Description

Tokyo School Life follows your character as he begins his time as a foreign exchange student at Keyakidai High in Tokyo and learns not only about Japanese culture, but about the three girls that he is assigned to live with during his time there.

The story is mostly set around the school your character attends and the dorm, which happens to be a shrine that he lives at with the girls. That said, you will visit various places both in and out of Tokyo and be introduced to them, through the game.

A focus of the game is teaching the reader about a variety of cultural points. These are often explained to the character and he also comes across some very real difficulties of living in a foreign culture and Japan specifically.

<report>While I only played the Aoi route (best girl), while peeking a little bit on the other two, all the girls were very charming and felt alive. If you are a fan of wholesome Slice of Life anime then this would pretty much be your cup of tea.
OST didn't have a lot of tracks but I liked the piano melodies and the OP song is a banger, too. If only the protagonist wasn't a damn gaijin I would have liked it more. Although the point of the game is teaching you a bit about japanese culture through the eyes of a foreigner teenager so I guess it couldn't be helped. LOL
Overall a nice little game.

Go Go Nippon: Take 2, and no half-assing it this time. That's the feeling I got from this game.

Among the practically nonexistent Japanese-made West-oriented kind of visual novels, this one is unmatched. But even if you know enough about Japan or simply don't care, you may find it interesting as it has enough to offer to stand on its own feet as a proper visual novel.

But first let me talk about one of the key features of Tokyo School Life, that being the Japanese learning component. It is several steps ahead of Go Go Nippon which simply featured a second text box in a really tiny font where you'd ruin your eyes reading kanji. There was no furigana either... Read more »

<report>Summary: Extremely good characters, Ost has some good ones but overall mid, uses 3d models instead of sprites (not in CG's), can display text in multiple languages at once, talks a lot about Japanese culture, has some fan service but don't let it turn you away as there is not much, and as for the routes they are all pretty good except for Karen's.

Characters: The characters are actually pretty full of life. Throughout the vn's shorter run time, they actually express themselves a lot. It feels as if they are humans rather than some plot device.

Ost: Most tracks in this vn are just ok, but there are some really good ones mixed in with them. Overall it's pretty good.

3d Models: So instead... Read more »
