Description

One day close to the beginning of summer vacation, Shuuichi was watching a ‘cursed Blu-ray’ given to him by his buddy when a spirit came out from the disc and possessed him. His childhood friend Murasaki belonged to a family that managed an ancient temple, so she tried an exorcism to rid him of the spirit. While the ritual was successful and quelled the vindictive spirit, the spirit girl’s form remained due to her inexperience. Her name was Chiyako, the name of the girl who was killed on screen, and she revealed that the spirits of six other girls dwelled within her.

According to Murasaki, spirits can only remain in this world for 49 days, which meant that there would only be seven days allotted for each of the seven girls. Shuuichi was tasked with helping them achieve happiness so they can leave this world with no regrets. However, it is a very short time to accomplish this task. Also he did not realize at this time that it meant that he would be getting to know each girl well only to bid a painful farewell seven times over.

<report>Undeservedly unknown VN
It seems that the more I read VNs, the more thick-skinned I become. Less and less often VNs cause me to cry. Even the generally recognized tear jerkers, such as Clannad and Muv Luv Alternative, practically did not bring me to this. Seven Days also applies to this. VN is sad, especially the endings of each chapter. A lot of people admit that this VN broke them emotionally. But for some reason not me. I was just a little sad and nothing more.
All of the above was just a digression and does not negate the fact that I think VN is excellent. An interesting, intriguing, addictive beginning. Then the pace slows down, but still I was not bored and wanted to read on.
I highly recommend it!

<report>I am not really the target audience for a teenage slice-of-life/drama story, but these girls were already dead anyway so I figured I'd give it a try.

Each girl gets a chapter where they spend 7 days with Mr. useless "good guy" protag. Even if the writing wasn't so bland and the girls weren't such literal caricatures, the chapters are too short for any sort of emotional bond to form. At least the drama isn't too heavy and flows pretty naturally from the setting. These chapters are mediocre, but not terrible.

The final chapter, on the other hand, is where the author haphazardly throws together a bunch of science fantasy concepts in order to puke out an overly convenient happy ending. I realize worldbuilding isn't the point of this VN, but doing such a shoddy job is insulting.

<report>The game goes about death and the inevitability of it, there's 7 girls so you go through their struggles with their situation (they are ghosts and will die) seven times :'c

It has good pacing with a really nice surprise on one route (look forward to it).

The ending makes no sense and I actually hate it, so my review is a 9 instead of a 10.

<report>Ah. What a ride that was. After 3 months, my journey with Seven Days has finally come to an end.

Positives
There have been many VNs that almost made me cry. I don’t think I ever cried while reading a VN. Then, this VN showed up and the waterworks started. There were over a dozen times where I cried while reading through this VN. Despite spending only 7 days with each girl, I ended up getting attached to them more than I thought I would.

I really enjoyed the story. But wait. Wasn’t it repetitive having to spend a week with each ghost girl? While it was repetitive at times, I didn’t really notice it since the girls’ personalities were varied and it made things feel different. Not to... Read more »

<report>Interesting take on the classic "woman on the screen crawls out of a well and says you have 7 days to live" horror. The writing is weak, however. The heroines are charming, but what I have a problem with is that the protag doesn't really do anything other than torment himself with the thoughts of "They're such nice girls, why do they have to go...?" Anything that requires brains or skills is done by Murasaki, and the male friend is the deus ex machina character who arranges normally impossible things through "connections". He can fight, too, while our guy ofc cannot. Meanwhile protag is just there, and the ghosts fawn over him and thank him all the time when Murasaki deserves it way more... Read more »
