Description

Soon after graduating to grade two of high school, Shinji Fukigami saw a spirit. He had seen her before, but didn't know her name, and of course hadn't talked with her before. She was a student in his class.

Why had she died? What happened?

Even if she couldn't speak in words, she could show him what happened. The thing that laid its hands on her was a monster in the skin of a human, a "bodach."

From the beginning of that incident, the town that Shinji lived in, "Sakura no Mori," was the stage of repeated incidents. The only ones who could stop this tragedy were themselves. Shinji and his friends got entangled with the supernatural.

The stage of the battle was in dreams. In that deep place, the monsters lurked there inside humans.

To protect their town. To protect the people they love. Sakura no Mori Dreamers went forth to battle the unknown.

<report>I had some decently high expectations for this title, with the thinking that this sort of more ambitious, plot-driven, dark fantasy story was what the creative staff at Moonstone really "wanted" to make without being beholden to continuously churn out moege. However, Sakura no Mori Dreamers ends up being mostly just okay; it's a decent enough read and has some nice ideas here and there, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't let down if this is truly the best they can do.

I really do appreciate what the work is trying to go for though - this is a pretty "honest" dark fantasy/thriller narrative with its plot twists and horror elements that doesn't really try to pull a fast one on you, and... Read more »

<report>What a tonally bizarre game, like don't get me wrong, it's an absolutely gripping and chilling story with a whole lot going for it, but at the same time something feels so very off for large parts of the game. For starters, the game feels like two different games at the same time, and what I mean by that is that you go from gripping scenes of horror and mystery, to typical moege fluff. It creates such a jarring atmosphere I don't know how to describe, but by the end of it it kind of became part of the charm? Sakura no Mori Dreamers is what happens when you try to throw typical moege fluff into a game about trauma and trying to move on, set in a world filled with very depressing scenarios... Read more »

<report>This is pretty fine for a supernatural investigation VN. The core plot is intriguing, the visuals are excellent and the episodic nature is serviceable. At the other hand, the romance feels a bit unnatural (it feels like a few of the girls fall for protagonist overnight), the villains are a little too goofy and the girls feel mostly useless considering they're supposed to be veterans in comparison to protagonist. I also specially felt like character interactions are a little flat in comparison to Nanairo Reincarnation, which is another supernatural investigation VN that galgame players have likely gone through beforehand. Overall, this is a fairly fun supernatural VN with really good visuals... Read more »

<report>Well, plot and setting reminded me of Hapymaher and this is what drew me in.

And yes it was worth it. I was entertained while reading it but it has its problems. Not as good as Hapymaher overall but here are the good things:
Great atmosphere, fantastic soundtrack (best thing in the VN), slow and great story buildup to the eventual climax. Focus on protagonist who is really assertive and proactive with alot of progression. Gory and suspense atmosphere from actual horror movies (Like Nightmare on Elm Street, the Grudge, Final Destination etc.) were delivered great and really disturbing sometimes. The devs didn't chicken out here and this is what I liked about it, bold writing. World... Read more »
