Description

Let's set out to find a real treasure.

Tyler is a high school student who is obsessed with geohunting, a GPS-based treasure hunting game.
One day during summer vacation, Tyler and his friends get drawn into a mysterious incident while out treasure-hunting.
The real and imagined become interconnected. Thoughts are thrown into chaos. Tomorrow becomes today.

Swallowed up by a time vortex, they are trapped in a never-ending time loop, repeating "today" again and again.

Then they meet other "loopers."
Simon, the leader, and the mysterious girl Mia.
If they join forces, will they be able to break out from this eternal prison...?

<report>Ryuu you have been making VNs for 2 decades, please put effort into your VNs. This is just something he wrote in a week with minimal effort for a quick Key pay-check.
Characters are very underdeveloped outside of Mia. The concept is heavily underutilised, using surface level ideas and not actually delving in to the psychological impact something like this would have outside of "jokes". I guess it had to be upbeat and fun but then there's also attempts at serious subjects which fall flat in here so like... who knows.
Blame Key all you want but Romeo still wrote Rewrite under their strict observation. Ryuu also wrote for that VN and his route was disjointed and a mess so Loopers is no surprise. At least it's better than Lucia Route.

Just read Rewrite or Umineko or hell even Higurashi.

<report>Honestly they could've explored more on the mysteries of the spiral instead of toning down the plot into a somewhat forced "tearjerker" comatose driven storyline. It had so much potential with its standalone setting but they had to bombshell it with the most weird ass plot twist which I wouldn't even call a plot twist. Not to mention that weird setup with the ending (like is it open ended or what).

Nevertheless the music was pretty decent. Overall id give the game a 4 or 5

<report>This is pretty standard Key kinetic novel affair. If you've seen one you've seen them all. Art style is nice... but too few in CG count. Characters are varied, interesting, and well voiced... but there are so many in such a short game that they're not all developed enough. Music is good (I'm a sajou no hana fan) and tracks are catchy. The plot is going to be contentious as ever with these super short games, especially when time travel is involved; I liked it for one though, especially the comedy near the start of the game. As I write this, it's not even 11am in Japan on release day, and I did not play non-stop by any means, so that should give some indication of how short this game is. I'd say maybe 5-6 hours.

For 2k it's worth it for a Key fan, probably not worth it for anyone else.

<report>This really feels like a first draft; the pacing is all over the place, it has a solid start and solid end with a less than stellar mid section, and it is extremely derivative of other Key works. It's not terrible by any means, but in the grand scheme of other Key works and especially other Ryuukishi07 works, this just feels like filler.

Even if you're a dedicated Ryuukishi fan, I'd say you can safely skip this, it's mostly bereft of his usual style and charm, and aside from Ookamikakushi I can easily say it's my least favorite work of his. However, if you're a Key fan and want something familiar but short, and you've already read all the unanimously good short Key KNs like planetarian and Tsui no Stella, I think Loopers passes the time well enough. It's not great but also not terrible.

<report>Conceived as a half-assed product to sell rather than being a project made with passion.

Usual Key formula to a T, where the power of friendship conquers all -- expect a bittersweet plot twist followed by a happy ending. Unambitious story with pointless filler, with barely any attempt at fleshing out the members of the club. The two main characters fall in love with one another without any established build-up, while everyone else is bored off-screen repeating the same day.

Half of the cast is left out of the story and is irrelevant -- worst offender is how out of 10 of them, 2 don't even have 2D character sprites. The VN desperately needed at the very least 4 or 5 additional chapters to address the lore, especially since the supernatural elements surrounding the time loop are unknown.

<report>⭐ LOOPERS is a collab visual novel between KEY and Ryukishi07. However, while it may be written by Ryukishi and has time looping, LOOPERS contains the spirit of a KEY title.

Pros:
• Short and simple sci-fi love drama
• Time loop mechanics focus of emphasizing character relationships
• Passionate voice acting from the characters during emotional moments.

