Description

With his parents moving to America for work, Jinno Kyouji returns to his hometown, Kurehito City, after several years of absence to live with his mother's cousin, the free-spirited Saitama Yamiko. There, he encounters several girls he shares a history with.

Kazuyagi Akane, the strong-spirited tomboy he grew up with.
Namiki Aoi, a gloomy girl who's Akane's best friend.
Misono Kiika, a graceful, good-natured classmate of his from his old school.

In three years of absence, his hometown and its people have changed ever so slightly. Despite some hiccups, Kyouji's peaceful days in his hometown begin.

At least until he meets a mysterious girl on his way to his first day at school. Violet hair. Large, striking eyes. Skin that's paler than the driven snow.

"Welcome home," she says. "My name is Yuka. Remember it."

And wherever Yuka is, one mysterious, inexplicable figure is always nearby—a monstrous man by the name of Gore Screaming Show.

Kyouji's encounter with these two figures marks the end of his peaceful days—as they bring madness and despair into this world. Will Kyouji and the girl he loves be able to escape and return to their peaceful days? Or will they—

<report>I just closed 100% of the game, the first 3 mandatory Cover Girls routes are terrible, and don't take the name super seriously because it won't be the heaviest thing you'll see in your life, however, the later routes are much, much better and carry the game on their shoulders, I'd rather have the game with the 3 complete routes losing some points to play these routes first than having played 3 bad routes to then finally enjoy the best things in the game, if you're persistent, know that later it gets better haha, a horrible game and still a good game, i think that is it.

<report>A really great visual novel which had an atmosphere that engaged me throughout. The three heroine routes may not be the best part of the visual novel but they definitely hold their own and were fun to me. Voice acting was great and there were a lot of tracks in the OST-which were all great-and a lot of nice CGs too. My favourite route was Yuka's and I can't exactly fault any part of it.

<report>While Common route shows you some interesting moments but latter on this disappear and appears only in the end of the routes. Which is killing all the idea by showing us stantard romance (and huge ammount of porn) for half of the time with 3 mandatory girls before you can access something more valuable for story overall.

Overall there was some potential with interesting characters (Yuka, Mashiro and Yoshiki) but it didn't develop that way. Instead game swithes to some romance which does not connect giving the title of the game. And because of that endings looks out of the picture. I just don't unterstand what I am even playing? Romance or gruesome horror?

If you don't have anything to read you can give a try but I wouldn't recommend it unless you really out of options.

<report>What started as a fun ride ended up as tedious chore and nuisance.

The buildup is somewhat interesting but rather long, the schoolboy / schoolgirl romance trope is unfun and stale, the phantasmagoria they are describing is sometimes over the top and lacks cohesion and logic.

They try to shock you with the contrast of little girls and boys and the cruelty of Yukari and gore, but that start to feel old too soon into the gameplay.

And I didn't enjoy all the meta game. I didn't like the information about the game world fragmented across different storylines. I didn't like that you can only get the proper ending if you complete and rerun the game multiple times

Other than that, it's an okay game, yet a too pretentious one.

<report>I truly do not understand how this game has such stellar reviews. I played every route and all I can say is what the fuck. I don't think Yuka's route was groundbreaking at all like people say it is, and I expected a lot more explanation. Who is the long-haired woman??? What's going on with the ritual and the cult?? Barely anything is thoroughly explained. Terrible game with way too much rape.

<report>The name is a total lie. The gore in this game is very minimal and tame compared to other games involving body horror. Out of the roughly 10 gore scenes only one isn't porn. I had to play for about 7 hours on one route to even reach something interesting. The buildup is too long for such a boring climax.

<report>A horror classic from 2006 that is pretty good even these days. It might not impress you that much since some ideas aren't that fresh anymore. The game inspired Kurashiki Tatsuya, Sakuraba Maruo, and other writers, so you could see them elsewhere already. But it's still a strong work that is pleasant to read. Even at the weakest moments, the story was still interesting enough to keep me motivated to read more.

First of all, the game has a cool protagonist. He's strong, impulsive, and short-tempered. He might sound like an annoying character, but it's actually fun to follow such an unusual person.

The story hooks you right at the beginning and keeps feeding you some intriguing details and... Read more »

<report>Sadly, the name Gore Screaming Show is a bit misleading as the focus is less on the gore and more on the psychological horror. With that said, it definitely does have some nice gore scenes even if the name would suggest more. Definitely turn off the gore filter for maximum fun. Recommended route order is Akane -> Aoi -> Kilka -> Yamiko -> Yuka -> extra ending. That said, the extra ending isn't super necessary, but it does clarify some questions the reader may have about a prominent side character.

The Akane, Aoi, and Kilka routes are all grouped together as the cover heroine routes. I would say that they are all of similar quality (decent) and have similar structure, but they are different... Read more »

<report>It has a good story as a whole, the bad endings are pretty brutal depending on the route. My favorite route was the Aoi route. The mystery, atmosphere, how unsettling everything was, as well as the resolution to the route where it felt like justice was served makes it my personal favorite, as well as how romantic it was in terms of Kyoji and Aoi's relationship with each other. Although the bad endings in this route were underwhelming, the good ending makes up for that by far.

The Akane route was pretty good for an introduction to the story, the bad endings were good here. The Misono route was the worst of the main three for me, it was tedious and boring but I will say the bad endings in... Read more »

<report>For a title on the older side it was a lot better than I thought it would be. It did not take long for me to get hooked into the story. A fantastic final route.

The game is pretty standard beginning where it starts off normal. The protagonist Kyouji returns to school and faces typical issues and meets different girls. Then it turns into a psychological horror ride when strange things start happening in the town. And a strange little girl called Yuka who seems to know Kyouji somehow.

-Characters-
Kyouji - The protagonist. Pretty decent all around, I took a liking to him pretty early on in the common route. A confrontational delinquent is the first impression that he gives off. A character... Read more »

<report>This VN could easily be between a 4 or a 9 depending on the reader.

Reasons why this VN can be a 4? Cliches. If they bother you (consider that this one is old), if you don't like gore (it doesn't have much of it anyway) or scenes where the heroines suffer mostly in psychological ways, if you're looking for something with a lot of expectation, checking the coherence between texts, etc. In this case, for you this VN is terrible.

How could it be a 9 then? I would say that the characters are very well worked in a sense to satisfay Yuka/Gore's plot. If you want disturbing stuff, if you are just starting at this media, you will love it because there are many resources used that were used in... Read more »

<report>Gore Screaming Show, visual novel I wanted to read for years hoping for exemplary dark romance fiction. Let's see if it could meet my expectations.

GSS starts with sequence of slice of life scenes in the unassuming rural town. Soothing peaceful days and all that. But after mc meets the creepy loli girl everything is going down.
Our pov in the story is Kyouji-kun who is impulsive, rude and very straightforward. Not necessary a likable fellow, but a good change of pace after most of moege protags.

Moving to the routes.
First, we have three starter routes. Each one of them has pretty good romance with down-to-earth circumstances: childhood friends, same niche hobby and two familiar faces in... Read more »
