Description

After breaking up with his girlfriend, grad student Haruaki Fusaishi goes on a motorcycle trip to forget her, only to end up stranded in the remote settlement of Yasumizu. The next day, as he is repairing his bike, a mysterious mist drifts in, and all the villagers shelter inside their homes. Confused, Haruaki sees a mysterious figure with the body of a human and the head of a wolf that kills him.

Haruaki finds that instead of dying, however, he has instead looped back in time. After managing to hide from the creature this time, he discovers the village must engage in a ritual known as a "feast." Several of them have been replaced with spirits of ancient "wolves" that will kill one villager each night, and it is up to the villagers to discover who amongst them are the wolves, and execute them. Caught in an all-out war of doubt and trust, can Haruaki survive and discover the mysteries behind the feast and his looping...?

<report>This a very unique visual novel. I will do my best to give my thoughts on it without spoiling it. This is the only visual novel I've played with mafia type game play. Think town of Salem but with Werewolves. It has three arcs each with their own unique flavor that make it different from the last arc. I was surprised with how much I enjoyed this vn so without further or do into the review.

Characters 10/10
Every character, including the main and side characters, is superbly interesting. The main character especially is quite wicked in a fun way. He's definitely not a good guy and every arc you get more of a feel for it. All the side characters, including the ones you think are boring or... Read more »

<report>I've played many of Raging Loop's contemporaries, real landmarks of visual novel storytelling. The setting is immediately reminiscent of Ryukishi07's Higurashi, while the structure of the game is evocative of Kotaro Uchikoshi's Zero Escape series. It's like there's some timeless appeal to visual novels like these. Being stuck in a remote location with seemingly supernatural phenomena going on, an intriguing killing game that requires the reader to figure out who to trust and who to suspect, a mysterious time loop the protagonist is aware of and is looking to escape, and a flowchart of choices that is gradually unlocked as the protagonist gains new information. Raging Loop has all of these... Read more »

<report>Shit fuck! This game is awesome! It's a very familiar, yet distinct experience that's very memorable.

The game revolves around this chad named Fusaishi Haruaki (lol that's actually not his name) going on a bike trip in order to try to cope with the breakup with his furry gf. He then finds himself in this small town with fog everywhere and everyone in the town participates in this weird religion and shit--it all gives off a massive Silent Hill vibe. In fact I personally see a slight resemblance between Fusaishi and Harry Mason though I could be delusional here.

But it soon develops that the town does this Danganronpa/Town of Salem shit whenever the town gets really foggy because some... Read more »

<report>This is a detailed and spoiler-free review (please don't hover the spoiler fields if you haven't finished the game). I split it into "the good" and "the bad" so you can decide for yourself if it's your kind of VN or not. This review comes from the viewpoint of an avid fan of murder mystery and horror visual novels, so I'll reference the basic structure followed by other games to attempt to elaborate on my arguments.

I tried to write the kind of review I look for when I want to decide if I want to play a game or not, so hopefully this will help you make up your mind.

Please read both the good and the bad before playing, since the bad could completely ruin the experience depending on what... Read more »

<report>Insane murder mystery game that feels like it was written by the people from KID (makers of legendary mystery visual novels Ever17, Remember11, and went on to make Root Double, etc). It weaves an incredibly complex mystery and then places a death game in the center of it.

It's smart, it's tense, it's rich with lore, and it has a crazy amount of content. Just when you thought you've seen everything, the game is like hold on bro, we haven't seen anything yet. Even after the credits play the game has loads more to offer. It makes your brain hurt thinking how someone managed to create this thing. It's amazing.

And on top of a great story is a spectacular translation by Lemnisca, and... Read more »

<report>There are no spoilers in this review.

The start didn't really leave a very good first impression, but the more i played it got better and better, around the middle i was really invested and it was getting pretty interesting, the feast dialogues, arguments and thought processes, the decisions you had to make, the mystery, the things that were happening, it was good... some time after, it wasn't going as strong, and not so long after that, towards the end, it was becoming bs... it really deteriorates going towards the ending and it's a real shame for the latter build up of the game.

Most of the characters were alright, there wasn't a single annoying character in my opinion, but towards the... Read more »

<report>Raging loop is highly underrated for how good it is.

I started reading it as a second read for the Higurashi and Danganronpa series I was reading. For me, it took around 5-10hrs to finally get me hooked, but once I started to enjoy it, oh boy did I enjoy it. After a while, I couldn't stop reading it and made it my priority.

I will start talking about the plot. It all started a little confusing until you realized what was happening. The first chapters didn't really do the whole story and narrative justice but it was a great introduction to some of the characters, mostly the protagonist though. You get familiarized with the whole concept of the feast and what each guardian does and seeing... Read more »

<report>Raging Loop is a great time. Its strongest part is the Mafia/Werewolf premise: having multiple routes with the same cast but varied roles is a unique take on the "whodunnit" genre, as I'm sure many of us wondered how [insert story here] would've panned out if the killers, victims, motives changed. 🔒01 Including being a killer yourself, pretty fun!

At the center of it all is our main man, Fusayuki. He's an active participant who gets shit done, and it was really fun being in his head. 🔒02 He's a pretty twisted guy, but this isn't used for a plot twist or a redemption arc. No, that's just how he is, which is realistic and allows for great moments. The other characters aren't as special, but... Read more »

<report>tl;dr: A very well written visual novel involving time looping, the werewolf game, mythology, politics, and a great cast of characters, though one somewhat lacking in budget.

Raging Loop is a visual novel by Kemco, a pretty small company that makes pretty low budget JRPGs and visual novels. It’s actually the second game in a series, as another game called Death Match Love Comedy that exists in the same universe was released before it. However, that game was never translated into English, so I have no familiarity with it. All in all, this isn’t a game that I think many had that high expectations of. However, it turned out be quite impressive in that it used it’s core elements of the... Read more »

<report>A surprisingly engaging visual novel, centred around the social deduction game “One Night Werewolf” and similar fare.

It’s low on interactivity, with most choices being choosing between the right one and the wrong one, with wrong ones branching for ten minutes at most before you’re killed off. It’s primarily driven through hitting endings to unlock new paths. Still, engagement comes through trying to be smarter than the characters when it comes to figuring who is a wolf. The author feels like they have a robust grasp of game theory, so every time there was a gathering there was fun to be had in watching it play out.

Sadly, the last few hours descend into nonsense. The game’s answers are... Read more »

<report>I had low expectations going in due to learning about the botched ending, but man this game absolutely blew me away in terms of utter enjoyment.
(tldr at end if u want to skip my rambling)

-The werewolf game and story-

The story revolves around a classic social game that most will be familiar with, werewolf/mafia with it's own cultlike and folklore twists specific to this vn. With plenty of lore, drama, twists, and mind games that kept my attention throughout most of the game. The protagonist finds himself effectively trapped in this game, and the story revolves around him trying to figure out a solution to the entire mystery in order to free himself from the 'raging loop'.

This life and... Read more »

<report>This is for the PC version. I put it between 8 and 9, because I personally enjoyed it a lot but it's objectively quite rude in some of the mysteries (although the main one does work imo), and I honestly don't feel it will stick with me in quite the same way as even Muv-Luv Alternate did with its excellent portrayal of Japanese Nationalism (although at least here the ending is good). Locking the main character's inner monologue behind NG+ is also quite rude (Kemco, you are not Agatha Christie), although I understand locking side character's behind it. Additionally, understanding some finer points about how the mystery works is locked behind extra content, which stinks because the last 1/3 of... Read more »