Cons:
• Ryukishi’s horror segments are out of place in LOOPERS’s overall tone
• Lack of formal explanation regarding how the Loops work.
• Tyler’s energetic personality is a double-edge sword; magnetic and passionate but also loud and obnoxious.

Don't go in expecting high standards considering Ryukishi07 and KEY's names attached to this. You will be heavily disappointed.

<report>This work is an atrocity, but I'm glad I read it. The moment I finished I realized how much better so many of the vns I considered mediocre really were, maybe I won't be so harsh on them in the future.

The vn takes roughly 5-7 hours to read, and somehow feels way too long. The entire story could've been resolved in 30 minutes. None of the characters get any real or believable development. Only one character Mia was interesting at all, if only barely.

Some other reviewers felt that perhaps it was r07 fans who were being too harsh hating on the vn. I can assure you as someone who has read the first four chapters of Higurashi and thought they were mediocre, I also think this work sucks.

I highly recommend avoiding this work, I wish I'd read any reviews first.

<report>The "all ages" rating is a lie, this is a visual novel for toddlers. I knew the reviews were bad, but they were bad for Iwaihime too and I enjoyed that a ton, so I gave this a chance. I was hopeful after the prologue when Leona went crazy, but the cool promises of the prologue (insanity, madness, supernatural and mysterious deaths, existential dread, etc.) are thrown away as soon as Tyler (the turd in the punchbowl) enters the spiral.

The solution to eternal boredom is a super obnoxious guy obsessed with geohunting who only knows how to yell. Give me a break.

What a disappointment by Key and Ryu. Totally phoned in, lazy, stupid, and bland.

<report>This game is very good although some words are repetitive. but overall I was able to immerse myself in the storytelling in the "loops" this game has to offer. And the most important thing of this game is Mia is so cute. :))))

<report>R07 is good at writing certain things, Horror, Thrillers, Mysteries, and Comedies (Intentional or otherwise). What's he's not good at writing is character dramas or emotional scenes. Loopers unfortunately does not play into any of his strengths and is at its core a character drama with a loose supernatural premise surrounding it.

Loopers is a short game, and I gotta give credit where its due, not as long-winded as some of his other works, but my goodness is it bland. The moment you see young Taira in the beginning give the eraser to young Mia, you pretty much know what the climax and resolution of the entire VN would be about. When the game came to its end with the autoplay engaged and... Read more »

<report>Let's be honest, it won't surprise you if you're familiar with Key already. The game suffers from the same problem as Summer Pockets and Kami-sama ni Natta Hi so you might enjoy it but still feel that you've seen this already at the same time. But it still a nice little game that tries to add its own touch to the similar story.

First of all, the theme of GPS hunting is really-really good in my opinion since it perfectly fits a Key game and adds this sweet feeling of adventure.

Second, I appreciate an attempt to write a bit more chill story about a loop. There is enough drama about it but it's pleasant to read about characters simply living their lives in this environment. And this part... Read more »

<report>This visual novel is honestly disappointing however, I will say that there are few things I like.

The character designs are criminally cute (especially Mia), not only do they have great overall designs that are just unique, but they are very beautiful and colorful/vivid.

The music/OST: The openings and also the background music are soothing and shift in tone is really good and suitable for some of the scenes, when it shifts to a darker tone.
The singing by the artist sana is just awesome and I really liked the two opening overalls.

However there are many flaws to this VN and sure this isn't a When They Cry masterpiece or part of the franchise and I never expected it to be in the first... Read more »

<report>I've read some of the reviews here, and it seems like there is a divide between Key fans enjoying the work, while R07 fans find it underwhelming at best. With that being the case, I will go ahead and disclose that I am approaching this as a fan of both Key and Ryukishi. Clannad and Little Busters are some of my favorite visual novels of all time, and I've read and thoroughly enjoyed Higarashi, Umineko, and Higanbana (I've also read Ciconia, but the less said about that one the better). I didn't come into Loopers with many expectations. I thought that it might end up similar to Lucia's route in Rewrite, which was something of a hybrid of Key and R07, and I hoped that Key's editors would at... Read more »
