Description

NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE (NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD) is a "multi-ending ADV" depicting daily life with "OMGkawaiiAngel", a young girl with a rather extreme need for approval attempting to become the #1 "Internet Angel" (streamer). Gradually build up OMGkawaiiAngel’s number of followers as she spends her days streaming, using various "stress relievers", and generally being kinda messed up. Experience all the different crazy ups and downs and find out for yourself whether this story is even capable of having a happy ending.

Turn "Ame" – somewhat of a hot mess of a girl – into an OMGWTF-cute internet angel and jumpstart her career as a live streamer for the most hardcore nerds online!

<report>NSO puts you, a faceless self-insert protag in charge of managing a newcoming Twitch streamer, who doesn't have much else besides her face to go by. However, instead of simply appealing to the coomers thorough graphics, the title seems more like a statement about modern internet culture & the existentialism that comes with it. Milestone after milestone, Ame will push the goalpost further and you have to take more and more extreme measures to keep the machine running. The show must go on, and sooner or later it will consume you.

<report>What struck me immediately about this game was how stressful it is. The music is stressful. The UI is stressful. The mechanics are stressful. And when you finally realize that you're being held responsible for the herculean task of managing the titular Needy Streamer's emotional health? Very stressful.

I've seen this game pegged as an internet culture critique, but it's more personal than that. When you've been depressed for a long period of time, you'll desperately try anything to make yourself happy again. It's easy to judge and say, "being a famous streamer obviously won't make things better", but we've probably all wondered how much happier we'd be with money and fame. People who have been through this, though, know that external validation has diminishing returns and tangible limits.

<report>MC is pretty relatable for all the wrong reasons and honestly has a lot of character. Aesthetic and whatnot are very cool, but the gameplay loop is a bit too repetitive, and the game doesn't do too much. But for what it is, Needy Girl Overdose is neat.

<report>Really good game.p
Also while this game is phycological, there is a mystery, its not outright stated that there is a mystery but there is something which could increase your enjoyment by sjgnificantly. Lastly, after completing the game, honestly i was a bit confused, but then i looked online and everything clicked. All the clues are in the game, literally all in plain site. You just need to use your brain a bit more to figure out the mystery

<report>I watched a gameplay of this game when it was just recently out, after all i guess its a pretty new game and I really liked it!
Im a big fan of japanese subcultures, like menhera and lolita fashion and stuff, also the pixely pastel aesthetic so this game was perfect for me. The game had great humor and was surprisingly relatable, it portrayed the modern internet pretty well. i loved ames comments, she seemed like a real person, she spoke exactly like the new generation does online and used some modern slangs, which I love but rarely see in games. Overall, i loved the concept and the soundtrack is well done

<report>There are other reviews critiquing the writing and gameplay so I will skip that stuff and focus on one thing that I think Needy Streamer Overload/Needy Girl Overdose tries and fails hard at: critiquing the internet. It's obvious even from the steam page that this game is *supposed* to be a critical reflection on streamer culture, internet addiction, and online life.

It's a real crash and burn. From the preachy messages after each chapter admonishing your sins to the ham-fisted message of "get off the internet," there is little that this game doesn't fuck up here. If you are reading this review before buying the game: skip it. If you're on the fence about this game you're not going to... Read more »

Tl;DR I had fun with it but I don't think it's very good overall. A few things developers could pick up from, but otherwise mishandles drug abuse and mental illness.

TL;DR:
It's vapid shock-value for sadomasochistic fans of Anime, Vtubers or adjacent streamers.
Pass unless it's your thing. If it's your thing, I don't judge but maybe don't tell everyone you know.

Full Review:

Store page could use a content warning about substance abuse and self(?) mutilation.

It's competent as a short adventure game bordering on visual novel. Solid interface, cute character, straight forward objective(s) and enough to keep you... Read more »

<report>Captures the Zeitgeist of the Internet Age. GOTY, or even GOTD?

A fresh new kamige.

This kamige looks like Princess Maker combined with Casual Romance Club / its evil twin Houkago Mania Club, combined with Progressbar95.
It is a raising simulator, not a 'novel' per se (unless you consider it an epistolary novel.)
There are around 20 endings and lots of replay value, funny dialogue and secret Easter eggs.

Obviously the menhera yumekawaii retro-fancy aesthetics are a big pull for many people.
The pixel art is intricate in pretty pastels. There are oodles of fun animations.

Ame/KAngel is very cute. A not-so-glamourised, realistically-painted portrayal of a BPD e-girl who has lived her life... Read more »
