Description

Elves are smart, long-lived, and attuned to the wind. Wips can manipulate flame. Segitts have incredible muscular strength. Somehow, humans have learned to survive. In the racially-diverse technopolis of the Seventh Republic, they even dominate.
Out of all the strange and terrible corners of the world, at least humans can feel safe in this one. Here, there’s strength in numbers. Within this country's peacekeeping police force lies a special 13th Division reserved for the troublemakers, eccentrics, and other such unorthodox individuals of the organization.

One human, though? Pitifully outclassed against a single member of almost any other race; it’d never be a fair fight—unless that human was a Keeper or carrying some serious Class A police tech. But tech can be stolen, and far from all Keepers are on the side of justice.
Strict border checks. Pervasive, draconian surveillance, with camera eyes and a computerized spine running signals to the heart of the NPA, the National Police Agency. And the physical hands of this digital dragon? The police themselves. Sometimes the hands of justice grip too tight.
So how’s a nation supposed to keep the peace?

Among this police force, one division dares to stand against the current. One division dares to disobey orders, break regulations, refuse to work overtime, and generally make themselves useless to everyone, especially their bosses, except for people in need. That is our protagonist Hiryuu Ruka.
Despite his outstanding capabilities as an officer, his problematic demeanor and obsession with the events that sparked a past tragedy invited the ire of the upper management and landed him where he is now: the 13th Division of the NPA. The Sideliners.

Ruka prefers to work alone, but the addition of an Elf by the name of Claris to the division put an end to his lone-wolf work style as he was made to pair up with the fresh-out-of-police-school newcomer. As Ruka spends his days bickering with the incompetent newcomer and his incompetent superiors, he rescues a girl who's come to the Seventh Republic in seek of refuge, setting in motion events that would change his life forever.

<report>I've played around 50 VNs by now and this has been my favorite so far. This is the first time I've felt compelled to finish all routes (even if I didn't like all the heroines), just because the narrative and story telling were so great. I was never tempted to skip dialogue at all, even with the length of this novel.

I feel like this game gets hate because people wanted things to be wrapped up & solved at the end. Personally, I'd rather wait for a sequel then have everything rushed half-assedly, like most VNs I've played. I loved ALL the characters (also a first for me; usually at least a few start to grind my gears after a few hours in). They all felt like real/relatable people, even guys... Read more »

<report>Overall I liked it. It had a fun setting, great character banter, interesting mysteries, and generally decent character development.

As many have said, easily the biggest flaw of the VN is that all the heroine route endings are 'open-ended'. Best way I can describe it without spoilers is that there are conflicts resolved, usually just the romance and some kind of "mini-boss". But the bigger conflict at large is definitely unresolved and the VN overtly highlights that. Thankfully there is a sequel being developed but it's unfortunate whatever circumstances led to incomplete routes had to happen.

Only other flaw is the romance in each route is slightly rushed. You can kinda see the... Read more »

<report>Meteor World Actor is a very good Visual Novel that executes most of its themes quite well. It's an episodic story with 4 common route chapters and 1 chapter for each heroine.

The story of the game it's about our protagonist, Ruka, a detective that has been in the force for a lot of years, yet has never been promoted, then one day a rookie elf gets paired with Ruka as his partner, and because Ruka is more of a "lone wolf" type of person he doesn't like the idea, but is forced into it.

Now, the common route of the game is one of the highlights of it (except chapter 3, I'll explain why later), as for the heroine routes, they are good, but they not only feel rushed at parts, but also don't... Read more »

<report>It’s almost a signature of Kinugasa Shougo’s work: a powerful protagonist hiding his power, we have seen it in Akatsuki no Goei. Yet this work is far from finish, and if I judge this game along, the lack of crucial details about main plot makes me hard to complement this game’s story. from what I know, the sequel also has not fully explained them The motive of character seems a bit odd I really cannot understand why the protagonist want Claris to kill him. I mean, if he is feeling so bad about his mentor, he could choose to suicide and alter Claris’s memory to complete forgot everything rather than having his blood all over another living being’s hand, as he did not indicate the reason... <report>General Overview

MWA is a Noir-Like detectice/crime story set in a World where there a different races, like elves, Genoms, Pixies and Seggits. All living together in a country controlled by humans named the 7th Republic. A cultural Melting Pot with all kinds of lowlifes, criminals and corruption. You play as a detective named Ruka. A downtrodden, sarcastic guy who is a really good detective but has problems with authority and a lack of motivation. He is regarded as a troublemaker and useless. Because of this he is working at the 13th division. A division where capable but hard to integrate detectives do their work. From everyone in their department disregarded as useless they tend to do... Read more »

<report>I really like this novel and it was a really fun read but it has many ups and downs which really is a shame. I can only hope that the sequels tie this one up to the rest to make a great overall series.

TLDR - If you are wondering if it's worth reading then yes it has great entertainment value.

As for its ups and downs, well let's get to that by going over the main features of this vn.

Comedy

Honestly, it has some really funny humor that takes full advantage of our protagonist's deadbeat detective personality. It almost feels nostalgic as if I'm watching an old crime series. It has some really clever 4th wall breaks as well that surprised me in some parts.

The problem though is... Read more »

<report>Meteor world actor is a very entertaining VN carried by good interactions, interesting plot lines and amazing art. The back-and-forth between characters along with all the mini mysteries in each chapters made it an easy read. I also look forward to future games resolving the big plot line and have no issues with the game not being finished unlike other reviews. As for the heroines, I thought they were all likeable and at least 3 of the 4 had interesting routes (one of the was meh to because it was basically just slice of life with no big case until the very end).

As for the negatives well I have two major problems. First, the romance is just not good. There is close to 0 build up and it... Read more »

<report>As many other reviews on here have said, this is clearly meant to be the first part of the series, and with the obvious hints of who the final villains are going to be, this has the material to be at least a trilogy. I'd say the cliffhanger in this VN is about Ley Line 1/Great Ace Attorney 1 level, and not as bad as the cliffhangers from the Blazblue series or that one from Labyrinth of Grisaia.

About the overall package i'd say the best thing about it is the witty dialogue, because the banter between the protagonist and the heroines is awesome. The world-building is interesting, but it's hard for me to get into it when all the races are so humanoid (it remains to be seen how important... Read more »

<report>Meteor World Actor is about Ruka Hiryuu, a Detectiv who gathers Intel from Civilians and past Crime Scenes, to Find so called Keepers, very Dangerous Criminals with Special Abilities.
MWA is divided into 5 Chapters, the first Four being the Common Route and the fifth one being the Route of your Choice.
The first 4 Chapters is what I would call the real meat of this VN. The Individual Character Routes are honestly pretty bad.
barely any Romance at all, they just have zero Connection and Feelings towards each other, yet they bang not to long after your entered the Character Route.
Not to Mention that, no matter what Route you take, the Ending is always Open-Ended as heck, which is by far my... Read more »

<report>I'm still at the common route and I'm blown away by how relatable the MC is. he's perfectly what you'd describe as a jaded dude in his 30s who has seen shit in life and has long decided not to give shit about anything apart from basic needs. he doesn't try any harder than what is basically required of him. and by that I mean just make sure that food, utilities and rent is paid and if he has extra cash he can go for some bar fun. the author doesn't have to show what his past looked like, his internal monologue is all you need.

the heroines... yeah they're also acting very much the same as he is except Claris. Claris is still acting naive and idealistic, which is fine, but you can definitely... Read more »
