military base in Okinawa to escape... Read more »

<report>captivating, immersive, charming. The music is on point but sadly a bit lacking in variety. Pacing and presentation told through short chapters is a breath of fresh air since it makes the scenes not feel dragged out. The multiple protagonist feature and perspective choice was cool but the choice felt kind of pointless. I went back to do the other side and it basically didn't matter and I wasted like 10 minutes.

The game has a cool, muted, realism feel down to the subtlety of the romance. Not to say that it's necessarily it's realistic. Plot can is kind of outlandish and cheesy weaving in aspects of real life geopolitics, military, economics, chemistry, geographic etc... The creators are... Read more »
