Description

High-spirited Tane, bitter smiling Eika, cold gazing Ryou and new resident Tsumugu. How did Chouji’s normal life suddenly become like the Palace of Versailles? The story is constructed like a slice-of-life light novel, albeit with lots of ichaicha since there’s four heroines who are already at max affection with him.

<report>First off, I was a bit letdown by the h scenes: The common route being an absolute Tsun-fest, I expected some femdom, but there's hardly any of that aside from maybe 1 or 2 scenes.

Aside from that, it's a pretty solid bishoujo/moe type read, with some mild drama/turn of events near the end of the routes. The art was pretty nice, and the music was very well done, especially since I'm not usually one to care about OST's.

In terms of routes, I'd rate them Ryou>Tsumugu>Eika>Tane. But YMMV.

Also be aware that in each route, the timeline at a couple points will jump to random pre-story events with hardly any notice or mention. So if you're not paying full attention while reading, you may suddenly wonder wtf is going on.

Wish there was a side-route for the teacher as well.

Overall good 8/10

<report>Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteiru, also known as Ikikoi, is a heavily underrated VN; however, I can see why this is the case.

For Ikikoi, you have to go into the VN expecting the right things. I'm sure many people see Ikikoi, and the first thing they see is something like "Oh, this is the company that made Sakuuta/Atri" or "Oh hey, SCA-JI worked on this vn" and expect a game with a deep, comprehensive plot. However, Ikikoi has none of these. Ikikoi, at its core, is a comedy game. You read it for the comedy, the romance, and maybe the H, but definitely not for the plot.

The people that feel like they got cheated out of a good story with Ikikoi do indeed have a point. The opening(Slight NSFW... Read more »

<report>This gets so, so much better.

I ended up dropping this game twice while reading it. The first time, almost instantly — the common route is unbearable. I didn't like tsundere at the time, and this game ended up changing that. But even looking back on it now, this common route is really something else. In a bad way.

The second time? After doing Tane route. I went for her because she was the least tsun of them, but it was just boring.

The fun started on the third try. Tsumugu, Eika, and even Ryou routes had good comedy, with some parts really standing out. Ryou, in particular, was the one that managed to truly endear me to tsundere. God, she's cute. Love her cow pajamas, too. To think that... Read more »

<report>The common route is certainly a weak part of this game, but I didn't find it to be absolutely unbearable either. My typical tendency with any VN is to replay the common route in it's entirety before unlocking the next ending. My approach to Ikikoi wasn't any different, and each time I found new things that I had missed during the previous playthrough.

The largest issue I came across during the common route (and in some of the endings) was a synchronization issue between the dialog and monolog; replaying these bugged sections was frustrating, especially during the night-time investigation at the school chapter (which I consider to be the worst part of the game).

The story itself wasn't... Read more »
