Description

Our protagonist, Kagami Toshiki, is headed to Tokyo, where he will begin living with his cousin and her family.
Unbeknownst to others, he harbors a desire within himself.

He wants to rekindle that creative spark he has all but lost now.

Once young, Toshiki had a dear childhood friend.
Her name was Ayase Aisa.

They were always side-by-side, competing to create better stories.
However, as Toshiki grew older, he felt the gap growing ever larger.
And soon after that, because of familial circumstances, Aisa moved to Tokyo.

The then-separated Aisa and Toshiki would still exchange letters, writing about their daily lives and, of course, the stories they had created.
However, once the prospect of entering high school drew close, the letters from Aisa ceased.

Nonetheless, Toshiki continued writing stories, making doujin games, and the like;
Eventually, he landed himself his first commercial light novel debut.

And while he could have continued his current growth evermore,
a particular event six months prior had placed him in a slump.
And so, he postulated that perhaps spending time with similarly aged creators would help him break free of his slump. Steeling himself, Toshiki enrolled in Saika Private Academy, a school designed for creators to gather in one place.

And soon enough, spring had arrived.

Toshiki has settled in Tokyo, ready to start his new school life. And it is there that by pure coincidence, he will be reunited with Aisa once more.

<report>The game felt like it was following a template too closely, and got really preachy, without the backing to match it. This game did not meet any of my expectations, and it is hard to believe that MC was a "good writer". The phrase "As a creator" was also used way too much.

It was surprising to see how much the artist Alpha has changed since konboku, so that was nice.

<report>A lot of wasted potential here. I get the sense that they were really just running out of time/budget when making this and had to rush it out a bit. Everything about the production in this is stellar - the VA, the art, the OST, all of it - and the writing throughout the common route was a lot of fun. I enjoyed just about every minute of it and had a hard time putting it down throughout the common route.

But it just totally falls apart in the character routes. Feels like you're going on fast forward as it yanks from scene to scene, barely lingering on anything or giving it proper development. Disappointing all around after such a great common route.

Given the promise of the common route, looking forward to any future games by this team but this was a bit of a miss for me.

<report>Everyone else has said it all at this point.

I agree - it's just wasted potential. I wasn't expecting much going into this, but the great cast and pacing early on in the common route drew me in hard and fast. The BGM was also a real treat to listen to.

And then things started falling apart.

It comes down to the writer's skill, as ironic as it is considering what this game is about.

The scenario as it stands isn't at fault, nor are the production values (ignoring the repetitive 3rd h-scene per route). It's how the story is executed that kills it. And truth be told, if he couldn't handle writing something more complex/didn't have time to finish the routes, he should've kept it simple instead.

Like Soukano itself said, you can't force a story. It should've taken its own advice.

<report>I m probably helding this piece to a too high standard but have it start by introducing "the protagonist is a creator, has a genius childhood friend who is the same field as him" i had expectations of it being another sakura no uta.

although on setting the characters studies literature, there are no reference of any classical works nor artistic lines you expect a on setting "popular commercial writer" character would use. the author of the scripts limits on literature yet is knowledgable on Outaku culture, makes the heroine Aisa seems very empty despite she playing the most important character in chapter 1.

<report>There are a few sentences written in the ending that are okay, but the personal line level is not as good as the common line. 7.6 is for the common line and the ending, and the personal line is only worth 6 points

<report>This vn is too cliche, they overuse the term 'creator' and it makes me sick. I don't understand why the protag feels like can't move on from Aisa but he can easily involved with Kiriha, Elena and Yumemi. And the last thing is the heroine route, the pace is so fast and didn't balance with the common route.

The only heroine that has a great development is Kiriha, the rest are really terrible. This is happen bcs like what I said, the heroine route is too fast and the common route didn't explain really well too.

But the rest element like music and cg are awesome, the h scene is so so but still not that good actually.

