Description

July 10, 2061, Sunday. City: Nariyama. Prefecture: Chiba.

Yamanashi Sora designed a new radio using spare parts.

"Phew... Just in time."

That day marked the fifteenth year since the artificial pigeons started devouring all radio waves. On it, Sora began broadcasting using the transceiver left to him by his father.

The day after his first rocky radio program, the radio picked up a different mysterious broadcast.

"This is a follow-up report on the fall of "Blue Sky." The person caught up in the accident at the former site of Terminal 1 has been identified. The name of the deceased is Yamanashi Sora. Furthermore, many injuries are being reported at Nariyama Sky Academy."

It was a radio broadcast from the future.

"I'll... die in three weeks?"

After listening to the ominous broadcast, Sora stepped into the terminal for the first time in fifteen years. It was once the former gateway to Japan, and the place where Sora lost his parents. The building was in ruins, a shadow of its former glory, little more than a nest to countless artificial pigeons. There, Sora met a silver-haired maiden. She looked straight at Sora, gently stroking an artificial pigeon with her finger.

"...You won't die."

Sora was dumbfounded.

"I won't let it happen."
"Because I want you to look up at the sky and smile."

This is how Yamanashi Sora and Hazuki Kaguya met.

<report>I would describe this vn as a... closed-off world. the characters are the only people interacting in this closed-off world. because otherwise there should have been other people who:

already re-introducted wired connection.
or hobbyists doing stuff like, oh I don't know, do some pigeon hunting?
or the retro fans bringing out old hardware. CRT nerds anyone?
or hell, where is the government in all of this?

just because of this, I couldn't take the vn seriously. so what's left? oh the characters. yeah. the interactions are nice. the part where the whole gang is up onto something is interesting but again, it suffers from the broader picture of "where are the hobbyists?". they should have done this years ago. and by years, I mean 15 years ago since the "incident" revealed way early in the vn.

<report>As a sci-fi VN, The Future Radio and the Artificial Pigeons has an interesting premise. I was hooked into the story from early on (eventho it isn't strong in the realism aspect lol. I mean, they try to make it realistic but it feel too far-fetched).

The interesting plot suppose to supplement the romance story they're trying to tell in this VN. But I kinda feel like they failed in that aspect. The romance development in this felt short and not developed well enough. I actually like how the story develop right until they wanted to develop the love story. They should've extend the story and give more time for the characters to develop. What could've been a great romance development, felt lackluster.

Overall it's still a good sci-fi romance VN, but it could've been better...

<report>Future Radio is WILD, and I'm not convinced that's a good thing. The story sets up an exciting premise and conflict. Then, you meet a new character that feels completely out of place, and the conflict changes to some Omelasian bullshit. Then, depending on which story route you take, the conflict of the story changes AGAIN.

This isn't anything new in the realm of storytelling; but usually, conflict changes just up the stakes, and they're introduced sequentially as one resolves. Here, it just changes out of nowhere to something much less interesting. Every causal effect of this character's arrival in the story makes it worse. A shame, considering how much fun the game was up to that point.

Oh, and in one ending, you boink your step-sister, and it's pretty fuckin' weird.

<report>decent read.

Common route felt like a mixed bag. I enjoyed some of it until they decided to shove Kaguya down your throat, i just dont like for the most part vns that have a centered heroine.

Character routes were enjoyable for the most part but they just felt short and underdeveloped in many ways. My fav route and girl was Tsubaki for sure although every time she spoke I only heard Kazusa lol

<report>The Future Radio and the Artificial Pigeons has an interesting concept and compelling themes. Unfortunately, it fumbles the execution, too often rushing to hit the next plot point rather than taking the time to build investment in its ideas and characters, and as result, undermines the emotional and thematic impact it aspires to.

<report>Well this was a surprise to me, even though I played a Laplacian Title before with Newton and the Apple Tree. And somewhat the same feeling of "Oh this is going to be a weird Moege..." I had starting that. And weirdly enough it's just so far removed from the Suspension of Disbelief that you go "Yeah that is probably not worth my time." Going into this I was fully convinced I'd trash it in a review and by the time I realized it's much deeper and more engaging I had already fallen.

Let's start with the Technical stuff again: The art is quite well done, the BGM is Jazzy and never obtuse or annoying, I have not encountered Bugs or Typos that I'd have noticed. So from the Start a solid 4-5 on... Read more »

<report>I tried this VN to learn more about the Laplacian team and prepare myself to read Aojashin. I got what I wanted and enjoyed, so I recommend the game.

Nevertheless, Future Radio has the same amount of virtues and flaws. Here are lively and appealing characters, still, the game feels like a theater with no people other than the heroes. Artists made vibrant CGs, but cheap fonts and weird perspectives in them.
Scenarist had made a well-written and cohesive plot. For some reason, they also added some unnecessary routes in the story, but okay, siscon and big booba fans are satisfied. But English translation literally finished it off to a mediocre level, translating one word as a complex sentence... Read more »
