<report>This game is much better than the first one and very enjoyable.

The episodic mysteries were engaging, made me laugh, and had me hooked to the story.
The Mists are interesting and create weird magical situations each chapter.

The chemistry between the cast is also a lot better this time too, lots of interactions made me laugh. The German duo was a great addition.

Despite the high fantasy setting, the plot and plot twists are explained in a way that is easy to understand and always tie in with things we've learned before. The ending of this game was fantastic.

There is a lack of full routes for other girls, a minor issue for me but can be a large issue for others.

I highly recommend this to anyone. I will go into more detail about the series under the final game with a full review.

<report>Beautiful game. It has a strong start that reminded me of the best parts of the first Ley Line and when you start to think that it slows down, it delivers a surprisingly satisfying conclusion.

And it's an episodic game with an episodic structure. I don't even like those usually! But authors of Ley Line have an impressive imagination and use the setting to create a lot of different mysteries. Especially, I love when they send characters to some kind of a different world because it's entertaining and allow you to take a little break from the school setting (I don't mean it as something bad, it's just a good change of pace).

Game hooks you right from the beginning and I've found myself not... Read more »

<report>tl;dr: A sequel with a much stronger finale, though weaker at the build up to the finale.

Daybreak of Remnants Shadows is the second in the Clockwork Ley-Line trilogy and as a direct continuation of The Borderline of Dusk it should only be read afterwards. There’s a summary provided of the first VN provided in this entry, but it serves best as a recap for those who are already familiar with the first and would not be enough for those completely unfamiliar with the story of the first. It’s actually somewhat bizarre in that this recap claims to be trying to not to spoil the events of the first VN, but it would be impossible to convey the information necessary for going into this VN without... <report>I was not as impressed with the sequel, mainly due to the fact, that they saved all the "exciting" moments for the last chapter. From a "product to be sold" perspective, I can understand it as a good decision. For me as a reader, a long part of the running time is at the exact same quality as its predecessor, then all the "loud noises and confetti" leave a strong impression at the end.

Make no mistake, that last chapter is very good, but they just held back way too much, during the rest of the story. Not sure the gamble payed of personally, it probably did commercially.

My own grievances aside, I won't be referring to the technical side of things, since it's pretty much unchanged, from... Read more »

<report>one of the biggest flaws in any mystery work is that unless the characters are asking the right questions the writers can just drag the story to whatever length it wants to. it didn't helped that it didn't took me too long to ask said important question and tbh its not even that hard to ask those question.

so the school has some kind of a secret. that begged the question in my head: if they have a secret in school, WHY ARE THEY RUNNING A SCHOOL? wouldn't it be much, MUCH better if they close the school and contain whatever secret that is? that's when it hit me: the secret is all about letting the school run. and it has plenty to do with the day vs night students. and for some reason the...
