Description

The village of Hoori lies deep in the middle of the mountains, inaccessible by rail. Since there isn’t much interaction with its surroundings, the town seems like it is stuck in the past. However, it is because of this exact olden feel and subsequent development that it has turned into a nice hot-springs town for tourists.

One of the popular sightseeing spots is the legendary katana Murasamemaru, embedded in stone. No one has been able to pull it out… until Masaomi somehow broke it in half. He has to take responsibility for his actions: “Marriage” with ‘shrine maiden princess’ Yoshino!? He was perplexed at the unexpected turn of events, but this is only just the beginning. What lies ahead for him is a much more peculiar and mysterious life, including his new fiancée, a mysterious girl who only he could touch, and the secret behind the curse that remains on the town.

What will become of Masaomi’s love amidst his rapidly changing life? The answer lies within the Murasamemaru in his hands.

<report>This is currently my favorite Yuzusoft title. The setting in this vn is fantastic and very welcoming. The story is interesting, its filled with humor, the characters are good, the music is wonderful, and overall provided me with perhaps my best experience in VN's as of this review.

<report>Good soundtrack cuz I love how the Japanese instrument involved in composing its music. Character and UI design is indeed awesome and marks the biggest improvement of YuzuSoft. I suggest following Yoshino's route for best romantic experience and Murasame's route for best plot.
(Thanks r/visualnovels for recommending this)

<report>Fluffy visual novel. Likeable characters with some comical value for fun moments.
I think the game shines best in certain heroine routes. Sometimes I'd be wishing that it was much longer.
As one of the first few visual novels that I played when I initially started, it was a great experience.

<report>Routes finished: Mako

TL:DR; Comfort food. 7/10

+ Exceptional visuals and soundtrack
+ Strong cast with good supporting characters
+ Mako's route is predictable but full of wholesome feelings
+ Decent MC
+ Flowchart

- Central mystery in the common route isn't the most exciting
- Iffy pacing

<report>I found the common route to be somewhat lacking as there really wasn't any consequences of any kind, I'm just not a fan of them I guess, the conflict presented in Sabbat of the Witch was a lot better. Not as good as Sabbat of the Witch, got bored of the Yoshino Route after playing the common route. Will probably pick it up again in a couple years.

<report>- Niche flowchart system, friendly for people who want to try out multiple routes or re-read favorite scenes (Greatly improved my reading experience)
- Audio saving feature
- Press escape to hide the game
- Refreshing music, traditional string theme that I have never heard before
- Well-knit plot
- References to memes like ciallo

I gave it 9/10 because the story isn't unforgettable (based)

<report>Senren Banka is slightly above the mediocre. If you love moege, it is recommended to play the game, else, it is not recommended.

Its personal routes of heroines are sweet and romantic. Its daily scenes are detailed, and the love affairs are gradual, progressive. But its common route not so good as the personal routes. In the common route, the four major heroines’ characters do not develop to an enough extent; this makes players' interest plummeted. Also, the arrangement of events in the common route is confusing. For example, Lena’s route has the best plot among all routes, however, she gets the least on-screen time.

<report>So, this game is an amazing visual novel, it has everything needed for an incredible story, but I won't go too deep in it for no spoilers. The music is top tier, characters, also top tier, the only thing I didn't like was them always implying sex but that's because I'm a literal monk, surely anyone else would like it, I dunno. Some parts of the game are sad and depressing but that's about it, it's nothing highly depressing or anything. I highly recommend this story for anyone who likes classical japanese story backgrounds. It also has different routes but I would've liked some to be longer.

<report>Okay. It's a Yuzusoft Game so you know you get some good feels and some Drama from it, and further you know it's well done, nothing is really out of sorts or bad. Not extremely sweet but just the right amount.

What surprised me in this game is that all the routes are really solid and have really good laughs in them, sure the split route between two characters isn't amazing but it actually works quite well.
Another thing that surprised me that I'd say is that what I'd consider the main Route is not who I expected it to be. And the Route I expected to be the "canon" route still ends up really nice. Everything falls quite nicely into place with exception of the Bonus route. So I give a happy 8.5/10. Coming from Cafe Stella it's really good, but I think this is a little bit better.

<report>First of all, this is my third Yuzusoft game after Dracu-Riot and Riddle Joker, second, I didn't play all routes (explanation further)

I like everything, pleasant UI with flowchart, voice line bank (important for all your cute anime girl sounds collection), more story oriented flow (comparing to Riddle Joker), VERY cool music and sound, pretty art, different emotions, solid humor, great moege!

I didn't play Koharu and Roka routes because I didn't expect them to be main characters? My first route was Lena and after opening after stories menu I was like "what, 6???", and after starting their route I felt discouraged to play it, so there's that. Doesn't make the game worse though!
10/10, some routes are weaker than others, but not 5 points weaker (looking at you Riddle Joker).

