Description

For my whole life, I never had a girlfriend.
People could laugh at me all they want, but I refused to give up on my ideals when it came to love.
I had always pictured a first encounter where I knew right away she was my destined one.
After several chance run-ins, we would exchange numbers. Then we would hang out together on the weekends.
Only once we've grown close enough would it be time for a real date.
I wouldn't have accepted any love that didn't develop like a storybook romance.
Picking up girls at a club or going on blind dates was out of the question for me.
And so was arranged dates. How could it be romantic when someone else set you up?
I had stood unwavering in my beliefs for my entire life.
Until, that is, when the words of a certain girl turned my view on love inside-out.

<report>I 100% recommend this for those who enjoy romance/comedy stories.

1. working-adult romance
2. amazing blend of romance and comedy
3. you enter the heroines' routes very early
3. you can choose what type of date to go on
4. there is some replay value b/c the next time around you can choose a different date plan
5. main and supporting characters are hilarious

For me who is a fan of this genre, I'm giving it a 10/10.
I can't choose a best girl because they all had aspects which I liked.

<report>Such a very fun read. I'm quite new to moege but I was 100% engrossed when reading it including the h-scenes (the pillow talks were so cute) in which I usually skip. All the girls were good but my problem with Ako's route is that it could have been more fleshed out because playing her route felt like a nukige. The ichaicha moments were severely lacking compared to the other girls' routes. Other than that, M*L is pretty great. The setting is refreshing since it doesn't happen in school but rather further to early adulthood (which is quite rare). The option to change the name was good so I could really self-insert to the fullest. Reading this made me want to play more moege in the future.

Route Quality: Karen > Mashiro > Reina = Saki > Ako
Girl Quality: Saki > Mashiro > Ako > Reina > Karen

<report>In theory, it is a moege featuring adult heroines rather than the typical high school girls we typically see in games like this. The problem is that while the heroines are physically older, they don't actually seem all that mature. Also, while you do meet and seduce the heroines, much of the story takes place during a relationship rather than it being the beginning, which is a unique take as normally games roll the credits once they become a couple. The problem is this game probably should have done that, as nothing happens after they become a couple. They face no problems, have no conflict, and nothing of note happens; which makes the latter half of each heroine's route a slog through boring and uneventful dialogue.

<report>Making * Lovers offers a nice little change from the high school setting we so often see in moeges. The protagonist and most heroines are all working (or unemployed) adults living their lives until the story intertwines one another.
That at least was the selling point for me. But that breath of fresh air was not the only thing that kept me reading; M*L has a certain charm with its comedy that had me engaged for the time I was reading it. A warning, however, the comedy is a bit overly silly, and will not hit off with everyone.
The art style is good, and the voice acting was in point. The plots were not all too impressive, but given the Sol/comedy nature of the game, it was not a nagging issue throughout.
One warning is that one route is so good it makes every other route lackluster.

<report>you may think the story is typical but what i love about this is the ambiance and the vibe when the mc is interacting with people. it's always both fun and funny to read and i'll never tire of the conversations. mc is definitely almost always on edge and not too needy. animation looks good and the heroines are diverse in terms of personality and how their approach is in relationships. it's not the usual setting people spending their time in school and their respective stories really correlate to their status in life and there were also fair turning points here and there and the drama is also pretty good for some heroines. it's definitely an excellent one for me. in fact, i've been loving all of smee's works so far i wish i could invest in them.

<report>This is less of an mature "adult romance" novel, and more like romance written for people who put no effort into dating and want their life choices validated.

The MC is unapologetically himself, and that's laudable; but, his lack of decorum is hard for me to imagine most women tolerating on a constant basis, let alone FIVE. Romances start fast (except Reina's), have no stakes or drama (except Karen's, and hers barely counts), and anything that looks like a drama hook is resolved immediately.

Look, I clearly mistook what kind of game this was, and I'm not about to tell you that a dog sucks cos it isn't a cat. Hell, I even had fun at some parts. But, is this really all you want out of the subgenre? Isn't something this obviously fake depressing in a way that reality could never compare to?

