Description

The Tokyo metropolitan area's H City. In this suburban city, a strange rumor has been spreading recently. Those who possess the «mark» will die. The «mark» is unexpectedly engraved onto the body, as if it was a chewed up birthmark, and is said to result in an unknown death.

As a matter of fact, a strange incident occurred where someone met a suspicious death. This incident has become an urban legend, and has propagated various speculation such as it being the result of a ghost encounter somewhere or unknowingly coming into contact with a curse.

Having lost your memory, you stand before a western-style house said to protect those who possess the «mark». As if drawn to something, when the doors to the house open, you're greeted by a beautiful doll who is the lord of the mansion.

«Welcome to Kujou Mansion.»

The doll continued to speak.

«You will die if you stay like this.»

«But that doesn't mean that there isn't a way to be saved.»

The countdown to «death» had already begun…

<report>The art of the game is really impressive, the GUI is not bad, the music works well with the game, although at first I was not convinced, it ended up being a good combination. The atmosphere is fierce, the monsters are bizarre, and their backstories are each better than the other.

Characters vary, and you can have one of them join your party at certain times in the game, but he tries to have the right combination, or things may not turn out as you expected.
(Maybe you are going to need a guide if you don't pay attention to the dialogues, because knowing what are the objects you need to save or kill the spirit is sometimes not that easy.)

Some chapters are longer, others turn out to be... Read more »

<report>For a fan of horror, this game is probably great. It has a nice spooky atmosphere and scary-looking monsters. But I'm not really a fan of horror itself, I want to also have a good story with interesting ideas attached to it, and this one isn't exactly outstanding in that department.

It's not bad by any means, but it also doesn't feel like it has anything to say in particular either. I appreciated that they tried to give each spirit some level of depth, but in practice only like 2 of them were interesting to me. But the part that bugs me the most is how the game treats its characters. Each one only sticks around for one or at most two chapters, and before you get to learn anything all that... Read more »

<report>tl;dr: A horror adventure visual novel with some interesting concepts and good art but somewhat weak writing and low production values.

Shiin is a horror adventure game centered around the protagonist, Yashiki, dealing with what are known as Marks. When a human interacts with an evil spirit, a strange scar known as a Mark appears somewhere on their skin. Mark bearers slowly forget things and then ultimately die. Yashiki ends up at the Kujou mansion having forgotten most everything. Upon entering he discovers that the family head, Saya, was investigating the Marks. Unfortunately for him, she died before she could properly deal with hers. However, he does learn that the only way to get rid... Read more »
