Description

When I came to, I found myself in an unfamiliar room.

I was taking advantage of my summer break to go on a ten day vacation with my best friend. We were enjoying the sights of Okinawa on the bus from the airport when—

And that's the last thing I remember.

Is this the hotel? Did I fall asleep on the bus...?

The door wouldn't open and what we thought were windows were actually just screens displaying images of the outside. When we searched the room for some clue as to where we were, we found yet another screen displaying a single, mercilessly cold sentence:

"You have been selected to participate in a behavioral analysis experiment."

We have to choose and complete a task presented on the screen as instructed if we ever want to see the light of day again.

If we play our cards right, we can get out in ten days—ten choices.

Our options are extremely limited—

Either my best friend has to physically harm me,
or I have to debase my best friend sexually.

At the mercy of these inhumanly cruel choices, the two of us decide to—

<report>Repetitive pattern, specially for a short visual novel. Most of the endings are pretty frustrating and some of the choices don't quite line up or make much sense, really. However, it's a pretty curious game for some: goes into the depersonalization territory and suggests, not showcasing all of it, some of the appalling changes the characters unavoidably go through, using a lot of accurate neuropsychological reactions and background information. Should you pay attention, both characters' archetypes are complex in their own way and their construction and imminent, progressive degradation is very interesting to keep up with, especially for whoever's interested in not only BL but psychology in visual novels such as myself. I enjoyed it despite every flaw.

<report>A totally gripping, guilty pleasure-type nukige BLG with strong psychological horror elements. Do not come for romance - come to be awed and appalled. Finishing all endings will leave you devastated and thinking about the game for days.

<report>I love Seiji so much. The writing is very well done for a game that is relatively on the shorter side. The psychological, as well as physical horror is effective and the characters are well written. I enjoy developing emotional connections to characters in Visual Novels and Room No.9 was able to achieve that on a great scale.

<report>This is one of those novels where I don't think it should be considered BL in any shape or form; I feel like if its categorized in that way, it would heavily discredit the psychological aspects of this work, which are absolutely fantastic.
While I wasn't a fan of every h-scene, I loved how the decisions impact the way these characters thought about and interacted with one another. A lot of the endings are less than stellar in the grand scheme of things, but I think the true ending of this one is fantastic. It's an uncomfortable visual novel in all the rights ways.

If you're going to play this one, don't go in expecting the core to be heavy romance; you'll be sorely disappointed going in with that mindset.

<report>It's a solid game for what it's trying to be: a short story about a pair dealing with unbelievable amounts of pressure. It wasn't particularly to my taste due to the lack of romance, but I was aware of that coming in, and taking that into account, it was a decent read.
This isn't an attempt at an 'objective' review, but rather just my personal thoughts.

Pros:
Stunning art!

A scenario that really tries to explore every possible direction the character's insanity can go in; I really enjoyed the diversity in endings, and how thorough they all were.

There is no romance, but the characters have a real bond that does evolve in different ways depending on the ending. They are both well written... Read more »
