Description

After abandoning her high-powered tech career and a mysterious three-year absence, Evelyn Ishino-Aubrey resurfaces working as a proxy for a virtual counseling app called Eliza. Her job consists solely of reading a script provided to her in real-time by an AI, leaving her no autonomy over what she says. Is Eliza a technological marvel that brings therapy to those who otherwise couldn’t access it? Or is it an ineffective replacement and another vector for technology companies to gain control over our lives and humanity?

As she reconnects with people from her past and gets to know the ordinary people of Seattle who use Eliza for counseling, Evelyn finds herself caught in the middle between differing sides of the argument— and as she begins to question everything about her past life and future purpose in the world, it becomes clear she must confront the turmoil and darkness inside.

<report>A very interesting story dealing with the topics of AI and mental health. The story is a bit slow at first, but once it picked up, I stayed invested up to the very end. Definitely a very enjoyable game.

It’s definitely a novelty in that it doesn’t come from an indie developer or an established VN developer but from a well known game developer known for its puzzle and programming games. It’s the sort of story specifically made to say things and ask important questions and put it in the form of a VN, perhaps taken to an extreme... Read more »

<report>Eliza is a rather linear visual novel that puts you in the shoes of Evelyn, a young woman who acts as a human link between an artificial intelligence and patients in need of psychological support.

As the rise of AI is one of the most topical issues of our time, the game offers an interesting analysis of our technological evolution and whether or not it can really help humanity.

❤ Beautiful art direction, with a hand-painted look for the characters and fairly detailed sceneries.
❤ The dubbing was very convincing, especially for the patients, where emotions flow naturally without exaggeration.
❤ A good portrayal of mental illness, whether depression, anxiety, mood disorders, etc., without... Read more »
