Description

Five hundred years ago, angered by humanity's sins and arrogance, God recalled his Angels from Earth and the surface was consumed by Chaos. The last person who still prayed to God, the first Saint Irene, asked for his forgiveness. God listened to her prayers and lifted the city and land around her to save humanity from extinction. As the last bastion of humanity, the city of Novus Aether floats in the sky above the inhospitable surface, powered by the daily prayers of the Saint. More than a decade ago, due to the interruption of the prayer, the "Gran Forte" occurred, causing part of the city to fall to the surface and splitting the lower city in two.

In time, the lowest layer became the dwelling of all kinds of low-lives, people who lost much of their former lives during the "Gran Forte," becoming known as the "Prison." However, a contagious disease that causes people to grow wings has spread throughout the city. A special unit has been formed to deal with these people swiftly.

In this "Prison" resides Caim Astraea, a freelance ex-assassin who does odd jobs for his friends for money, refusing jobs that require him to kill people. During one request, Caim finds a girl who contracts the wing-disease, enveloped in a light that reminds Caim of the "Gran Forte" years ago...

<report>I felt like I was obligated to write a review based on how much I enjoyed reading this. Caim is very much a no-nonsense character but is much kinder than he lets on despite living through the rough conditions down at the bottom. You can certainly see the change in his personality as the story progresses - for better or for worse. The route and story is structured like G-Senjou no Maou so I highly suggest playing it in this order: Fione, Eris, Collette, Lavie, Licia, Tia. I really enjoyed getting close to the heroines and going through the story slowly learning more and more about the mysterious Novus Aether - the storywriting really does stand leagues above almost everything I've read with its ability to draw my attention and keep me wanting to read more and more.

<report>Top-notch production all around that keeps you going and gets you so immersed in the atmospheric world of Novus Aether that you forget the passage of time. The plot could use a bit less of 御都合主義, but you can easily feel the passion the author poured into it. Parts of the story give you the feeling of reading a classic literature masterpiece with all the gravitas, life lessons, morals, and sharp and unvarnished observations of human nature, and with some very well-written and forceful characters such as Lucius and Licia that will leave a lasting impression on you. It's a pity that the ending felt a bit rushed and lacked a proper epilogue IMO, but it's still worth ~9 overall. Easy to see why it's so popular. Hope the English translation finally comes.

<report>In short, this Aiyoku no Eustia is a wonderful tragedy. It is featured by thoughtful philosophical discussions over justice, meaning and reason. It imposed serious questions on those believed to be absolutely correct. It shows the weakness of the human mind when against consensus along with the dark side of humanity and its justice. Its characters are mediocre mortals without omniscience or almightiness; they effectively can only do a little; thus, they become more sympathetic. While fighting against the absurd fate, their inferiority and helplessness are easy to comprehend. Also, the greatness shined by the characters with average fragile human hearts is more brilliant.

<report>Gave up waiting for the fantranslation and will probably regret it a few months from now, because i had a really good time with this VN. What i found most notable about it is that it takes a bunch of cliched premises and puts a tiny little spin on them that makes the plot a bit more unique, with Eris' arc being the highlight of the VN in that regard for me. My biggest complaint is one that i saw in other reviews, about the protagonist becoming much dumber in the final arc just to get some development at the very end of it in a way that feels a bit forced. Even so, i had a blast with this VN and i very much recommend it for those looking for a fairly mature storyline in a medieval setting, making it a near-classic for me.

Ranking down girls: Eris>Licia>Irene>Fione>Tia.

<report>Pros:
Plot is enticing with twists until the very end.
Characters are multi-dimensional.
Deep themes inquiring into the meaning of life and the trolley problem.

Con:
The game is structured in a way where you can go into one character's route for every arch. The order of the route is from Fiona to Elise and so on until Tia. I only played Tia's route. That means I had to witness the protagonist flirt with every female main character until he can finally fall in love with Tia. This structure is problematic because it makes the protagonist's love for Tia feel shallow. There is little built up. He just suddenly falls in love. Also, the love doesn't feel very exclusive, since he showed sentiment for all female main characters before that.

<report>Well, I heard this game it's worth playing so i'm waiting so long for it's fully translated but now I finished this and feel totally regret all of my excitement, this is garbage!
At the first part I believe it was decent game before it's enter a character route which was shallow, it's skip all the crucial things and straight sex. It's like character routes are just bonus and you don't need that. And so I decided to go it's final route hopefully believe that something gonna surprise and I was stupid it turns out to be total vain. The MC useless the angel intention unconvincing and everything just makes nonsense. This game wastefully long but lack of settling. Totally it's not worth it.

