Description

Restricted to an abandoned mansion on the outskirts of London in fulfillment of a promise to her father, lonely Cardia lives day to day isolated from the world. Her body carries a deadly poison that rots or melts anything her skin touches, prompting the locals to call her a “monster.” Her last conversation with her father two years ago, telling her to stay out of sight and never fall in love, is the furthest back she can remember.
One day, her quiet solitude is interrupted as the Royal Guards break in to capture her. It is then that Cardia meets Arsène Lupin, a chivalrous thief, who helps her escape the soldiers’ clutches. She soon finds herself on a journey with Lupin to locate her father, who holds the answers to her mysterious condition. The two are soon joined by four more interesting and handsome gentlemen…

<report>It's a fun romp if you don't think too hard about it.

But the plot and worldbuilding are weak. The game throws a lot at the wall throughout the various routes, like shonen manga dropping monsters of the week. Yet it doesn't really come together satisfactorily in the end. Things just kind of happen because the story demands it. And it's really chock-full of Otomate cliches.

Given how few games there are of this sort (that is, otoge, proactive protagonist, big fantasy-adventure-mystery-plot), it's one of the better entries in the genre. And the whole conceit underlying the idea of the protagonist is actually clever and well-executed.

But that's about the best I can say. It feels pretty uninspired much of the time, almost "by the numbers", even. I wish it did more with its ideas.

<report>A classic otome game that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Pros: Plot of individual routes were fast paced and engaging, likable LIs and MC, great music and opening, beautiful art that was consistent throughout the cgs
Cons: Some happy endings were bitter sweet, some routes were lacking in romance, long common route that felt boring from time to time

<report>My 8 is mostly an expression of range from 6 to 10.

In the beginning I got so bored it took me 4 months to finish common route.
At the end I couldn’t put it down.

To someone who started w 2020s releases the game def feels dated, but a classic for a reason.
Pacing is not good, starting with common/character route proportion.
Art is phenomenal, but not flawless. It wouldn’t catch my eye as much if i didn't play Olympia & Cupid first.

Voice acting floored me. Hirakawa Daisuke’s performance is the best VA work I’ve heard, like, ever?
Some characters I adored while others were unbearably annoying to me (I'm quite easily annoyed), like Nemo, Finnis and (sadly) Impey.
Really wish villains suffered more.

Also felt weird balance between PG13 romance and descriptions of war, genocide and deaths

<report>The art is gorgeous, the voices are nice, and the characters can be really loveable... but the writing is really hit or miss with a lot of misses. The common route is very long, taking up 8 of the 13 chapters in the game, and it feels really episodic instead of like one continuous building conflict.

Cardia herself is an amazing protagonist who grows a lot over the course of the game. On the flip side, the story has a lot of eye rolling moments. Characters don't always make believable choices and the plot kind of bends to what the story wants it to do, not what follows a logical progression. The thing that bothers me the most is that there's no continuity between the different routes and... Read more »