<report>What makes Sousaku Kanojo so special, to me, is its approach to how fiction can have a real impact on people's lives. Of how you can read something so close, so personal to you that it changes your lifeview and your value system, and consequentially make you rethink the life you otherwise would have lead. And of how a creator pours their experiences and their memories, their hopes and their dreams into their work, and what that truly means to them.

It's reinforced by a stunning depiction of parallels between reality and in-game works of VNs, novels and anime. No story is created in a vacuum, and this is especially true here where Toshiki and Aisa draw upon their own life experiences to... Read more »

<report>the author just narrate a full story with few decent side plots and an incoherent inexplicable main plot. I believe the author were trying to show the audience the significance of writing soft novel to a joushi kokousei, however it is lack of reasonable and logical narration. Therefore the main plot turned into a statement that seems to satisfy author's own self-complacence. it get even worse in the if plot of heroine. the if line is inunfated with the sermonic exclamation of author that totally ignore the feeling of audience. comparing to the 生命のスペア and
Koi x Shin Ai Kanojo, the author didnt give a compelling reason on how could a young composer have a courage to give up her life just to... Read more »

<report>Tl;dr it's a glorification of "creators"

Production quality is over the top. Ost, background, characters even the side are all nothing but excellent. Also the consistency of the game, mostly it's good. Every character has their input on every route. Some of the writing can also be subtle and quite meta

On the other side of the writing, however, some gremlins can be spotted. The story relies heavily on coincidences. It makes the game world feels small, as if that many coincidences can happen. It's also not so down to earth, it's not easy to believe that some middle school kids can make an ADV game or multiple award winning books. The pacing is godawful, it's too fast and the time jump is... Read more »

<report>I started reading this with high expectations, as it's the same author of the Uso series, which had nice characters, an interesting plot and fun relationship development. However, after reading the common route and Kiriha+Erika's route, I've got to say that I'm disappointed. Despite all the talks about writing, what's important to create a good work, what makes an interesting writing and so on, it doesn't make a very interesting story, so there's little persuasive power to it.

Let's start with the good points:

+ The BGM is pretty good. I don't remember any other in which the drums and piano seem to be having so much fun (one track in particular has some nice drum solo parts).
+ The art is... Read more »

<report>Hi! First of all this is not really a "Full Review" more like an "Extended Mini Review"

I really like the art! The characters were also interesting! BGM overall decent nothing really stand out. The writing also decent, but for a game that focus on 'Creators' they not really show much technical stuff they only touching the surface (maybe they decided it'll become boring but IMO they need to show it a bit more).

But the slice of life, characters, interaction, plot and romance were pretty interesting. Especially on each heroine route they expand more on the sub characters like Yuina, Chinami, Mei, Erika and Himeko (although only Himeko that had a real sub-plot). Common route do pretty well... Read more »

<report>Yeah, I personally enjoyed this series more than I thought I would at the beginning, but the end (Ayase's route) left me w a very bitter taste in my mouth.

Idk about you guys, but I hate, really hate sad endings, I hate them so much that I refuse to even read/play a game if I know beforehand that it has a sad end. I personally can't really agree with what they did, I find it even mind-boggling, life at the end of the day is the most important thing, as long as you are alive you can do more.

So to sacrifice your very last chances of living just because you can't fkin postpone the creation of some shitty game for a few fkin months is fkin retarded and make no sense to me. I'm pissed that

<report>Sousaku has a very attractive cast of main heroines, each with their unique personality, relationship with the MC, and their own troubles (or depth) that the author tried to express. The beginning few chapters were an enjoyable ride; despite the somewhat predictable scenarios, it did pique an interest in me, and I was secretly hoping for a pleasant surprise towards the end of the each character's story.

However, at many points of the writing, the feeling of "forcefulness" and "cringe" never seems to fade away. The world that the author has constructed around the MC feels extremely narrow, as if only the few characters with animated sprites actually exist. The writing feels flat and the... Read more »
