Description

Spring. After the death of his father - a world-famous artist - left him without any living relatives, protagonist Kusanagi Naoya is put under the care of his friend Natsume Kei's family. There, his homeroom teacher Natsume Ai, and Kei's younger sister - the actress Natsume Shizuku - await him in turn. And with the arrival of the new school term, Misakura Rin - Naoya's childhood friend who transferred long ago - reappears right before him.

Beyond the veil of cherry blossom petals blown by the wind - almost like their promised reunion --

Feelings pile up with the passage of time: once the torrent of emotions comes rushing down, what is the spectacle that awaits?

<report>It's an awfully deep story with a awful lot of shared character backstory. The music is fitting, with fantastic piano BGM and the usual end-of-route epic guitar feature songs. They did a great job with the expressive character art. The CGs are fantastic; they are well-detailed, and really help you get into the moment. There's so much depth to the characters and the story, even aside from the protagonists and the main heroines. My only real complaint is that the narrative drags on at times with overly metaphorical or complicated dialogue, and there are long stretches without too much plot development. Highly recommended for fans of long-winded drama and complex webs of character interactions.

<report>This VN is often recommended as one of the 'kamige' novels, but in my opinion is the worst of the lot by far. This VN falls for the common VN pitfall of totally disconnected heroines, they borderline don't exist outside of the common and their own route. I think 2 of the heroines quite literally don't appear in any other route.

The quality of the routes is also quite poor, basically being just borderline satisfactory for most of them.

The true route is decent enough, but would have benefited greatly from the 'main' cast having received attention earlier. By the time you hit the true route you've barely interacted with the cast you're supposed to care deeply about since the common.

All in all, if romance and drama is what you want, I strongly recommend White Album 2 over this.

<report>A stunning masterpiece, I am amazed at the use of literary forms in this visual novel. One route in chapter three is particularly impressive. The beautiful music is perfectly integrated with the storyline, making it even more enjoyable. I love this work, and it has the potential to become one of my all-time favorite pieces.

<report>The opening scene of sakuuta really grabbed me and sucked me in reassuring me that all the hype surrounding it is indeed worth trusting. but after the intro's finished the writing quality abruptly nosedives into the ground and it remains in this pathetic state for a long time. Since everyone and their dog has already praised good things about this masterpiece I'll just focus on what really annoyed me.

Sca-ji really tests your tolerance for bullshit with too much wasteful padding, poorly written SoL events that doesn't really achieve anything, Weird dialogue writing that gives rise to really bizarre incoherent lifeless conversation tempo, Horny heroines who seem like they are straight out... Sakura no Uta… where do I start?...
I guess I should preface this by saying I don’t plan for this to be a super in-depth analysis, but instead for it to be a shorter, impression-based review, mostly because I wanted to get my thoughts down before finishing Sakura no Toki (I’m currently one chapter in). However, knowing myself and the fact that I plan to divide the review into multiple subsections anyway, I expect this to end up pretty long.

Sakura no Uta -Sakura no Mori no Ue o Mau- (SakaUta for short) is a visual novel developed by Makura released in 2015 and roughly translates into “The Poem of Sakura: Dancing Above the... Read more »

<report>During the year and a half i read this on and off, my rating for it kept fluctuating and it was truly a testament to how you can't accurately give a opinion on this VN before reading everything. Common route while slow, keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. Then the chapter 3 routes while having fine storylines, feature absolutely atrocious comedic dialogue which dragged the whole thing down for me. Finally, chapters 4 through 6 kick the VN up a notch with chapter 6 even having good comedy, which keeps me wondering if the author had a crappy high school life and that's why he couldn't make the comedy for chapter 3 feel more natural.

One thing of note is that most reviewers see... Read more »
