Description

The story is pretty simple - Hikari ("Light"), the red haired girl that you see in an opening clip, has been kidnapped. And Rance gets the mission from his boss (the bald guy) to investigate the case.

Rance is something like a detective in this story. This also turns the whole game more into a detective-like exploring than into rpg or more less rpg/strategy to which the gamers of the latter games of the series are used to. Rance isn’t alone in his job as he has a helper - 16 year old Sill. She's actually Rance's slave. She was from a rich family but later got kidnapped by some bandit and then auctioned as a slave. The one who bought her was of course Rance.

Now with her help you (Rance) have to solve this mystery, bring Hikari back and pay back to the ones at fault.

<report>The start of a great franchise but a nightmare to play for a modern game player, tried but found it impossible to know what to do, where to go etc without following a guide every step of the way, it's a short game, but if i had to play without a guide i'd never finish it.

Outside of that i really liked it, the art is great if you love retro, same for the music.

The characters are great, especially rance and sill, main character for 30 years, first game and already has the great comedy rance is know for.

Story is simple, but enjoyable.

The only reason i would recommend this is if you like retro game or you want to see where rance started, otherwise wait for the english release of the remake of rance 1 and 2.

<report>Terrible, boring gameplay, it's very hard to beat this without some kind of guide, since the game gives you almost no clues to what to do next. To move around in the map you have to choose to which direction in a menu, which gets tiring really fast. The enemies look like drawings of 5 year olds, it's almost comedy. It's very easy also, with an extremely simple combat system and weak enemies, so the fights can get annoying really fast.

The story is kinda interesting, entertaining enough for a short game with kindergarten-like artstyle, and some characters are so flat that the game is actually aware of that which makes it funnier.