<report>Sweet love story with lovable characters of different characteristics, and quite unusually it’s about love for adults instead of high school background for most moege. SMEE did very good here. My favorite character is Reina but I have to say Karen route is probably the best, hence most popular character of this VN. Dating system is fun as well to make your own choice btw (even though for fun I chose love hotel at first every time). Recommended for those enjoy relatively short love story.

(P.S.: I can sense scenario’s love for Singapore considering it’s mentioned in multiple routes. And I (sus) some of the background artworks are modeled from Singapore cause I have lived there before and it just feels familiar. )

<report>Making Lovers is just a joy to read. It is very light-hearted adult romance that just makes you feel like grinning all the time. The game pretty much is just a slice of life romance for adult and there aren't a lot of drama. Everyone one all magically gets along and everyone is likable, it is very much a low-stress game at all levels.
Each route has its own quirk and which one you like the most is gonna be heavily base on preference. Some people love Mashiro to death but then there is me who thinks she is just a B-tier waifu.

If you just want a wholesome, low-stress, adult-romance game you need to play this!

This game route order doesn't matter much just play Karen last just because the Karen route is like S tier while the other is A or B tier for me.

<report>I only completed Karen's route and just by that I can say this game is absolutely worth playing. I am currently on Ako's route and planning to complete all the routes fully. Karen's route was so amazing that I couldn't stop thinking about Karen and her route even in Ako's route. I've read +15 "moege"'s and her route is by far the best one.
If youre planning to play this game do play her route last.

<report>Making Lovers.

Commentary:
-Main protagonist start as a working adult, very different from the usual rest of visual novel, who start as a high-schooler.
-The prologue is so short. Few choices and then straight to the heroine's route. I quite perplexed when I found it.
-This game let the player choose a dating spot inside the heroine's route! That's quite awesome! So we're free to choose the date sequence.
-The thing I like about smee novel is they really good at delivering their joke, with a perfect timing and mighty punchline. Even when they try to throw everything it is still funny enough.

SMEE again proves themselves with a usual romance story with relatable content, but light with conflict. Suited for someone who just wants to relax by reading a fluffy romance. Recommended!

<report>Like everything there are aspects where it succeeds and aspects where it fails personally i found these aspects changed based on the route you are reading. A few routes i felt had an ending that wasnt earned or came out of no where ,while others had lackluster day to day writing but blew it out of the park when it came time for the ending.
Enjoyable to read and if you want a cute romance with some nice H cgs its a nice relaxing read with a few good chuckles sprinkled throughout but if you're looking for something with more depth you should probably look elsewhere it gets a 7/10 for mostly due to personal preferences but you like stuff like this i could reasonably see it being an 8

<report>Making lovers is a adult romance so yeah a typical romance setting that is rare to see this kind of visual novel. Although with the addition of comedy, it seems to be enjoyable to play with each character having their own comedic jokes. The game is more on the comedy than the romance which it is rare for me to like this kind of romcom visual novel. Anyways, the reason why, it didn't reach to a rating of 10, it's because of the two characters having not much comedy and not much serious romance in there route. Although, their story was somewhat good so far, how they were able to make romantic development but I didn't how it started tho. So yeah, that the reason why it is not a rating of 10, but 9.

<report>This game felt like it was made for me. I love romance stories that focus on their lives after they get together, so this game was exactly what I wanted. The main character gives you a terrible first impression and just seems like an awful person in the prologue, but he slowly gets a little better. There were so many funny lines that I ended up taking 67 screenshots by the end of just one route.

<report>I'd recommend Making Lovers to readers who enjoy games with less focus on story, but more on characters and relationships. All of the characters are likable, all of the routes are interesting and production values are high all around. The humor is absolutely on point too.

<report>established stereotypes sell for a reason. there is a reason why a large majority of weeb content is leaning towards the loli and younger sister types. deviating from that is a risk. this ultimately ended in failure. my worst offender is Saki's route. she's 30 years old and still acting like a high schooler going kyaa kyaa on the most mainstream of sex jokes. at age 30 I have to stress that. how does that even make sense? and moreover she tried to basically controlfreak the living shit out of MC's sexual urges. again at age 30. is this what you'd call a recipe for a healthy marriage?

adult romance will never work because ultimately age is everything. age is where you start drinking metformin or some shit for the rest of your life. and you expect the guy to pay for your meds?
