Description

Umineko no Naku Koro ni takes place in the year 1986 during the time frame of October 4 and October 5 on a secluded island named Rokkenjima (六軒島). The head of a wealthy family named Ushiromiya Kinzou, who lives on and owns Rokkenjima, is near death, and eleven of his family members arrive on the island to discuss how Kinzou's assets will be divided once he is dead. Also on the island are five of Kinzou's servants, and his personal physician. After the eleven family members arrive, a typhoon traps them on the island and shortly after people start to get mysteriously murdered.

<report>Just when one thinks you've got a handle on what's going on in the questions arc, Chiru will turn things on its head and head in a direction one might see as unexpected but a really well done and understandable direction. You will begin to learn some more hints and answers but will not completely hold your hand all the way so one needs to still think. Lots of really enjoyable and memorable characters to like and some of the most epic moments ive ever seen. Make sure to have voices since it's got one of the best voice acting ive heard and cool CGs too

One of the best VNs id say and I recommend one to check out the manga version to see the author make things more clear if your still confused.

<report>An abundance of moronic contrivances, wishy-washy pathos, and an overly bloated script makes this one of the most painful reads, which is quite a shame as the cast is enjoyable, the voice acting superb, and the music par excellence.

<report>Yes.. the second part of Umineko which started as a mystery story, turned with this game into a more philosophical and tragic story. I like this game. It was one of the most fascinating stories i've ever read. But sometimes i wonder if this game would have been better if it had remained just a mystery story. Especially at the end of chapter 7, i was disappointed when I faced the harsh truths and learned that this story could never have a happy ending. No matter what anyone says, I'm someone who prefers happy endings.
However, if viewed objectively, this game has one of the deepest stories you will ever see in your life, it will change your perspective on life and after you finish it, you will research for hours what some of the things in the game represent.

<report>The epidemy of a masterfully written story that touched my very soul and resonated with me on such a deep level. This piece covered the most unique themes in the most unique way possible. I will never ever experience such a masterpiece again.
From the dialogue, characters CG's and music everything was masterful. Even if the journey took me over 150 hours it was well worth it. The last episode, Twilight of the Golden Witch was a perfect conclusion with every piece coming together.
Umineko is one of the series that peaks and dominates any genre it covers, be it mystery, phantasy or romance. This is truly one of the peaks of peaks I have read.

<report>Everything I've said for Questions Arc can be said here. Amazing plot, a lot of great characters with many different personalities, great art style (both original and console ones), awesome OST with 100+ compositions.
Many of the puzzles are explained here, and explained in a really interesting way.
Also, you would have a chance to solve one of the puzzles BY YOURSELF, which is REALLY cool!
Definitely recommended!

<report>The poor structure of too many plot lines happening at once, making things seem like a mess. The author's longwinded writing paid off in the first half, but not this half.

Complaints aside, the second half still retained its main strengths of a strong engaging story that kept me glued to it. This was still among the best I have ever read.

The strongest part of Umineko in my opinion, was when the full attention was on the 2 day period of incidents, on both the main setting as well as the characters competing with mystery vs magic. 1-4 did this splendidly.

<report>I'd bet myself after playing the question arc of umineko since the VN is split in to 2 parts. I Betted that this ging to perhaps to be one of the most bonker answer arc I seen. With out a doubt, my expectaitons for it not only is satisfied but blown away and that my bet was absolutely correct. The answer arc is quite nuts. Nuts in a good way. The tying up loose ends is quite beautiful. I heavily recommend this VN series to people who like mystery and like to think since the mystery is pretty good. Since this is in the same series as Higurashi no naku koro ni, The mystery here blows Higurashi out of the park. Though imo, I prefer the world and the dynamics of higurashi than of umineko. That doesn't mean that this VN isn't great despite that, it's just preference.

<report>Umineko Chiru's second half is the big revelation behind the mystery, and while left deliberately ambiguous and open-ended, only served to further its own powerful themes of love, truth, and happiness.

Depending on your interest in its mystery or fantasy elements, sections do drag out in explanations and repetitive details.

However, Umineko Chiru delivers numerous blowout battles between mystery and fantasy, tells a tragic tale of romance, and even explores its own genre through its meta interactive elements.

<report>A cleverly written mystery full of food for thought, a cast of colorful characters with diverse and fleshed out personality, and a beautiful, touching, and tearjerking message. Umineko is an absolute masterpiece.

<report>This arc managed to become even better than the first one. The poignant development with Beatrice and Battler and with many other characters finally felt like it was progressing after all these games. Initially, I was afraid of a disappointing ending, but in the end, I found myself shedding tears like streams of sweetfish rivers. Umineko was my first but certainly not my last dive into the When They Cry series.

It was a long journey that led to a majestic ending, thank you Ryūkishi07.

<report>"Answers arc is a pretty big name for the game that doesn't give any answers"

Yeah.

That's about it.

It's not a mystery game anymore, it's just an anime/cliche/magic fighting novel with lack of common sense.

In fact, even "The witch is the culprit, and magic is real" is a better answer than this game gives.

<report>Erika is the worst character in the game. Everything in her behaviour makes me wanna puke. I can't keep playing this while she is being a moral criminal. It would be 10000000000000000000 times better if there were no character like her at all... Worst experience ever, I don't recommend.

<report>...The game is fine. It is not in a masterpiece imo. Why? The worst 8 episode ever. It was too boring to play. I was expecting different kind of scenario but in the end it was meh. I like the game anyway, maybe this is the longest visual novel that I've ever played yet. But it took me only 50-40 hours for all 8 episodes. So it is fine. If you wanna see the finale, then... I don't have good news for ya. But you can do whatever you want, if you wanna see the truth of the story, then u shouldn't read it. 7/10
