Description

A long time ago, a group of special girls known as ‘mahou shoujos’ saved the world after a fierce battle where blood and tears were shed and prayers were made. It was an overly common battle tale. However, no one thanked or praised them for their victory. In fact, no one even knew them at all. Even so, the future of humanity was protected and it came to a happy end.

Now around ten years later, it was spring, the season of meetings and farewells. Those who had once saved the world have forgotten ‘magic’ and lived as normal girls with ordinary encounters and problems. Taiga was approached by the transfer student Haru, who made a request of him:

“Please turn me back into a mahou shoujo.”

<report>Undoubtedly Favorite's masterpiece which spent 6 years in development and further suffered a series of 4 months delay before its reach perfection of maximum suffering. While appearing to be another typical romance-drama kind of story at first glance, and although it definitely ends on a happy note, it is, in fact, quite fucked up than what the cover initially suggested. Sakura Moyu portrays the unexpectedly dark fantasy, engaging in human mind creatively yet sometimes disturbingly, with its main theme revolves around self-sacrifice of desperate, despaired adolescents, who wish to pay their dearest thing, in exchange for being free from living with the regrets.

To begin with, I usually... Read more »

<report>Wow, what a ride it was! It took me a long time to complete the story, longer than I usually take to read a whole VN. I'll explain why later. So, what you can expect from "Sakura, Moyu"?

If you want to read an action-packed story that will captivate you from start to finish, then...look somewhere else. If you want to read a divine-level nakige that would make you cry - it is a perfect choice!

Engagement level: 5/10

It is very common for a nakige to drag for too long and have a lot of emotionally draining parts that are hard to read, but it is even more obvious in Moyu. Unlike most other games of the genre, the common route here is really short, most of the text is heroine routes. But... Read more »

<report>[This review may contain some mild conceptual/structural spoilers to the work. Any express spoilers are marked.]

Sakuramoyu presents an intricate, grand story told frequently through verbose, repetitive prose. The result is something awe-inspiring, but the experience may not be the most enjoyable. At its core, Sakuramoyu is a nakige which moonlights as a complex, mechanics-driven work (comparable to Island, where its world is as mysterious as it is deep). Character routes (all with maybe the exception of one) have a compelling dramatic, satisfying resolution and develop the work’s core philosophies. Sakuramoyu is not without its flaws, as it suffers from atrocious pacing and repetitive... Read more »

<report>“Our magic is our incomparable imagination”

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
After receiving many recommendations and compliments I decided to buy my ticket at the midnight station and board the train. It is definitely a title that lives up to the title of “Nakige”, some small flaws prevent me from classifying it as “perfect”, in spite of that, it is a required reading.

NOTICE TO NEW READERS
This work may induce uncontrollable urges to furiously press "Ctrl", meaning it is a work for patient readers.
Sometimes the writing is irregular, slow and irritating; At these moments, simply advance the dialogue a little faster than your usual reading speed, this way you can capture the idea of the scene without... Read more »

<report>Sakura Moyu is not a bad game; it is excellent in many individual aspects. However, it is hard to say that this game is overall excellent. It welds exclusive or disharmonic contents into an ornate scribble.

The game inserts a lot of flashbacks into each route. Flashbacks are a good method; however the game smashes everything. The time order and logic relation between flashbacks and among flashbacks and other parts are messy. It is hard to understand the plot because of this.

The game enforced a playing order. It welds 2 mediocre routes in the front of its core. Although the 2 routes are complements of the true end route, they are kicking out players. There are scenes that seem like... Read more »
