AAI is something of a guilty pleasure. I don't think it's anything standout, but it offers some simple fun in terms of mystery-solving.

The gameplay shift in this spinoff was an interesting experiment, and I think it pays off rather well. The mainline games usually have a formula of a rather tedious investigation before you can get to the actually exciting part. Investigations ditches this division and has cross-examinations and puzzles interspersed throughout the (heh) investigations.

They certainly don't figure out how to make the pacing perfect - the third case is far longer than it has any real right to be - but its just generally a fun experience most of the time.
