<report>There’s a reason Da Capo is everywhere. It’s even referenced in anime like Lucky Star. It’s the start of an entire series with side stories for the heroines, continuations about the children of heroines, side continuations and what ifs. Da Capo itself captured essentially cute girls in a great story. It’s a modern fantasy setting about the consequence of wishes and a magic tree. From Mizukoshi Moe wishing to see her childhood friend again to Shirakawa Kotori wishing to understand her step family to Asakura Nemu just wanting a family at all.

It’s a good story, this isn’t a “be careful what you wish for”. All the wishes granted are good it’s just some are in conflict with each other and some cause harm, not because the wishes are bad but because that’s the only way to grant them. It’s enjoyable and great to read.

<report>The game is really strong in a lot of areas, particularly the music. It almost feels unfair that it’s let down by these significant failures in storytelling.

I spent about 20 hours reading through Da Capo’s seven routes and I don’t regret my time with it at all. Of course, I have a lot of problems with the narrative, but I can’t say I came away feeling all that negative about the experience as a whole. I think if you sum it all up, the good and the bad, it comes out at about average. Your enjoyment will hinge a fair bit I think on your patience for melodrama and janky dialogue, but even if that does wear you down you’ve at least got some pretty pictures to look at whilst you listen to a top-tier OST.

<report>My decision to read Da Capo was based on a personal goal to read a lot of older VNs that influenced the medium. I've waited a bit after finishing it to leave a review, because truthfully I think I should have waited until I had a few more VNs under my belt to start this one.

For starters, it's not bad. There weren't any scenes or arcs that made me want to put the story down, and there are no striking flaws that would keep me from recommending it to a moege fan. For that reason, I'll begin by talking about the things I enjoyed about it:
-Right off the bat, I was charmed by the obviously dated menu, UI, and soundtrack. It reminded me specifically of the N64, which was a pleasant surprise. I... Read more »

<report>I'm gonna try and be reasonable with my review but the title has had such a large influence on my life that it may be hard, just bear that in mind.

That being said I absolutely love this title. I read the game in 2009 after my interest in Japanese anime/eroge began to take hold. Since then I've read it several times. This was not only my first visual novel but the Anime was also my first. The characters, art, score, and writing are all winners in my book.

The characters are well established, although there is nothing too crazy occurring in terms of plot. They're your quintessential anime characters with a supernatural twist that exists mainly to spice the plot up bit. I know people... Read more »

<report>So, let's talk about Da Capo – this rad visual novel set on a made-up Japanese island. Picture this: you're this dude sharing digs with your stepsis (who joined the fam after her folks had a rough time) when, out of the blue, your childhood buddy swings back from the States after being MIA for ages, all because of some dream magic.

Now, Da Capo is your typical bishojo game – you know, picking from a bunch of cute girls to romance and getting into their stories. But, here's the twist – there's this legend about an everblooming sakura tree that ties all the characters together in this mysterious way. It's like, whoa, romance with a side of supernatural vibes.

Sure, the game's got its quirks... Read more »

<report>Quick summary: If you want to play all the vn's in the dc series this one is needed to fully understand every small reference but not the plot, i recommend starting on 2 if you want depth in the plot and good character design. As the story in this one starts super slow (which would be fine if they were building something up) then they jump into vertigo and you just wonder what just happened, what did any of that mean. The second game helps explain it a bit but that still doesn't excuse it. While I complain about the game a lot, the art style was good for its time but now is just average. Also the music is definitely a 9/10 really good in some moments though, the problem is there's no good... Read more »
