<report>In terms of production, it is well above the standard of Western visual novels. The art is beautiful and detailed, especially in the BGs. Live2D is also very well implemented).

The biggest flaw is the story. Not that it is bad, it is just totally generic and cliché. I felt like I was reading an adaptation of some JRPG. It looked that the intention, in any case, was to be a modest homage to this very genre. But the devs could do better. At least the many pop references were fun.

<report>Easily the best of PixelFade's work. They decide to finally ditch the illusion of choice, and go for a single heroine choice.

The sacrifice is well worth it, as Crystalline has the ONLY PixelFade plot that actually goes somewhere, with a complete adventure complete with villains, victories and defeats.

That being said, the plot is still generic as can be, being a generic fantasy setting and a generic isekai scenario. It's kind of a shame, because the production and execution is good.

<report>While I didn't have much love for Pixelfade studios for their previous games, Crystalline was the one that changed it for me. While the game only features an heroine, the way it handles the relationship from start to finish was much better done than the studio's previous games, and showed a lot more quality over quantity, which I found fantastic.

Sure, the visual novel is thus mostly kinetic, and an isekai cliché to boot, but the english VAs and the cast is clearly having fun with the project, and that fun translates throughout the entire experience. Here's hoping the studio keeps moving in this direction in the future.

<report>I enjoyed this quite a bit more than I expected. The art is very nice and AmaLee really brings the female lead to life. The cast overall did a pretty good job. It took me a little to warm up to the brooding trenchcoat character but I didn’t really have that issue with anyone else. I didn’t care about the mascot character but I never appreciate this type of character so I don’t let it bother me.

I’ve seen the opinion expressed that the story is generic and I think I agree with that. That being said, a story is good because of its execution and how it uses its tropes. There are no multiple love interest routes which is actually a plus. We get to focus on Leanna and our other companions... Read more »
