Description

In the near future, a sudden and unexplained sea rise has left much of human civilization underwater.

Ikaruga Natsuki, a boy who lost his mother and his leg in an accident some years earlier, returns disillusioned from a harsh life in the big city to find his old countryside home half-swallowed by the sea.

Left without a family, all he has to his name is the ship and submarine left to him by his oceanologist grandmother, and her debts.

His only hope to restore the dreams for the future that he has lost is to take up an opportunity presented to him by the suspicious debt collector Catherine. They set sail to search the sunken ruins of his grandmother's laboratory in order to find a treasure rumor says she left there.

But what they find is not riches or jewels; it is a strange girl lying asleep in a coffin at the bottom of the sea.
Atri.

Atri is a robot, but her appearance and her wealth of emotions would fool anyone into think she's a living, breathing human being. In gratitude for being salvaged, she makes a declaration to Natsuki.

"I want to fulfill my master's final order. Until I do, I'll be your leg!"

In a little town slowly being enveloped by the ocean, an unforgettable summer is about to begin for this boy and this mysterious robot girl...

<report>Part 1: Do You Remember Wonder?

I don't know what black magic market research Aniplex must have done, but I really don't think they could have released a pair of debut games that is more within my strike-zone if they tried... ATRI just combines so many things that I absolutely adore:

The backdrop of the "harmonious apocalypse" as in Eden* or Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou or Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryouko - this understanding of apocalypse fiction that is so fragile and evocative and uniquely Japanese.

The doomed, fleeting romance, and grandiose, "saving the world" settei of classic "sekaikei" stories, reimagined for a new, modern era, hopefully the vanguard of a renaissance of this genre alongside... Read more »

<report>“Time is a cruel thief to rob us of our former selves. We lose as much to life as we do to death.”

This quote defines the entirety of the story perfectly. As time perpetually moves, people, surroundings, and everything else change. Time waits for no one. Tomorrow comes as surely as today came after yesterday, and so will the next day. Still, one thing will stand proud in from of time and laugh in its face: memories. Memories of good and bad days, of important and trivial matters, of laughter and sadness. Memories define who we are as people and keep us going forward, no matter what the situation may be.

ATRI can only be described by a single word: beautiful. Everything about it is so... Read more »

<report>A really great emotional roller coaster VN. I really love the story and character overall. The VN start with light heart and funny slice of life but get serious in the middle through the end. The drama is done well and successfully made me shed tears for a few scenes.

The best part of this VN is the titular heroine Atri, a cheerful and airhead humanoid robot that accompany the protagonist. Even though she brag a lot about being high performance household robot, she is useless with almost all of the household chore, at least at the start. She is really cute and funny and make me smile every time she appear, which is 90% of the VN. The protagonist, Natsuki is also good character. He is... Read more »

<report>My playtime lasted about 20 hours overall, listening to most voices and playing on auto mode. If not for the pretty visuals, fully voiced lines, and nice music, I would have dropped this after a few hours and never regretted my choice.

The writing is abysmally unambitious and doesn't accomplish anything. Every action the characters take seems to only exist to progress the plot, which advances at a snail's pace despite being no more impressive than a skeleton of a plot a 14-year-old could have written.
And honestly that would be fine if the game explored interesting idea while doing stuff unrelated to the plot, but...it just doesn't do anything. It's impressive how it can have a genuinely... Read more »

<report>ATRI -My Dear Moments- was my first visual novel, and it couldn't have been a better introduction as it perfectly suits my tastes. It’s part post-apocalyptic story about coping with and finding hope in a world that is slowly sinking underwater and life becoming more primitive as a lot of land gets lost to the sea and technology declines. At the same time it's a coming of age romance about a depressed guy who has lost a lot of what is dear to him (including his leg) and is trying to recover as he goes out to find his place in this dying world in spite of his handicaps, and a mysterious robot girl who supports him as she attempts to figure out her own purpose. It deals with robot-human... Read more »

<report>A short, sweet and well-written visual novel, recommended to anyone looking for a true love story with a few opportunities to reach out for a box of tissues to dry out one's eyes.

Visual art is crisp, consistent, vibrant and detailed but CGs are few and far between - the game could use more of them to bring out some key moments and give the story even more character

Music in the VN is fine, but not really memorable. BGMs are generic, similar with insert songs but audio doesn't get in the way of enjoying the full package. It's just there filling the gap.
That being said, VAs did a great job voicing characters giving them a lot of charm and amplifying their relationships.

The biggest... Read more »
