Description

—Despite all the singing around her, her world was soundless.

In a small village cut off from the rest of the world, Phada, the villagers spend their days slowly, idling away time by speaking with one another, eating with one another, and dedicating all their attention to studying scripture. With a population of only 145, the governing body of the town is the Group, the name of the miniscule clergy that inhabits the church at the top of the hill. They worship a protective God comprised of two halves: the "Barrier" defensive energy and the "Expulsive" offensive energy.

In a town where all you can do is socialize, young Mercy is denied this. Since birth, she has seen the unseen, and was taken in by the Group after losing her parents. Upon turning ten, her vision seemingly became corrupt, causing panic among the villagers. It was decided by the Head Priest and the Holy Woman that the only way to deal with this curse is to aggressively apply the "antibiotics."

In other words, isolate Mercy until she stops seeing things.

Now an empty shell of who she once was, 15-year-old Mercy attends school and is constantly bullied by her classmates, some truly afraid of her, but most seeing her as an easy target. The sudden death of the 25th Holy Woman startles the village, causing many to believe Mercy's curse is spreading and for her abuse to become more aggressive. Then, one day, the Head Priest reveals God has given them two young Holy Women rather than one.

When classes end the next day, one of them calls out to Mercy.

"I can see it, too."

<report>this game is fucking incredible; if you're a fan of denpa at all, i 100% recommend it -- by far the best EVN i've ever played, and you'd be doing yourself a real disservice by missing out on this one. The art is a little stale and flat, but the writing and interesting plot more than make up for it (and c'mon, lets be honest, if you're playing denpa VNs you clearly don't care about art quality). the after info section is a real nice touch too.

<report>Feels to me like the gritty indie remake of Saya no Uta made by someone with something to say and no holds to bar. There are a lot of common elements - the hallucinating protagonist, the seemingly redemptive female figure with a sinister secret, the apocalyptic climax... - but I think that if you can look past the amateur production values then Soundless is actually the better piece of writing. Well, they are in fact the only two works I've rated 10/10 on this website, so try them both, but nobody should miss out on Soundless. And you can't argue with the asking price.

<report>I almost can't believe this game is free.
If you like atmospheric denpa stories, this is for you. It starts off incredibly strong, so much so I felt like I blinked once and a couple of hours had passed. The atmosphere alone captured me from the get-go, and everything else (from the sprites to the sound design) fit so well together, that I can't be more glad to have read it. Try it. Seriously.

<report>I saw this in the denpa tag & decided to give it a read since it was rated pretty well, I try not to pay too much mind to ratings when I pick something up but this one took me by surprise; Around 4h in I was wondering how much longer it was going to go on for & eventually dropped it a short while later, bout a year later now & I've finished it & I still sorta feel about the same way I did before, but I am honestly glad I stuck it thru.

This is in no way to say that I think this is all bad btw, it's really clear that this is their first big project & honestly I am really impressed, the parts that (in my opinion) were the strongest were really strong & really captivated me & made me want to... Read more »
