Description

"This is the story of the 'future' that could not be saved."

December, 2010 - Beta Worldline: The protagonist, Okabe Rintarou, at the end of suffering through countless hardships and sorrows, has abandoned all efforts in saving "her." Okabe sinks into the depths of despair, and his friends grow concerned for his well-being.

But what of "she" who could not be saved?
Learn of her through the tale of "Zero," where new characters and encounters converge.

Yes... "she" is still there...

-----

After a journey of worldlines untold, Okabe returns to the act of daily life, attempting to discard his previous life in favor of his studies, albeit he remains crushed by grief and misery for his inability to save "her."

Visiting a college seminar, he comes across Professor Alexis Leskinen and his assistant Hiyajou Maho, who were both on the same team and school as "her." There, he discovers "Amadeus," an incomplete system capable of digitally storing human memories. Okabe is invited to test out the program, as it contains none other than... "her" memories. Little did he know that the system known as "Amadeus" would once again draw him into a world of conspiracies most dark.

-----

It uniquely adapts the Epigraph Trilogy of novels and other content from drama CDs.

<report>Steins;Gate was one of my favourite visual novels, with a tight narrative that by its end wrapped things up with a satisfying ending, tying up many loose ends. Steins;Gate 0 as a narrative fits right within the third act of the original Steins;Gate, from the perspective of Okabe in the Beta timeline. It's easy to imagine that as a side story of sorts, it's destined to not live up to the original, particularly since the ending is a known quantity going in. But the surprising thing about Steins;Gate 0 is that rather than feeling like a side plot to the original, it feels like an integral part of its story. It recontextualises the events in the original, turning a moment that was a deus ex... Read more »

<report>Steins;Gate 0 started very strong and from the beginning I knew it's a high quality visual novel.
I like the way it's written. First few minutes in I was just introduced to very few characters and read few sentences and I felt the way it's written it click with me.
Throughout the playthrough I had chills all over the body several times and it didn't happen to me often in other VNs. There were times when I just sat several hours hardly breath and could not do anything else than just continue. It was that good, however there are some problems which I will get to.

I really enjoyed how they distinguish between spoken words and thoughts. This is what only book or VN can fully utilize.
You can... Read more »
