Description

This is the second episode of 9-nine. When a large earthquake struck the university town of Shiromitsugawa, the sacred treasure in the Hakuda Tsukumo Shrine was damaged, and mysterious objects called "artifacts" began to appear from a parallel world. These artifacts granted special abilities to those who possessed them.

There was an incident where someone abused these powers and turned people into stone. Kakeru, who has a strong sense of responsibility, lent his assistance to Miyako in seeking the culprit. His innocent little sister, Sora, also joins them in investigating the serial petrification incidents as they unveil a mysterious group and hidden feelings.

<report>9-Nine Episode 2 is the definitive imouto route experience: what I believe to be a rarity for visual novels

Episode 2 is a major step up from Episode 1. It continues the mystery, deepening the supernatural thriller and establishing a legitimate antagonist. Now that the foundation was setup in the prior volume, Episode 2 takes its time to get to know the cast more, including the lovable gremlin little sister Sora

The banter between Kakeru and Sora is hilarously entertaining and their sibling rapport makes you deeply care for them. And when the conflict interrupts their happy lives, there's a lot at stake, even getting emotional.

Sora sells this volume alone, from a comedic front and a character plot-driven front, and she deserves the attention.

<report>Story proceed like the 1st episode initially until at a certain point Kakeru makes the choice to devote more attention to his sister Sora, leading to events being drastically different. We've started to diverge into different events happening but as you will remember how ep 1 ends, previous events will help and matter in the long run.
Kakeru grows a lot in this ep, going from just the reluctant guy doing this to get closer to Miyako, to having the determination to stop people from abusing their powers to protect his sister. Sora's best girl hands down and this ep really shows her chemistry with Kakeru, both are the characters with a more realistic and down to earth view on the situation instead of being swept by the moment. She also happens to have one of the funniest H-scenes ive seen.

<report>9nine was a good read overall. This episode really picks up compared to episode 1. You start to get into some action, and Sora is a great girl. This might be my favorite episode just because of Sora. But the others were good too.

<report>If you liked the first episodeof 9 -nine-, you'll love this one. If you didn't like the first episode, there's probably a 50/50 chance you'll like this one. It has a lot of things that the first episode didn't, namely more direct and confrontational applications of the superpowers, and a few answers to questions left open in the first episode. I positively love Sora--even if you don't like imouto routes, Sora and Kakeru's interactions are hilarious and surprisingly realistic, and furthermore, Tanezaki Atsumi absolutely slays the voice acting. As I said in my review of the first episode, you'd be better off hooking yourself on the romance and characters instead of the mystery and supernatural murders. Episode 2 handles those aspects better than the first, but not perfectly.

<report>Features one of the most creative opening sequences I have ever read in a VN. Outside of that, this is the most entertaining entry in the series as a standalone game. The central conflict is thought-provoking and even borders on psychological horror at some points. I really appreciate the way that the "villain" here isn't really a driving force as much as a passive instigator of Sora's internal crisis. It gives the story a very personal tone.

<report>8/10 - much better than Episode 1, with a clearer plot, and Sora's constant barrage of funny lines with the supreme Kirihana delivery making this an enjoyable Episode despite still being Act 1 to Epiisode 3 and Episode 4.

As far as this episode goes, I see nothing that makes me change my mind on regarding my opinion that little sisters are best unfucked. Especially because her H-scenes are really mostly comedy anyways. But she's a great little sister character, and she is the character that I ended up enjoying the most because she says the darndest thing.

Their relationship remains closer to a sibling more than anything. It's just that Sora had to admit she's horny af, she actually kind... Read more »

<report>Okay. I really thought I'd rip this series apart for being a rip-off.
Like, changing my first review to a 3 and just say that you should leave it out.
I mean let's be honest about it. Instead of creating a VN containing multiple routes they made you shell out 20 Bucks for every episode. And it essentially is what they are doing... First one was not worth 20 bucks.
Is this one?
I can't say with certainty but if it isn't it comes really, really close. In the end I still think the value of the first two combined does not match a 40 Bucks VN. But it picks up on story and feels!

The visuals are good and the BGM isn't bad just... unnoticeable. The writing becomes clearer but while I enjoyed it... Read more »

<report>I like Kazuki Fumi but unfortunately I can't agree with a popular opinion about EP2 being an improvement compared to EP1.

I feel like the biggest problem of EP2 is that they tried to appeal to their "you don't need to read a previous EP to enjoy this one". Pretty much the first half of the game is wasted on reintroduction of things you know already.

There are bits of new info but in the end it all felt like a filler episode where our main characters have to bring a mid boss down in order to move forward. When you think about it, most of that info could be introduced way more efficiently.

I mean, I honestly feel like pog moments of EP1 were more pog compared to pretty much everything in... Read more »

<report>Maybe contrary to others, I find this episode worse than the previous one.
This episode shifts its focus to less on romance and more on mystery.
Since the romance part, which appeals to me so much in the previous episode, is almost non-existent in this episode, the game will rely mainly on its mystery aspect. Which, to be honest, it's not that great.

The H scenes are absolutely over the top and the "best" ones I have ever read in my life. Sawasawa Sawa (Sora's voice actress) totally kills it. I really cherish the feeling of how it is as if they are still siblings even after committing to each other

There is one serious thing that needs to be nit-picked: Sora's expressions (sprites) could... Read more »

<report>The second part in the 9-Nine series is a decent step-up from the first. They made improvements in two primary aspects that required attention. Here the love interest Sora is better and more fun, and the plot line is more cohesive and dense. Final battle scene and Ghost's death alone here is cooler than all first episode scenes combined. Everything else, including graphics, voice design, and writing style, haven't changed and acceptable. While the quality of the English translation is not paramount here, I have become accustomed to it. Sadly, all BGM music is forgettable as hell, but ending theme deserve appraisal.

They have tightened Sorairo up in its weaker aspects and are suitable for a... Read more »

<report>This is the second part of a four-part series. It's a chuunige that focuses on one particular heroine per episode.

This episode is about Sora, one of the best imouto characters I've seen in any VN. Sora is a closet brocon who comes across as a spoiled brat, but in reality she uses this as an excuse to get close to her brother (who she refers to as "Nii-ni," "Nii-yan," or "Broski" in the less than stellar, liberally translated localization. At least, until certain events cause her to call him Oniichan, which is what she really wants to call him.)

Sora is voiced by one of the funniest and most talented VAs in the eroge business (so the point where I'm actually surprised she still does them... Read more »
