Description

Yousuke returned to his hometown of Oboshiro-mura after 8 years in Tokyo and Osaka. He had received a letter from Father Arakawa, who had raised him up as a child, telling him that the Oboshiro church will be closing and merged with a larger church in a neighbouring town, and inviting him back for one last summer together. He reunited with his childhood friends Yomi, Daiya and Ruka, and also met a little girl named Hina who reminded him of himself when he was a child. This is the beginning of a cheerful and refreshing, yet sometimes painful, summer tale.

<report>In my opinion, its a complete masterpiece and its somewhat tragic how unknown it is compared to SubaHibi or SakuUta. It's one of the most interesting works from KeroMakura, featuring an extremely close examination of various authors' writings along with brilliant commentary. It's a typical galge, but also features some of the great narrative devices used in this studio's titles in a way more insightful than anything of their others. I couldn't recommend it enough for people who are already familiar with KeroMakura or maybe PULLTOP and like more metafictional works.

Sidenote: the Yomi scenes are extremely *useful*. Even as someone who typically doesn't really like KeroMakura titles for that, hers are insanely good.

HimaNatsu is best described as a tale of time — with time, pain ceases, and happiness, finds the opportunity to take the position of a regrettably familiar emptiness. With time, just as happiness has the potential to form — sorrow, and regret, subsequently, have time to fester, to snowball, and to ultimately corrupt. HimaNatsu attempts to delineate the notion of family, and its associated sentiments; then, it tries to amplify that through each and every route. HimaNatsu, despite its ‘magical’ undertones, does a fantastic job in keeping it grounded to human nature. You won’t find much malice in this series. But you won’t find... Read more »