<report>Played this one many years ago, way before it was fully translated. Most of my memories about the game are rather vague at that point, but what I remember is that side routes and the girls' respective story-arcs are amazing, especially Licia's and Irene's. The same couldn't be said about the main story and ending, as I found them lacking in comparison—the last chapter being the weakest part of the game, as well as probably the shortest. But to be fair I felt the same way about Subahibi and not everyone agrees, so to each their own and maybe your experience will be different.

<report>[Text from machine Translation] zh-cn: Today, I finished the story of Aiyoku no Eustia Thread in 20.69 hours using ONS simulator on Android phone. The story is impeccable. I have played Palate 9-Nine, AB2's Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo, etc. Character growth has rarely been more thorough, and it's the best thing I've ever done with Gal!

<report>Note: I'm playing with Partial Patch. In this game, I only play Eris route as other routes not get translated yet. I'm not voting this yet. I'll wait for full patch.

This VN is what everyone's wanted to play. I know some already play in Japanese, while others are wait for translation.

Behind the gameplay, before I play, I saw most reviews from VN players where they claim this VN is extremely good and has lots of good votes. With curiosity, I decided to play this VN.

Then the reason is true. This VN has lots of surprises and unexpected answers from my questions. The story is very very good. The art also the best. MC's voice acting is crazy. All other characters are drawn great. I like rain feature, slashing, bloods, and suchs. I like this VN.

I'll edit this review when the patch is out.

<report>Kinda boring.

Art, story or music are not outstanding.

World-building is great but not fully fleshed out.

The ladder structured story does a decent job in building up to the main plot points of the story.
These types of stories require well written characters however, and such characters are not present in this work.

Fione (best girl) has strong motivations and thus reasonable character development
Eris's (worst girl) story was boring and development rushed
Colette's story was boring and unremarkable
Licia was well written, and furthered the overall plot most
Tia's was Caim being a baby, but made enough sense.
Ending was aight

MC and interactions with villains and side characters were typically bland, though he had great but rushed chemistry with most heroines.

This is not kamige.

<report>Aiyouku no Eustia is one of the best times I had with a VN, when taking into account recent memory. The grounds for such a claim, are based on 2 main parameters: The themes explored by the VN, and the simple to absorb, but dense with ramifications writing style. Let's be perfectly clear here, you can find better in terms of "food for thought", or rewarding prose, but the fact that this title does so well in both regards, leads to a very pleasant and immersive experience.

Starting with the usual monotonous assertions:

- Visuals - I like the heroines, and find them appealing, particularly Fione, Sistina, Melt (all the blondes, really), Iris, and Eris is my favorite. I should mention that I... Read more »

<report>This vn got their raw materials needed to be perfect. Well-designed character, interesting theme, nice setting, decent BGM, and the most interesting one for me is the MC. Yes, Caim. Its really rare to get a protag with this quality. Cool appearance, nice personality in the entire game, and voiced too. Pretty hard to find someone similar as him after i finished this.

Moving to the heroines, each heroine has their unique story and circumstance. Using ladder structure, you are starting with Fione, and ending up with Eustia. Every heroine's story is awesome, exception to Eris's because for me its not that good. A bit dark situation at the start, and it continues throughout the game. Great... Read more »

<report>One of a big problems I find with this game is its episodic nature. There are more than 5 routes in this game. You could say that the entire novel is a big mystery, and going through each non-true route you stop short investigating for the truth in exchange for settling down with a side heroine. The problem here is that each side route deliberately avoids tackling the central mystery of the story in favor of some other problems to shroud the whole truth only revealed in true route, making each route seems to be disconnected with each other. It is very frustrating when the protagonist is determined to near the hidden truths of the whole thing, but only to look away in favor of some really... Read more »

<report>I'm only writing this review, because I'm really, really disappointed. So this one is not going to be an unbiased review. I know, I should be objective, but I just can't, so feel free to discredit everything I say, and decide for yourself.

I really, really wanted to love this VN. I waited for years for the translation to be finished. I'm a lucky (?) one because a good samaritan from my country put countless hours of effort to translate this, so I could read this in my native language (although, I would have preffered an official english translation, but it may never happen).

I really wanted to love this, but I just can't. Regardless, lets start with the good part. The CG was good in my... Read more »

<report>there's really not much to say. look at the main page. look at its translation projects not just in English. and not the MTL trash kind of translation. if that's not a testament to how well received this VN is, I dunno what is.

when the patch got leaked the site was overwhelmed with downloads for a while. just like how quick vultures are when they saw a dead body asking to be eaten.

as for the VN itself, I am so glad to say that this is probably the only VN (so far) that managed to make me seated for a very long time. no alt-tabbing, no distractions and all that. I'm so engrossed with the world-build and the characters. and then there's me noticing that I'm just pressing the down arrow... Read more »