<report>One of the best (or the most popular besides Sanoba Witch) Yuzusoft works ever.
Each route is OK, though sometimes I think that they add too many ecchi scenes and are affecting plots. (especially Yoshino route even though she's my favourite character). I wish I could live in a place like Hoori as well...
Might be a little bit long, but I recommend everyone to finish all routes. My favourite character is Yoshino and she got her figure today. Very good but expensive (almost 30k yen).
Anyway I hope everyone enjoy Yuzusoft. Cute characters are the best.
(I deleted controversial bit about last hope of the whole VN industry, but the fact is not many ppl these days have time to complete VN with that long hours, and only moe ones are dominating the market and selling good (especially Yuzusoft)).

<report>Senren Banka has a strong story in the common route, but some of the character routes don't live up to the same standard. Despite this, the characters themselves made up for it; the interactions and humor let them pull this off. The production values are high in the visual and audio areas. I enjoyed my time reading it and I believe many visual novel fans will.

<report>I feel like all it really takes is pretty solid fundamentals to make a decent to good moege; so long as a game has some attractive illustrations, a competent scenario, and some pleasant music, it's hard to ever accuse it of being outright bad. But... making a truly great moege is an entirely different and remarkably tricky thing - it's so much more than a matter of merely assembling all the right pieces together, I feel like there's a peculiar je ne sais quoi about the greats of this genre that is hard to distill down to a mere list of discrete elements. Somewhat unfortunately, I really don't feel like Senren Banka has really got it, even though it has basically all of the elements of a... Read more »

<report>Senren * Banka Review

WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILER! OPEN THIS BY YOUR RISK!

Hello, KEVINNGW808 here.
Today's review is about Senren Banka: A Thousand Colors of Love.
This Visual Novel also translated by NekoNyan, and my 2nd NN translated VN I play.
Also my 2nd time play Yuzusoft VN after Parquet. And my first R18 Yuzusoft VN.
In VNDB, this VN rated good with average 7,8 (may change later, also why, this VN is good tho...).
Let's see this VN; Here's my review:

- General:
Senren Banka is a Moege Visual Novel made by Yuzusoft, everyone's favourite VN developer. Senren Banka is their 10th project.
Senren Banka released on 2016, then got translated by NekoNyan and released alongside CN TL by... Read more »

<report>My first proper long VN with more than just one or two routes, and I enjoyed it. Senren*Banka is part mystery story about a curse that plagues a remote traditional Japanese town and the history/myths that surround it, part slice of life romance with one of 6 cute girls. I feel that other than Koharu's route, the routes were fairly consistent in quality, but what truly stands out for me about S*B is the production quality. The configuration options, UI, artwork, flowchart. Incredibly user friendly.

+Top notch user experience.
+Every VN needs a flowchart.
+High quality artwork in 1080p.
+Cast of characters is pretty great and doesn't just feel like a collection of tropes (with one or two... Read more »

<report>Fairly better than Riddle Joker, but not as good as Sanoba Witch in my opinion. The action/fantasy element was better integrated than RJ, but SW used theirs better.

Edit: Almost forgot: link for Linux users. For some reason it's the roughest to set up of all the Yuzusoft titles on Steam and Steam Overlay doesn't work half the time for me. YMMV ofc based on your system.

Like the RJ and SW, it has a "What we want," theme to the story and a sub-theme for a specific subject. If RJ was focused on the subject of "Secrets," and SW was focused on "Communication," then SB is "Family and that is what routes revolve on.

Route order wise, I recommend going Mako > Yoshino > Murasame > Lena. Weirdly... Read more »

<report>I finished Senren*Banka, and want to share my thoughts. It's my first Yuzusoft VN.
My play order was Yoshino > Mako > Roka+Koharu > Murasame > Lena.

>Common. Very solid, the characters are likeable, their interactions are fun, the setting and lore are interesting, the mystery is decent, and the curse/medium story is decent enough. Masaomi's a bit of a wimp, but it's not a deal-breaker.

>Yoshino. She seems to be a devisive character and route. Personally, I enjoyed both. While not anything groundbreaking, Yoshino and Yasuharu's emotions tied to their family being cursed for centuries resonated with me, Yoshino's victory over the curse was earned, and the scene with her mother were REALLY... <report>Hmmm... It's definitley not bad, in fact if I'd say it's good, but not great. While it had a decent setting and decently likable characters, I don't think it really did much to stick out, especially compared to the other 2 Yuzusoft titles I read before (Dracu Riot and Sanoba/Sabbat).

I can see why people thought the common route could be seen as peak. It almost feels like that could have been it's own short VN on its own. I wouldn't say it's that much better than the routes, but at the very least it's better than the weaker ones due to interesting enough plot and a little character development.

I think it's interesting that people think this VN's route/character quality is balanced... cuz... Read more »

<report>I might drop this game for good.

maybe I got spoiled by some games that give much better content to length ratio when it comes to games. not just VNs, but even jrpg and such. the entirety of common route is just generic fighting scenes, generic heroine choice scenes or affection scenes, etc and when common route ended I just want to leave that rural place. the things you could do in such a place is so limited the entire thing very much loses its luster quickly.

aside from that, there are a few bones that I could pick with common route's plot devices. this "curse" has been happening for so many generations and somehow MC gets to solve it all? even using transfer heroine as a requirement to... Read more »
