Description

I'm your host Kat, and this is Find Love or Die Trying!

It's the premiere of our new dating show, where ending up single... means ending up dead! Not sure why you'd sign up for this, but now that you're here, you've got 7 days to get one of the lovely ladies on your tropical island getaway to fall in love in with you. If she's willing to put a ring on it, you're both free to leave. If not... well, it's in the name of the show!

You'll get the chance to meet:

Allie, the daredevil athlete with a rebellious streak
Scarlett, the charming scientist with a penchant for destruction
Violet, the cold-as-ice scion of a mysterious MegaCorp
Terra, the eccentric gamer who marches to her own drum
Yui, the childhood sweetheart with a smile that could melt ice
...And last, but definitely not least, me! Kat! The impossibly perfect and painfully gorgeous host and producer. Did I forget to mention generous? I'll be helping you get those romantic connections going, so you better be grateful!

Then again, my bonus is tied to the ratings, and not you surviving the show, so... Hm.

Anyway....

I can't wait to start filming our first episode together!

<report>Rather good visual novel with great art and music about unusual dating tv reality-show with likeable cast of characters. The girls felt like deranged would-be weirdos at the first but they were surely given pretty life-like traits and grew on me later on, even if some felt like tropes for most of the part.

The story is interesting. It has some flaws like plot armor or several flow mistakes but there are also some nice twists and I really liked the pace which literally glued me to the monitor. Have to say it actually has similiar vibes like DDLC but it's not quite there. For the most part the game is really linear with only illusion of choice and all endings felt pretty similiar. But it's also savage ride with great tempo that certainly feels good and doesn't overstays its welcome.

<report>A short visual novel with an interesting premise and likeable characters, but sloppy writing that makes it hard to take seriously. I felt like the game's tone was lost somewhere between a parody/black comedy like DDLC and a legitimate horror-survival game visual novel. The story couldn't figure out how much it actually wanted to take itself seriously. I feel like they should have either dropped some of the more parody elements to go full horror-survival Game, or dropped the mediocre attempts at genuine tension to go full parody/black comedy. The story tried to straddle the line between both of those things, and it just ended up being meh.

At only 5 hours long, it's worth a read if you've got time to kill. A few of the twists are decent, the writing is just overall sloppy and tone deaf.

<report>It's a short and sweet VN. It's got a fun premise, some cute girls, and some laughs (but it's not as funny as I'd hoped).

There's a side story running parallel to the narrative that's revealed in vague flashbacks. I wish that which girls you romanced correlated to which flashbacks you had. Instead, almost none of your choices actually matter. it never feels like you've earned anything - both in regards to story insights, or the girls' affections.

The game suffers from a bit of an identity crisis after the big reveal, never being quite silly enough to just be a comedy game, and never quite intense enough to put me on the edge of my seat. You gotta pick one!

What else can I say? The game just doesn't stir up much of an emotional response from me, good or bad. It's impressively mediocre.

<report>I mean idk man I liked playing it and some of the girls were hot as fuck including the mommy misato wine lady but I honestly wish that the game was actually about its initial premise rather than having plot twists that were tbh quite easy to predict. Plus its full of cliches which like isnt a big deal bc "Gambel-san visual novels are full of cliches so why do you even play them" dude I don't know but it was funny. Also one of those choices at the end had me legit stressing but you know I clutched up as always. Anyways my rating gets dropped one point for no animated h scene (or whatever the fuck they're called) of me fucking scarlett or any of those other babes smh. you do get to kiss them tho so at least the game doesn't commit that sin

tldr kinda funny kinda fast 👍

<report>Pretty decent (and free) novel. At first I was really amused by the quick narrative intro and the obvious crazy plot. I must admit, I was also surprised how much I was kinda enjoying the whole "reality show" dating aspects (altough, no I am not gonna go and watch Too hot to handle and other similar bullshit on Netflix).

However after like an hour or so, my enthusiasm somewhat faded away - probably because the novel is quite simple and maybe due to the joke nature I realised I don't care at all what will happen to any of the characters, including the protagonist.

Still, plotwist was cool and CGs are decent. Music was okay-ish I guess. I probably don't have a reason to re-read it anytime... Read more »

<report>Find Love or Die Trying started off really well. It has a good sense of humour and did a good job building the mystery of the story. I also liked the different women to choose from. I figured that I would probably only want to know more about one or two but to be honest I found myself growing attached to four of the five contestants as well as Kat. Where the game started to lose me was near the end as the mystery unfolded. I didn’t really care for some of the reveals and I will also say that some of it didn’t make much sense. I won’t go into spoilers but suffice to say I thought the twists had more to give than I got. I will also say that while there are a decent amount of choices on the... Read more »

<report>Find Love or Die Trying is a pretty short visual novel which is sometimes compared to Doki Doki Litterature Club with his gameplay and the way that it can perturbs you in every way possible. But objectively, FLODT cannot be inclued into the same categories as DDLC.

First of all, the drawing is pretty cool, it's not excellent but it does her job. For the music, I really doesn't like her, it takes too much place into the atmosphere that procures the game. The five heroines are really basics, they just represent an archetype of girls that has been created like the shy one or the fool scientist. And the ending is not really convinced even with some good ideas, and finally, most choice doesn't... Read more »
